on a side note, it's funny this guy thought the game would be out in 2-3 years, and that was 4 years ago lol.

Do you miss on pueposes the scope change mid-2014 for TWO triple-A? otherwise there is no way a company starting from scratch can deliver in 4 years. Looking at 3.9 backers do have a very good reason to give their 45$ to CIG rather than EA....

Last time, in the topic of your defending this so called product, somebody asked you:

    "JoeBlober, honest question:

Do you get paid to do this?"

Remember, that the only thing you did, is an evasive comment, and you didn't answer the question.

The next few user reactions wasn't that surprising:

"The fact, that you didn't answered the question, indicates that your activity here is shady.

That's why nobody believes your propaganda."

"It's an easy "yes" or "no", Joe."

We're still waiting for the answer.

The fact you even ask is a total no sense. On internet anyone can say anything you will never be able to prove, both ways.

I am here to counter act the handhull of naysayers/haters throwing scam, leaving gross obfuscation or leaving their "expert" opinion og guys who clearly have no clue about the most basic game developement and finance, not to say SC is the best thing that ever happen to mankind in two centuries... far to be a propaganda :)

Honest answer: believe what you want.

You STILL didn't answer the question.

And that is why nobody believe your propaganda BS.

    Taking Erillion remark into account:

"I am NOT getting paid for writing here. I am a fan, a Star Citizen backer. I am not an employee of CIG or any company working for CIG (or any of their country specific sub-companies)."

That said I make no propaganda as already explained... now do you believe me? lol

If I didn't asked the question here, you'll won't be even bothered to answer it in the previous thread.

You only answered here, because you felt the heat after the silence before the last time.

So no, I don't believe you, and blame yourself for this, you and your bias.

You never intented to believe me whatever I said or when I say it... don't be that hypocrite.

And Lol... I feel no heat. Just doing it to please a guy who is not hypocrit= Erillion... knowing >perfectly< you don't give a s... about my answer. Without surprise, you act as intented :)

Logged into new babbage, the server tick rate was low or something but smooth. Seems like I am capped at 30 fps but its the best damn 30 dps I have ever seen. It doesnt dip, its smoooth. The New Babbage city is breathtaking. Probably one of the coolest places I have seen in a game. Some of the cities in this game are so large and well detailed, other games would make an entire game centered around that 1 city. I really like the improvement I am seeing, the immersion factor alone is incredible on New Babbage.

I spent over $100 in Paragon buying skins for an unfinished moba. Whats the difference here? Just because it was backed by Epic Games it eas not safe, it still ended up shutting down.

2.5 million people wanting to see this game. At least a third of them paying to see it comes to pass.

    That is the difference here.

I'm the type of person with an open mind. I enjoy playing games with the understanding some are more or less fun than others. I look at the present situation of a game, and don't let the past ruin my present experiences. To me it doesn't matter if a game had a rocky start or not. Is it fun now regardless of the past? That is what's important in my mind.

I hopped into Star Citizen a couple times in the very beginning when it was basically just a demo. I kind of even forgot about it for quite a while figuring it'd end up like many other kickstarter projects I took a chance on. I think the next time I checked it out was maybe 3.7 or 3.8 and I was really impressed with what was there. Seeing what they've added for 3.9 makes me more excited for the future.

No, I'm not paid to say positive things about Star Citizen. I've just actually played it and enjoyed what I experienced. With how vehement some of the negative posters are in these forums I sometimes wonder if they're being paid to spew so much hate and ignorance. I've played plenty of games that were "complete", "AAA", etc. where I got much less enjoyment. I feel bad for people that seem to be on some sort of unholy crusade and keep such a closed mind.

I'm the type of person with a very closed mind.  Games are either "released" and worth playing or "unreleased" and not worth bothering with.

Honestly, I don't care if people are spending money on SC.  It's their money.

I'm just concerned with the precedence it is setting.  There's no accountability.  They can drag this for years, heck decades and from what I am seeing, people will keep paying.

I'm concerned this form of funding will influence other games and that sucks.

