Bazgrim could be the #1 fan of Pantheon,
He dedicates all of his free time following Pantheon. His videos are inspiring and makes the viewer feel good.  He takes it upon himself to interview Brad and his team and keeps us informed maybe better than Visionary Realms themselves.  The game is in development for years.  Many of us get frustrated in this slow process, yet Bazgrim gives us hope and inspiration with his positive attitude, even when small changes are added to the games development.

A message to Bazgrim:
I hope Visionary Realms offers you a job on their public relations team if they haven't already !
Your hard work shows
Link at the bottom

I have a love/hate relationship with Pantheon as many of my post describe.

I love EVERYTHING about the "first generation concept".  I have a lot of respect for Visionary Realms and their ideas of bringing back the ideas of character building to make the player better and stronger.  Each player has the chance to bring their own utility bag of tricks along for the ride to change up group dynamics in an extremely harsh First Generation environment.

People often ask for new ideas in a stale market.... Well here it is !...... This will be huge and I'll tell you why...... In the real world people are for the most part selfish, it's human nature.  Visionary Realms is offering a unique chance to allow players to make characters to show off what they made and found in the world.  To sum it all up to make a trophy.

People want a trophy character..... To me its by far "the most under rated concept" of First Generation mmorpgs.  People want to bring their bag of tricks, this is the second time I mentioned that because its powerful.

Yes,  First gen mmos are about team work but the selfish side is really about me and how I preform. Think deeply about this, you will find it's true.

I apologize for my behavior and my negativity,
I seem to focus deeply on the visible programming and coding. I can't help being fixated on the idea that it's bad and permanent.  I base this off old out dated thinking by the developers.  It appears they haven't progressed at all in my personal view.

I have developed an un-justifiable hate that Visionary Realms is taking a much needed concept and implementing it poorly through bad software ideas when infact so many games show advancement in this area and can easily pump out content using such advancements.   I'll try and keep my thoughts to myself, and again I apologize.

So Bazgrim believes elitism drove first gen MMOs? Weird.

Perhaps for some sure, but for me it was the social interactions with other players, good and bad which used to make me enjoy logging in every day.

Once MMOs became largely single player experiences where players couldn't really impact others I decided i was better off playing single player games.

No joke, I felt closer ties to the NPC companions in FO4 than most MMORPGs I tried in the past ten years, probably why I went back four times to do it all again, something I rarely ever do.

BTW, appropriate thread for a spammer to invade.  :D

Honstly Delete, you are going to be so disappointed in this game. You are buying into the #1 issue that some players fall into: taking what is being shown and then inflating it to match the "game in your head."

Also, are you a coder? Do you know anything about Software development? If so then "great" but it seems like you look at what is being offered, in Alpha (pre-alpha?) and then take it to be finished. For some unknown reason.

You need to stop it. You need to get perspective. If this game launches (which I hope it does) it will have a few "new" ideas and mostly be a platform to encourage players to play together. That's it. Stop putting it on a pedestal. It won't serve you well.

Aion does, there are a few others I played as well but the names escape me at the moment.
you mean hide other players so you can run the game in wars? or what we called f12, or blade and soul ctrl+f?

if so they hide other players you can still target and kill then, on aion during sieges that was the only way to play sieges, you only read the name and only show the target you had, and still lagged like hell

It may not be going exactly how Delete wants, but name the fan out there who is totally happy with the way any game they like is developing? Try not to have gaming heroes Delete, they can let you down. You seem to be keeping an eye on Pantheon, not sure you need another gaming pundit's advice. End of the day we will get the reviews, all I am hoping for is that for at least some of our indie MMO's they are good ones.

'Turn off players' sounds awful, the company running the game should be taking action against other players when notified of their actions. This just seems like a way of allowing those with bad behaviour to get away with it, as long as they are putting money into the game.

I don't think it has anything to do with being a buzzkill.

But players, some players, just can't keep things in perspective. They either expect too much or create things in their heads and the when the game can't fulfill their creations they take to the forums in all their anger to rant and rave.

