When's the last time the team tried to do something to improve the NUE?

I played this for free, after it launched before it launched... again, something like that, pretty early on.

I hate to talk crap about it as i met some fantastic people in game, salt of the earth, very dedicated to their world.

Another reality is people have spent some very serious cash on it as well, and people really need to stop kneeling before RG, as soon as the miking was over he books ffs, talk about being transparent about your true goal.

This may set a MMORPG milestone:  the first time in history that the entire player base of an MMO can get together in one group!

They actually quit working on it, citing that 12% of players made it past the beginning and that those were great numbers.

I still play, 5+ years now and going. contrary to many here stating incorrect information, Population is up :) 12 man groups is only in test they want to up to 16 - 18 per group for Raid content.

As to the health of the game the stuff is added every month still. Bard is still in testing there were a few delays which is typical of SOTA. They hired 2 great community members 1 a customer service rep. and another who is now learning world building and doing item stuff.

There are more than 20 Twitch live streamers now, and a lot of new people coming in then we have seen in a long time. My Town is still busy and alive enough to go from 12th to 3rd top market in 6 months but it is a lot of work.

I can tell you there are some of the vet. players though that are burning out abit, and a lot of the cash cows are not in the game anymore RTM is now like all other games taken underground since the decision to remove it from the forums. RG is still there but a lot of the new stuff is driven more by player base and wants. The new Community Manager is doing an amazing job you can ask anyone. He is presenting a lot of what the issues the players see and what they want to see and a lot of focus is going that way to improve things.

as to performance they are about to drop a new patch which is being worked on to offload less off the CPU to the GPU with according to The Dev working on that he gained 15fps in Player towns which are the hardest on any system. That would bring an average 1070+ card to around 60fps approx.

I look forward to seeing what comes of EP2 stuff the next few months. every month there is to be a new instance coming out rather then them releasing a bunch of clones like they did with ep1. They are also working on a bunch of new creature leveling things including abilities based on a creatures level to change up a lot of the current system to make it more challenging and interesting.

New loot stuff is also in the next 2 months they heard many players didnt like how loot was so they started changes including new sets of armor with set bonuses, and even looking at the next wave of crafting revamps including ideas such as set bonus for crafted gear, possible set bonus from gear made all by the same person etc. Item affinity where items will take on new abilities based on how many kills it gets and new repair concepts being discussed so that wear and tear balances out with out causing issues on people that want to level up weapons in the future.

There is a lot more but you can always watch the QA streams for that or wait for each announcement like the one above.

These are my thoughts and I still love the game.

    Xee Master of Death.

Yep, plenty play for 12 man groups. It has a larger audience than most here give it credit for. As has been mentioned development is still going on with regularity, albeit at a slower pace as most of their staff is currently focused on episode 2.

They've done a remarkable amount of work on the game since I've started playing, especially considering the available resources. It still needs some work on performance but it is better than it once was. As for RG, he is still about but likely has little impact now.

They have somewhat shafted early adopters though, as many of the old school elements it once had have been abandoned in the hope of drawing a wider audience. I imagine those that invested a great deal based on the original intent still feel some betrayal. Whether the population gained will be worth the bad blood generated in some, time will tell.

So, a bit of a mixed bag. Still, as I said, there are more playing than most think, especially those that judge by Steam numbers alone. The most ardent fans started with the stand-alone client, and I suspect a sizable portion of that population stuck with it.

There is nothing to support your opinion. No informations at all.
Even the famous Lord British ran away from this mess and he's the main reason why people backed the game.. just sayin.
I say, there are less players than you think.

Also, when you talk about the team, you mean 2 or 3 person?

Some missinformation here, i agree the population is low but there are enough people to trade and group . Think SOTA like an active UO shard with 200 / 300 concurrent and 1500/2000 daily players, considering steam + launcher.

What is your source for those numbers? For the number of daily players, I mean.

Why does it matter so much to you? I’m genuinely curious. It’s always baffled and somewhat fascinated me that people spend any kind of energy trying to refute population mentions about a game they don’t play.

Numbers hardly ever mean anything at all.I remember oh i guess it was about 5 or so years, maybe it was 6 or 7 ago i entered Wow and it was completely dead.I counted a total of 7 players i saw in an entire week.

So what would a new player care if there were 50k players on that server if he never sees any of them? This is just bad game design and something i have talked about before, game devs NEED to be intelligent enough to design the game in a way to keep old zones relevant.
Further more how many gamer's now  days solo 99% of the time>>>MOST of them. The only time people group in most of the mmorpg's is to get something out of them or to pvp,SELDOM is it ever about community or socializing.

The problem is that mmorpg development is typically one dimensional, new content equals new zones, new levels, new quests, the actual world is forgotten and everyone hangs out in the new zones.

Well eventually you'll get to later zones and meet other people, yeah ....eventually and if the game is that fast getting to that point it means there isn't much game.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

There isn't anything that needs 12+ people to group up for. Most people still playing this game can solo all the content. Even if they can't the current 6 people group is enough to "raid". Considering this game doesn't have any "raid" type content it's pretty useless.

Only thing it's good for is PvP and that group has pretty much left since they opened it up to no loot/reward when you pvp.

    Go here https://shroudoftheavatar.net/how-many-people-play-shroud-of-the-avatar
This takes the API within the game and shows how many people play by day. Average is between 200-300 people. Not really an MMO with those numbers.

You can disable the options Show name in API data and this interfere how external sites show numbers. You can check leaderboards ingame by yourself.

Population doesn’t make a game an mmo.

Considering MMO in the gaming world is defined as able to support thousands of simultaneous players in one world, I would say that it IS related to population. What ever floats your boat to keep your dream alive is what we're all here for!!

Since when is asking for evidence for a claim an attempt to refute it? It's not; it's an attempt to know what to accept as fact and what to accept as conjecture. Portalarium/Catnip has a long history of hiding, massaging and outright lying about facts, so I believe nothing they say that isn't supported by evidence.
