Oh yes please! Start with 1.5 but DON'T go beyond .. 2.0, or ok ..2.5 at max.

2.0 was THE best patch for Aion, hands down.

Also , don't make the same mistakes as with Lineage 2 "Classic". This time bring real Classic servers with no ..modifications other then ..graphics and UI changes.

If anything, take the exemple of WoW Classic. THAT'S where NcSoft should look at.

If they could add the new classes to 2.0 version that would be pretty awesome.

Always good for some more cash raking, but the "modern game" never seems to learn anything from the classic. If players are happy with it mind you, then there is a point.

It was more fun with the opening rifts and the player invasions.

A friend's father calls the game "AiYawn" so boring does he find it.

You know what's better than creating a classic server? Not mangling the live version to leave it in a basically unplayable state in the first place.

Aion before Pay 2 Enjoy cosmetics shop and plastic surgery tickets but rather unlimited changes like BDO for a flat monthly fee.

In no way, shape, or form was Aion a grinder. It was far more akin to world of warcraft than anything else.

    Now, the lineage series ...

Classis server for this game wuahahahahahahaha I would rather gouge my eyes out with cold pokers than play that ridiculous grind fest with no reward for it. I mean even the mobs you killed only dropped trash back then you got NOTHING for time. Dungeons spent hours in them only to get to the end boss and not get shit for loot. NO THANKS. Same as the bore fest called classic WOW sucks.

To be fair, when Aion launched in EU/NA with 1.5 version, it had a pretty big (mob) grind, because Quests didn't gave enough XP to fully level after level .. 30 or 35.

But yes, it was not that bad, especially if we compare it with Lineage 2 ! :)

A classic server? For Aion? Aion was fucking shit!

Also, yes, it most certainly was a grinder. I played on a private server with 50x xp gain, and it could still take a couple hours to gain a level at the high end. I shudder to imagine what it must have been like paying a sub for a game that takes 50x longer.

wasn't close to a grinder. You've never played a grinder mmorpg if you think Aion was a grinder. It was also quest based (with some good quests but most dull.)

It was their attempt at a "World of Warcraft" style game.

A grinder game is a game where you go out, find a spot and just grind mobs to level. That's it. You don't grab quests, turn them in and then rinse and repeat.

I'm afraid Aion was my first disappointment in the mmorpg genre. I remember seeing the first trailer and reading what they wanted to do. Each server would be different depending on how the players played, with the Balaur being an equalizing force in the faction war.

    Feh!

However the faction based pvp was fun, especially with the rifts.

I'd like to go back to that.

Your argument boils down to "x is not a grinder because it's not as bad as y." No, x and y are both grinders. Y is just even more of a grinder than x.

And intent doesn't matter. Aion may well have been their attempt at a WoW style game, but they fucked it up, very fucking atrociously badly - because NCSoft can't make their crap games not a glacial, unrewarding slog to play even when that isn't the goal.

Maybe if they bring Aion2.0 with up to date graphics but no penguin panda skins and pt2 bullshit many people would return.

I've been hoping for a classic server for over a year now , hate the new transformation system and pretty much everything about the latest version.

As far as grind goes 45-50 was a little grindy but I leveled 3 characters to 50 in the first few months and at the time had about 3hrs a day to play due to work so it wasn't nearly as bad as some make it out to be, The classic PVP was incredibly fun had a great kisk spot in Eltnen and used to spend hours running around pvping ( mostly getting chased by a zerg of higher levels ) but those were the days.

It really wasn't a grinder though. You did quests to level. There are a couple of gaps you had to kill mobs to get up to the next quest hub but the game is a largely a theme park MMORPG that focused on quests.

Also there's absolutely no way it took a couple hours to level up on a 50x server around max level. The last couple of levels took a while but it definitely wasn't that much time.