Same.  I refuse to give money for games trying to be released.  Show me a final product and I'll pay.  I got money.  I'll even pre-order if there's a hard release date and the game is essentially finished.

If you like, you can check it out for free before that - but that is completely optional.

    A normal and sensible position.

Fans and backers like me ... we keep posting news about the Alpha because we like it.

What continues to surprise me is a group of naysayers on a crusade against Star Citizen.
Usually they are not even playing it or have ever played it. Their knowledge about Star Citizen often comes from Alpha-Bug-compilation-videos (which are often quite old and outdated too). How much energy they put into trying to stop something they say they have no interest in in the first place - what a waste of time and effort. What a waste of precious lifetime. Unless they have other reasons (as has been mentioned upthread).
For years there were groups that were flinging poo at Star Citizen for shit and giggles ... but even them have moved on to other pastures by now, flinging poo at their next target.

    Have fun

First, I am not a naysayer. But, I have worked on development and in start-ups most of my career, not in software but in biotech, and not having deadlines, having a laser focus on what needs to be done to get things out, etc. is what is needed as well as a marketing branch which looks at: 1. Will new players pay the same money as whales to survive? 2. Do all the bells and whistles need to be in to be released (GW2 is planning to release the next LS chapter w/o voice acting as an example). 3. How much money is needed to actually finish the game for release?

I will give an example. I worked for a company that built the most amazing cell counter sorter. It could do anything and it wasn't selling. Why? The simple fact that no one actually looked at the market to understand the price/feature paradigm. Our cell counter/sorter was 5X more then the next most expensive machine. No one wanted to pay the price. Just because you build it, does not mean people will come.

None of the has been answered. So, like many start-ups the idea is how to segway from a pure tech company to one that is actually putting out a product. Only 1 in 10 companies do that (and that is very optimistic).

The point I am trying to make is be realistic in this. Right now, it is an alpha test and that is all it is. No one is asking, could they take the alpha and tweak it to get the game out? If they continue to slide the bar down the line, what does that tell you about the realistic attitude of this companies management? Just putting it out there for people to think about.

Please don't say gaming is different. It is not. It is a product to enjoy, nothing more.

    >>> Our cell counter/sorter was 5X more then the next most expensive machine.  >>>

What makes this different is that in Star Citizen SOME customers DID pay 5x more than "the next most expensive machine".

Not everyone, but enough to keep developing the computer game version of "the most amazing cell counter sorter"

And the other difference ... in Star Citizen they DID pay it up front. The money is there. It has already been paid. And - if necessary - more will be paid.

Until the computer game version of "the most amazing cell counter sorter" is ready.

It is not a product currently until I can go on STEAM and pay for SC. You are missing the point. An Alpha is just that, an test bed. Not the game itself. Right now all it seems to be is keeping people with lots of time and money interested.

Until I can actually plunk down money for SC, in a store, STEAM, whatever, it is not a product, it is a marketing ploy.

Been following this since the end of 2012 and spent a lot of $$$$ through 2013-14 and sub for 2 years.

This saga has been going on so long that I am so over this game already. You can count the number of hours I have in the game on may be 2 hands.
In fact I logged in just the other day after 3.9 to see the hype, and I could just barely walk around with the shitty FPS. But I went to load one of my ships in the game (Freelancer DUR) and walked around it and said cool,,, so now what do I do?
I sat in the seat and took off and once again hit with huge lag spikes, but I kept flying anyway. So now what do I do I asked myself,,,, hummm may be I could fly over there or over there, and waste 30 min of my life waiting just to get there. (Note all this took may be 10 min and I logged out)

I don't know about you but I have a lot better things to do with my time then to sit and wait for the ship to get some where. At this point I'm not even looking forward to SQ 42. This so called game has already burned it's self out, and the only reason why it's still going is because all the ship hoes that can't wait to spend money on next jpg.

If you have fun in SC that's great, but it sure doesn't seem to have to much to offer me!

Oh and before you say "Your PC must be old" Here are my specs!

