ESO Online the best ever Open Sandbox Versital MMO EVER ?

WarWitchWarWitch Member UncommonPosts: 351
Hi,

Iv played most all of the net games since the net was born on wyse terminals connected to a MainFrame, text only no sound no pics.
Iv totally found my new love. It's ESO online. I just wanted to share some of the reasons.

1. Its the best ever open sandbox feeling totally freedom MMO ever.

2. You can make magic ranged casting nightshade and close in and turn into a backstabbing duel wielding killing machine.
You can play any class with any weapons and any armor you like. Sorcery in heavy plate do it!. A tank healer do it.

3. You can advance in-game doing anything you like and get drops. Like fishing all day? you will still level up and get loot. Like making huge cash play the guild shop vendors game buy low sell higher and get rich quick. Like crafting and researching all day you will still progress. Like make an awesome looking home and building your on Furniture Do It.

4 If solo play is you thing thousands of quests all over the maps, you can hit all the delves,  group events, and explore all over Do it.

5. Love group synergy 4 man - 15 man or lady play join an active clan hop on discord and go wild.

6. Like those crazy wild zerg PVP fights hit the huge 3-way fight and Pray your side is winning Crown a new Emperor.

7.Don't want forced PVP in you PvE game you have got it.

8. So today you log in and your feeling evil. Go steal from every nonplayer character, Become hated and kos by all the town guards.

Pretty much the only thing ESO online won't let you do is go into multiplayer dungeons solo. Its such a nice change of freedom for a mmo. Nice graphics Nice mods-addons that you can use. It's pretty much your imagination is your limit.

Woo, the patch is done see you in the game!

It's a great MMORPG, best in class for PvE for sure.  Wouldn't call it anything of a Sandbox though.

That's just, like, my opinion, man.

I don't know if I would consider it a sandbox but I think it's good that it offers a lot of things to do.

I don't like it in relation to the single player games so don't play it anymore but it's a very well made game with a few questionable decisions.

lol what? I guess the competition is pretty sparce but ESO sucked. It was the worst of all of the Elder Scrolls games (except for Arena which is understandable).

ESO has become my go-to MMO.  I play it every night.  Love the questing and putting together fun to play classes.

Actually you can except for some of the "2s" and DLC dungeons with mechanics that need more than 1.

You need to gear up a bit and unlock enough skills to make a good build but I used to solo Fungal Grotto 1 easily back in the days when the Viper gear that drops there used to be BIS for some builds.

There are many who solo the vet versions as well for the challenge. Any build that's good enough to complete vMA with works for soloing vet dungeons too.

Just never could enjoy the game. And not a sandbox...at all.

I tried a few times to play, and just could not like the way the game combat felt, if that makes any sense. Just did not feel natural.

Just was not a game for me, but that does not mean it was bad, just not for me.

This is my problem. I like the game world, the stories, the art, and all of that, but the combat just feels...off. It's a bummer because if the combat was better I think ESO could be my go-to game.

100% with you on that. I was expecting Morrowind. Got something else that didn't feel right.

I played the hell out of ESO and enjoyed it for a while. I subbed to it also, and was slowly buying the add-ons with the monthly currency as well. I'm sure I'll be back after being sidetracked, just playing it solo, and doing all the solo things possible.

    Gut Out!

    What, me worry?

How do you get in a 4 man area solo? ID love to take the time in one just to look around and get all the lore etc in them. But all parties are run run run.
    Thanks in advance.

tried for several hours, could not bare the ugly, weird combat, ruined it all. I really tried to like it, but it was just so disgusting. No immersion.

And calling it a sandbox? Come on :)

ESO is a good game, but it is not a sandbox. I preferred ArcheAge gameplay much more than ESO even though I prefer the ESO art style much more.

You have to walk in the old-fashioned way :)

Every 4-man dungeon has an entrance to it in the world. You just need to know where it is and go in there. As soon as you try to go into one that has a version 1 and version 2, you get a pop-up that lets you choose.

