Bethesda's delayed Wastelanders update meant to add NPCs to Fallout 76 will launch on April 7, coinciding with the Steam release of the game. But there's a catch.

Agreed, but no real reason to transfer to Steam unless one is a fanatic about having all games on the platform
I like Steam, but see no benefit (for me) with this move.

Sir, you should realize Steam is the most common and oldest way to publish game after CD/DVD era died. Rockstar, Ubi, EA etc... has funds and quailty game archive to support their own publishing applications. Most of the studios or companies prefer steam because they don't have tons of games or funding. Why should pay a publishing platform while you can make stable profit with yours? Steam is one of the greatest asset of PC game industry.
In Bethesda's case, they tought they are making great games yet most of their games were bugfest. Without the mods, you will alt+f4 after couple of bug fighting. I can say, modders are the main reason to play TES and Fallout. Modders accurately patching the game faster than publishers even F76 had ancient F3's fps bug. After they tried to sell mods in F4, start of the financial downfall obviously seen. They started to F76 for MMO magic yet when they publish a smooth game? This time, there were no mods, onyl plain dissapointment.

If not wait a good 3 to 6 months post release because this is Bethesda after all and there is no way this isn't going to be a shitshow the first few months, and I say this as a fanboy of Fallout games.

I think i will observe the "new" Situation and then take a look. And yeah, perhaps waiting 1-2-3 Patches is always a good Idea with F76 as we all know

Sounds better to me. Honestly, it feels like everything in the entertainment medium is just being remade instead of actually creating stuff. Hell, I'd take a spin-off at this point.
One correction - you are a fanboy of the fake Fallouts. Bethesda had nothing to do with the good ones. Bethesda was making their last crpg (Daggerfall) when the real Fallouts were being made.
Since melee is a strength stat, you can always get heavy weapons or shotgun perk.
I was up near the pumpkin farm and ran into my first Scorchbeast and thought, how the fk am I supposed to fight that?
I quit shortly after that, resuming again in September but started a new character to play with a friend.
This time I went shotguns from 1 to 40 or so, switching to heavy guns once I could wear better power armor.
Scorchbeasts do come to ground, it's when they are most vulnerable, but for a melee player you would need to team up with a heavy gunner to get the beast to ground which then you could wreck them.
Heard tell of a melee player who recently one shot the Queen on her final burndown, but the gunners got her on the ground first.
I'm told melee builds really shine in PVP, but for PVE, not so much.