Gotta love all those who feel the need to come to Star Citizen threads saying "they are over it"  or that they "don't like X or Y".  Yet they keep coming back for more again and again. Think about it? Do you go to a thread about Fortnite or any other game you really don't care saying you're "over it" or the people enjoying it that  they are "doing it wrong"?

Wake up dudes, Nobody cares, Star Citizen included. The game doesn't need You! But You sure look like you need a game like Star Citizen in your life. Maybe so that you find purpose on your apparently very sad and jaded (ex)gamer life.

No wonder this game, after all these years, still keeps getting more and more people joining and making millions in the process.

Haters really are the best advertisers they only miss posting the always usefull "newbie introductory walk-through video:

It's always amusing when the regular voices come in and confuse really good (if anomalous) marketing with good management.

With good management SC/SQ42 would be killer.  And already out now.  But hey, they've got a willing horse.....

It's a funny theory my dear but unfortunately doesn't match with reality.
Ironically you seem to have fallen into the very own pitfall you mock others for.

Ignoring that many other already established big studios, with way more experience, financial and human resources than CIG have been having the exact same hurdles while developing way simpler and smaller games than Star Citizen. Studios who don't have to expose their development and keep playable builds for it's community while the game is being built.

You're the reason and the result of why studios prefer to develop their games in secrecy which helps perpetuate the kind of ignorance that originates such dumb theories as yours in the first place.

The reality is quite simple, if a game like Star Citizen and/or Squadron 42 was easy to make, or could've be made faster. A bigger, richer and more established and experienced studio would have made it by now.

Yet here we are. 8 years after Star Citizen's pitch video and there's still nothing in the  market or even in the horizon that can rival it's current alpha build much less it's "finished" goal.

That's why it keeps getting new players everyday and breaking funding records every year B)

There is no middle ground, it's a hill I'm willing to die on.

     B)

Same.  I refuse to give money for games trying to be released.  Show me a final product and I'll pay.  I got money.  I'll even pre-order if there's a hard release date and the game is essentially finished.

And you can just wait until it is finally released. The backers pay for the development - voluntarily and willingly.

Power to ya.  As I said, it's your money.

But even you must admit the game you are playing is not the game that has been promised.  You have just accepted that the current state is acceptable.

Surely SC can keep moving the goal posts for another decade and people will continue to support it.  People may like the tiny incremental advances but the final product will never happen.

I think that's wrong.  I think they are stringing people along with promises of one product and offering something else.

And because of the success of SC's crowdfunding, it may influence other developers.  Other games that I may be interested in.  That sucks for me.  And therefore I, like others here have some vested interest to try to hold SC accountable.

Back in 2013-2016 I felt a similar way about it having a possible detrimental effect on the industry but that ship has sailed.
Instead, there was a lot of push back about monetization in games and publishers seem to have taken note.

There's 2 other games that followed in Star Citizen's footsteps, Shroud of the Avatar and Chronicles of Elyria. Not exactly esteemed company for the effect Star Citizen has had on the industry.

I agree. The game i am playing now is MUCH BETTER than the game that has been promised at the start of the Kickstarter campaign.

It still lacks locations and some content at the moment, but the underlying game mechanics come together nicely now. And its better than i expected, more than i have hoped for back then. I hope for a modern version of Star Wars Galaxies (in its first iteration). A free sandbox game were you can be more than a leveling up fighter.

Which means that right now they are offering almost exactly the thing i like. Add a copy of the SWG crafting system please.

And yes, Star Citizen has influenced other companies. I see a revival of the space game genre. My favorite genre. That may suck for you. For me its PERFECT !

It is not a product currently, you are missing the point. An Alpha is just that, an test bed. Not the game itself.

To me it is a game. For years now.

Its a sandbox. We just generate our own content. And its great fun.

The point (and i am not missing it)  is ... games are there to ...

    Have fun
Your opinion does not make it a real game. You have a right to your opinion, just remember there is not basis in fact. If I can't go on STEAM, GOG, etc and buy the game, it is not a game.

    LOL sandbox nonsense...….

How can you be so obtuse?  Is it intentional?