Personally, I want the game to succeed. I've backed the game. But Delete seems to come up with a new soapbox theme where he expresses how this game is going to be a huge thing or he is disappointed that the game is not moving along based on the time table in his head.

I am betting, right now, that if this game launches, Delete will not like it or find enough disappointing things that he will then come to the forum complaining about how they had a missed opportunity or how there isn't enough content (for an indy mmorpg with no huge budget where they will have to launch and add content as they can) and he will then quit.

Saying that this game will be something that it's not doesn't help it at all. It just spreads misinformation and makes it so that the developers have more of an uphill battle to get the correct word out.

Saying that the game needs to progress in a certain way when those people are not developers and are not part of this development team is also a problem.

Um OP. You will not find deeper character building than what ESO has, in any “generation”.

Trust me this is what keeps my playing mmorpgs for years. The ability to create what’s uniquely mine and show it off.

Just thought you should know, what you’re raving about here already exists in a major way.

Yeah i have a strong sense he has been sort of tainted in that like most mmorpg gamer's,they all began in Wow and THINK that is what a mmorpg should be.

People often are not very in depth in their thought processes....that is old idea...me hate.

I have a simple way of looking at things,if an idea is good,it just is but it also has to make sense and not just some idea that makes something EASIER >>for YOU.You can slide in most of Wow's design into the EASIER but makes no sense realm of game design.

"trophy"ideas...grrr if you know me,i detest anything that is about bragging,if you need to brag about something then your not a rpg gamer.I disagree strongly,it is not human nature, each individual is a by product of their piers/upbringing.I feel way more comfort in knowing me and some online friends accomplished something together rather than bragging about anything of myself.

Tough ,challenging, difficult challenges be it partying or a quest or even farming brings players together and gives one the satisfaction of accomplishment. However there is a fine line to how difficult content should be,i detest RAIDS...period,no need for them at all, they are not tougher, they are more cumbersome needing more players.

I would have normally looked the other way but one thing Brad said got me interested. He said i want everything in this game >>>to MAKE SENSE.Way too often ideas don't make any sense, ruining immersion does not make sense,so i am willing to give this team a shot and HOPE they know what they are doing >>makes sense.

I think maybe Bazgrim is thinking of the fact that Brad is a big believer in  "tip of the spear" player motivation and inspiration. The idea that you come across some elite player dressed in fancy gear and wielding fancy weapons, and say to yourself "some day I want to be that guy."  Then you go out and start working to pursue that dream.

I suppose that is ok up to a point. Sure I have seen people with cool stuff and thought "that would be nice to have." But personally when I played EQ I didn't devote much time to worrying about what the elite players were doing, or what they were getting for doing it. I was a member of a sub community matching my level, available play time, style of play, and so on. I was a lot more interested in what people like me were doing than what some elite dude somewhere was doing. Just like if one of my co-workers were to get a new car, I would be mildly interested, but if Bill Gates gets a new car I won't know or care.

I swear if I could spend 5 minutes with Brad McQuaid I would urge him to become better attuned to the idea that we are not all out there wringing our hands because we are not the coolest kids in school. These games can be very much enjoyed without being max level, and without having the best stuff.

But that's not a guarantee; it's a bet, a hunch, a gamble.  You are talking like a fanatic instead of a rational person.  Of course the Devs are going to tell you the game is coming out.  Companies lie, exaggerate and/or withhold the truth because honesty will affect their bottom line.  I'm not saying VR is doing this, but why trust them blindly.  Especially given the lack of clarity and details for Pantheon after being in development for over 5 years now. Brad had great success with early EQ and then he released a product that was not complete and clunky with Vanguard.  That's hardly a proven track record.  It's more like a 50% success rate.

And even if it does come out it does not mean you were right with your guarantee.

Well, all those things are why I chose to back it as well as seeing the work that they have done. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say it will release. Things happen, work gets drawn out, and the money they thought they had will take them to release might get used up.

I think there is a good chance it will release given the developers have work to show and work that is far along. Whether they have enough to launch the game remains to be seen.

I think this area they are working on as a "showcase" for the game is more to get additional funding than enticing players (which it might also do).