Like I said, there are a few that can't be done solo because some boss will have a mechanic that just can't be done without 2 or more. For example, the 2nd boss in Fungal Grotto 2 periodically summons 4 adds that will pin one player to the ground and that player needs to be rescued by killing one of the adds or he will die. It's impossible to progress past that point without a 2nd player.

There used to be a long-running thread in the official forums of one guy with videos that made it his mission in life to solo all that could be soloed in vet mode. I'm sure you can either find that or just google "ESO (name of dungeon) solo" and find lots of videos and info that way if you're interested.

They do a lot of things right. Nobody’s perfect. I like being able to fast travel anywhere I’ve explored or to my group directly. Mod support is huge. Payment model is arguably fair and varied. The audio is great. Go anywhere do anything is a nice touch. I do really dislike the trading system and was never able to enjoy the economy without using several mods. Combat is repetitive, but that’s most mmorpgs imo.

Love the story and atmosphere, but the combat has never felt right to me.  The UI, controls, and mechanics are clearly built for console and it shows.  I know it was released first on PC.  I was in the first closed beta, but it always felt odd.  I remember asking for a proper PC UI and mechanics way back then.

I have come back a couple times to try it again and just can't get into it.  The scaling was the killing blow for me.  I never felt like I was progressing.  As far as feeling like a sandbox, we must have different definitions of what a sandbox is cause ESO isn't one for me.  I do like how you can play how you want while leveling, but once you start the harder dungeons, it's no different than any other mmo.  FOTM build requirements and playing how others think you should play and not how you might want to play.

Glad your enjoying it OP.  It's always nice when we can find a game that just feels fun to play.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I've never liked the trading system. I guess they did it due to the humongous database required for an AH system in a single megaserver and/or to give ESO trading a more intimate shopping feel. If they had followed that up with player vendor stalls as a housing feature that could have been cool, but they didn't.

Mods like Tamriel Trade Centre are extremely popular because it turns the system into something like a global AH albeit with web page outside the game and with usually outdated (by a few hours) data. The popularity of that mod tells you all you need to know about what the majority of players think of the ESO vanilla vendor system.

But IMO the real problem is that it turned the guild system into a casual thing with people in multiple guilds that are there for the sole purpose of having access to selling items and have very little else in common.

I agree. One of the cool things about the game is being able to join more than one guild, but that comes at the cost of sometimes requiring 4-5 trading guilds in order to get all my items for sale, due to item limits, leaving little to no room for RP or dungeon-running guilds.

Well OP,what you are describing is a game that has no integrity for keeping the standards true for what is expected of a TYPE of class.

If any class can do anything, then there are no classes are there?"common sense".

There is of course no steadfast definition of what each class MUST BE,but i feel the whole idea of a RPG and the class types should remain true from the early standards set by early games such as DnD.
We should also have some kind of common sense thrown in as well.Example if someone mentioned a MEDIC within the military field, you would NOT be thinking, dual wielding, magic casting ,full plate armor damage dealers now would you?

Naturally i am not the person who decides what is what but i have a vast knowledge of RPG's since the time they began back with Dnd and feel i have a good bit of common sense to how each should be designed.

I mean it is as simple as stating what a Dragon should be in a rpg. They are MYTHICAL creatures, meaning NOT real, but we have all decided and have a VERY good understanding of what a Dragon should be like in these rpg's.

I see other ideas mentioned that people think are GOOD ideas,i do not share in the same sentiment and have very good strong reasons why.I could even explain using real life examples but i don't feel the need to,simply put ESO...imo is NOT well designed. It is no different than me saying Wow is a terrible mmorpg design, then some would say,oh but millions play it therefore i MUST be wrong.yeah millions smoke cigarettes and do drugs,so they must be ok yes?
Common sense ALWAYS outweighs ANY and all number factors.Just because millions say something or do something does not make it correct, right or moral or immoral.People simply need to THINK a bit, then decide if an idea makes sense.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

DnD especially 3rd edition has the best classes and races too bad no mmo has given it justice DDO did an ok job but something was missing and neverwinter… well I couldn't get what was dnd about it except borrowing some races
