Upcoming 2D MMORPG - Prestige 2D.

Hello everyone, 

 I'm developing a 2D MMORPG for mobile & pc. It's mostly going to be focused for the hardcore grinders.  Game is still in early phase development. 

There is going to be a Prestige System so that players can progress without any limit. 

Once a player reaches the level cap, they can Prestige and go back to level 1. 
Each prestige level increases their skill point multiplier by 0.1 and the level cap is increased by 5 levels. 

I'm trying to keep it simple but also engaging. 

There will be no pay2win.  There will be no auto play. 

I hope to bring something new and exciting to the 2D MMORPG genre.

    I won't immediately rule it out because it's 2D with low end graphics but a little more information would help.  Is it designed for solo grinding or grouping?  Is it spawn camping of mobs or quest hub?  Really any information about the type of gameplay would help.

    There will be a experience point bonus for grinding in a party. 

    There will be bosses that will take hours, days to kill and will require a combined effort from the community to defeat.  Hopefully the player will be there for the death of the boss and have the chance to pick up the legendary item.
    Players will grind mobs that spawn on the map. 

    There will be open world pvp & Bounty system. 

    Game is going to be completely free to play. 

    Right now our focus is launching the game for alpha testing and balancing the items, equipment, mobs.

    I'm just getting a little exposure. 

    Attempting to grow a little community and get some player input. Will definitely be looking for people to participate in testing.

    This will definitely take players like me out of the equation...Also be careful with bounty systems...What we have seen before is players kill someone, turn red, then kill that one with an alt to collect the bounty. It's too bad so many games feel they have to have open world PVP.

    Thanks for the insight.

    Nothing is for sure at this point. 

    My main focus is the prestige system and balancing everything. I know it's impossible to please everyone but I do want to make a fun game. So lot's to think about. 

    What are your suggestions for pvp?

    Don't make the mistake NW seems to have made, have a concept and stick with it. If you change course it will take a lot of extra work and likely alienate those interested in your game.

    I'm keeping the game very simple. concept with the hardcore grinder in mind. 

    level up and become the strongest player. 

    PVP is something I havn't put a lot of thought into yet. So still in the very early stages.

    I think special maps for PVP is okay , but open world PVP is no good for small game .
    If it was me , i will keep the item minimum and the main is level grind systems .
    i did look at your vids on youtube , IMO the stats system isn't good for heavy grind , because a late stage of the game , player will have too many stats and it will ruin whole gameplay , harder to get new player in

    I rather keep only HP and MP as chose to raise , and ATK depend on items. Defense stats are out IMO . From my experience , defense stats is the most hard to balance .

    Bow and magic kind of consume materials , it's better to have only meele at early stage of the game .

    And for a grind game that focus on monster hunting gameplay , i feel like your game lack of gold sinks

    Also boss wasn't a good idea . Instead of boss drop , mod drop with low rate is better .

    I'd suggest not doing PvP at all. Since you're doing development alone you'll have time to do maybe 1 or 2 things well, and the rest of your game will be badly done by necessity due to limited amount of time you can spend on developing it.

    Non-consensual PvP and bounty system are things that if they're done badly will cause much more harm than good for the game. Unless you're going to make them your game's main focus and spend the time required to do them well I'd suggest leaving them out.

    Just slap a /duel system so that players can test some 1v1 PvP for fun, but otherwise leave PvP out.
