Where does a gamer over 50 find other older gamers?

For the last 8 years I have toiled to build a successful business. I am now selling it to reap the rewards of my effort and move on to do something I have missed all these years, play and be involved in the gaming world. I am a life long gamer. I fell in love with MMOs when I played Final Fantasy 11. Since then I have played too many to count but mainly Everquest 2, WOW, and Final Fantasy 14. I have not played for 8 years. 

Now I am 58 and married and would like to find other semi-retired or retired MMO players to make friends with. I know that the older player base is growing, having read numerous articles in age focused magazines (and online) such as AARP.  But I can't find is these online communities. I checked on Facebook (Senior Gamers, Retired Gamers, etc). I searched other online sources but so far I'm just not finding these communities.

I actually have a greater goal that has been a life-long dream. I always wanted to live with other gamers, and have. Once with two guy roommates and once with two girl roommates. 

I have an opportunity to buy a piece of property in Texas that is 30 acres and has a big 7000 square foot house with 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. This property was a business, used for weddings and such. a hundred yards from the house is a huge grand hall and a commercial kitchen. My idea is to buy the property and at first rent out 7 rooms either to singles or couples. I would start building other similar size homes on the property, with the grand hall the centerpiece, ultimately having eight houses, 64 rooms, creating a big community. The hall would be redesigned and set up with live feeds. If monetization works then income can reduce all rents. Share the wealth concept. 

Anyway, at this point I need to find like minded people to bounce the idea off to gauge the potential. Any help finding these players would be appreciated.

    You might want to check out OTG (Old Timers Guild.) They have been around for quite a while and have chapters in many MMOs.

    Just one more question (for now).  Will there be any cult activity involved?

    Like will everyone need to gather to worship before a Triforce of Power Monument located in the chapel every day before dinner?

    Unless people tell me I usually don't know how old someone is in a MMO, unless the yare extremely immature or have a name like XXBOBXX

    So what happens when one of your roommates ninja loots otherwise acts like a douche? Kind of awkward. Plus the legal hassles  of evicting them. Just because someone is an old gamer doesn't mean they are a good gamer. 

    On the bright side you have the beginnings of a great reality tv show.

    EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

    Were you looking at their website? In this day and age most communication both written or voice is done on an organization's Discord server and you will likely find quite a bit more activity there. 

    BTW, 62 here, and my regular gaming friends who are playing FO76 with me now are 63 and 50 respectively. 

    I'm also a member of a FO76 multi platform "clan" which largely consists of teens or twenty somethings and I do struggle at times to "relate" to their concerns and views on FO76 and gaming in general. 

    But they know a lot, so I stick around on Discord text chat channels mostly to keep better informed on the game.

    You would be amazed how different people will be when you can get up from your computer, walk over, and punch them in the face for being a douche.

    I know.. I know.. you're gonna say they can call the cops, and what have you, and all that jazz, keep in mind, evicting them and losing that rent money, is just as hard as it is to evict someone for being a douche in game. Not to mention that if everyone else is also a gamer, you would be amazed at how fast they will turn a blind eye to some asshole getting the shit beat out of them they so desperately deserve. 

    Or you know.. you could play games that don't cater to raging douchenozzles.

    I've never looked into it but DDO or LotRO or maybe both have a Mature Gamer's Guild in game.

    I found one w/o even trying in GW2. The guild I am currently in, a WvW guild is a mix of people over 35 (mosty retired) and about half women. There are quite a few out there.

    also, when you join OTG.... the forums open up more for members. and Discord is very active.

    Many of your replies are very helpful. Thanks for taking your time to add. I will try the ideas given. This is mostly preliminary work to gauge for true interest so I will take all steps offered.

    So to get this straight, you want to build an apartment complex for gamers?

    Maybe there would be people interested in that but as a 53 year old person who plays video games, it wouldn't be to my liking.

    I feel it woudl be like PAX EAST all the time. I can only do that a few days per year. But good luck and congratulations on your success!
