New ship featuring new gameplay announced - $675

rpmcmurphyrpmcmurphy Member EpicPosts: 3,502
CIG announced a new ship at its recent 'Aegis VIP' event.

To buy tickets for the event you needed to have spent over $1000 on Star Citizen, the tickets were $275 per head and in return for your $275 you got the privilege of being pitched a new $675 ship for you to spend your money on...

Holy moly....

It’s numbered sequentially so you can show off how big your epeen is.

Also a mine deployment and disarming ship? Enjoy your useless ship since the mechanics doesn’t exist but guess it’s a moot point if it’s just a jpeg

If you've got a willing horse(whale), squeeze another couple hundred dollars outta them.

Just another example of CIG selling people their own dreams.

But as the once and future most-expensive-game-eveh,  I guess it's par for the course.

This is not a game, it is pay the bills of the people so called making a game. Pay their house payment, bmw's, etc etc...this game will never be made. I truly feel bad for people supporting it. I think it is a travesty whats going on.

It took 6 months to produce this ship (Feb 6th - Jul 31st) and it still excludes proper systems within the ship for actual fleshed out gameplay, Lets suppose that they have 12 people working on this for 6 months. That's about $43,000 per person, a stupid $516,000 to produce a half finished game asset.

The demographic enabling Roberts and his exercise in excessiveness.

I don't know. I find it kinda funny even if the (potential) consequences are (very) troubling. People throw away their money at shit like this, then whine and rage when they git broke. ...lol is all I can really say.

They certainly got their target audience. I want to see how much theyre paying people who psychoanalyze the idiots who keep spending money on this nonsense. But then again they probably dont need such a 'specialist'.

Everything about this feeds to some mental defect in people.

Having a 'special' (probably billed as 'secret' as well) meeting. One for "ViPs'' (whose only 'importance' was they have spent over a grand on this abortion) CHARGE them for it, and then roll out yet ANOTHER 500+ dollar ship. Then for the final touch they are (another) 'exclusive' and numbering the ships in the order in which they are purchased?

Also its a ship that apparently has more 'game' features. In something thats NOT a game, and features that dont even exist in the tech demo fantasyland theyre all living it.

Incredible. Actually not really. Until people STOP buying this shit or the guy gets arrested it will continue perpetually. Because that is what this is now. I am sure its a game to these guys at this point. Trying to figure out how long they can keep it going and fool people. With little to no threat of any real world consequences for this scam why stop? If you dont have a conscience then there is nothing to answer to for these guys.

I see a whole bunch of chunky middle-aged guys like myself in that picture. Plenty of excess cash to throw around like myself. Thank god that I saw the writing on the wall years ago and put this experiment on the backburner.

I went to the meet and greet they had running concurrently during the 2015 PAX South in San Antonio and it was fun. A lot of hope then. A lot of bullshit flying too, and not all of it from CR and friends. I spoke to maybe a dozen people about what they felt was a honest timeline for when we would see the whole game (SQ42 and the PU as advertised at the time). Most said 2 years for SQ42 and another year after that TOPS for PU. When I said that if SQ42 was not feature complete by 2018 I was out most agreed they would be too. Well I bailed about a year before then because it was obvious that the game is going nowhere. I always wondered if those I talked to did the same.

ON-TOPIC: The whole CR Gang is just fucking with everybody now. Seriously. Trolling. Putting my tin-foil hat on I wonder if CR has been linked to any 3-letter agencys that conduct social or psychological experiments cause this seems kinda suspect at this point. Kinda kidding here but... :o

Well is certainly a ship directed to the big military ORG's!
I guess I can hope as peasants can play Minesweeper in space, could be fun! Whenever it comes :D

I hope those backers had a great time and that the meal and mingle with the dev's was enjoyable.

Thank you whales for funding the dream I guess...

May you keep splashing money on the best damn space sim while admiring us peasants from above ! B)

considering a rare mount in ragnarok mobile is $60,000, I'm surprised they didn't outright charge $10 million for the ship. ;)

Well ship prices are also based also on how costly is to make a ship not only on how valuable it will be in terms of gameplay or how rare it should be.

These aren't simple reskins or small cosmetic items but big vehicles fully modelled and detailed at a 1:1 scale inside and out.
They need to have functional and modelled interiors, damage states gfx along with graphics, animated landing gears, etc.

In the end having so many ships it makes for a richier and more diverse universe for everyone.

This luxury ship bellow costed 890$

Despite not having much firepower or military value it caters to the RP's and second life folks who want to be space milionaires cruising in style lol

    Whatever floats their boat!

Thanks for pledging I guess!  B)

One has to wonder really, i mean it could be years before the game is released, and even then there is little indication that the games servers will even support the player numbers for just one of these ships, of course, turning concept art into an actual in game item, who knows how long that will actually take, i am surprised they even have enough time to develop the game with the backlog of ships they have yet to 'finish'  :p

I don't understand how ships that are running players hundreds of dollars for a game that isn't even close to launching is a temptation? I could do so many more things with $675 than waste it on a ship in a video game.

Could Roberts file for bankruptcy and keep all the concept money ?

If he has cash in the bank it would have to be used to settle accounts.  You can not declare bankruptcy without actually showing you cannot met you financial commitments.
