syltmackasyltmacka Member UncommonPosts: 404
well i kinda like the new races, the fat humans and the fox ppl. but grinding for them?
i understand that blizzard wants to keep us playing, but its a dubble edged sword.
i loose all interest in unlocking the new races when i see what i must do.
i mean its like a job irl. and im not getting payed lol.
hope they bring out a option to buy the unlocks so we all can enjoy the game we payed for.
whats your guys thought about this.?
-cheers

primary reason I stopped playing wow in bfa dolling out the races as a player engagement tactic is just complete trash but that's what blizzard has become now and I chose not to support them.  It would have been one thing if it was a long epic questline with cutscenes or episodic even but they way in which they have done it with a boring time gated rep grind, nah eff that.

“Yes please Blizzard give us the option to buy those races for $200 each.
I can't be bothered to play the game, but I really, really like those pixels.”

And you wonder why game publishers are investing so heavily in Cash Shops.

    Uh-hu.

    Just a guess:

    - WoW still has no bards.

    - WoW still has no housing.

    ... right ?

And about races - didnt they do that with classes before ? So now they're doing it with races, too.

If they actually only had two races (ie:Humans/Orcs) in a war against each other, or even three (put in the Elves), but each as a faction that can enter a war against each other...That would actually bring more fun and insightful mechanics/gameplay than a garbage 8+ races that end up just being different skins to play.

That would actually be a crazy great game. WoW as DAOC, with each race having its territory and being at war with the other or neutral at best. That would build a real sense of faction loyalty.

I didn't want them to keep adding races to Alliance and Horde, I wanted them to add a 3rd faction a long time ago.....Neutral, whatever you want to call it, but the races that hate both factions.

I would come back to WoW if they were to add Bards.

I thought buy or grind was supposed to be a f2p thing. Has wow become a sub game that has implemented f2p grind to funnel ppl to cash shop?

Bards are too hard to implement properly.

    DDO did it pretty well.

Not sure exactly what you mean by Bard, if you mean a class that's entirely there to entertain (like in SWG) or just music as a class mechanic. But if its the latter it's not hard to implement. Like in Dragon Age franchise, the Bard is basically a specialisation for the Rogue, and the songs basically act like buffs for the party. It works quite well. But yes, a pure non combat bard that gets xp from his audience (like in SWG) is not really logical for games like WoW.

actually, this is the 2nd set of allied races i think, "fat humans" were in the first batch, with the trolls.

this round it's mecha gnomes and the vulpera

Unless you are a  player that greatly enjoys playing one of those races tossed from the game, in which case much of your fun with WoW would have been sucked right out.

How so? Bards aren't depicted with uniformity. So long as the class touches on enough elements associated with them Blizzard can otherwise do as they wish with no basis for anyone to contest how proper it is.

Not really. Because the point is to re-work the entire game mechanics to be fun. People are not dying to play WoW because of what amounts to a skin and some skill point differentiation. Not that any of this matters since it will never happen. WoW is a dead game soul wise.
