I don't want to go watch a movie about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms starring Vince Vaughn and Idres Elba; I want an authentic cast made up of East Asians.

I do agree with this. Don't see a problem with Little Mermaid being African-American as her race doesn't matter in the movie. They never bring it up once or her red hair (though I do think they should keep that). However when making a movie or TV that takes place in a historical setting or got its mythological from historical settings that is when race matters.

The Little Mermaid is based on European mythology as well. She is the daughter of Triton who is the son of Poseidon, the Greco-Roman god of the seas.

Ariel and her singing are based on the tale of the sirens, who would lure men to their death with their beautiful song.

It's the author's fantasy version of Europe, but it's clearly still intended to be a middle ages European setting based on European history and folklore.

As a established writer myself. I see this all the time. Its the lay of the land. It may be a bitter pill to swallow but that is how it is. Sometimes Hollywood is trying to push an agenda but most of the time its just Hollywood to scared to try something new.

Ripley as a dude works for the first movie, but you would have to rewrite all the other Aliens movies. It's not just about backstory i.e. loosing her daughter then finding Newt or Aliens: Resurrection where her clone is the mother. It's also the way other characters respond and act around her, not with just words, but also body language and facial expressions.

Would a male Ripley be in any danger of murder or rape in Steelworks from the third movie, aside from the alien? If there wasn't that danger, than what's in it for the viewer? If there's nothing, then why should the viewer invest into the character?

Or the moment she became the leader of the survivors and kicked some alien ass? Would the survivors react the same if Ripely was a dude? Re-writing any of the original Aliens movies would be an insta-fail. Ripely was a badass that happened to be a woman, but it wouldn't make sense any other way. And that's ok.

007 is a naughty British dude, not a third-generation Japanese immigrant, not a woman of any origin. There's more to the 007 character than chasing a villain with gadgets and pistol. And that character shouldn't change just because it's "current year, man".

I'll never go watch Brad Pitt play as MLK no matter how many people tell me "why does it matter?".

Maybe most new IPs die fast because they just suck. What reboot hasn't sucked? They should do better. Stealing is lazy and it shows. That's not an opinion, it's fact. Otherwise, those movies would be doing just as good as the originals.

They want to destroy our culture (books, music, ect) to be inclusive. To what end? How far back do we have to go? Is Mozart off limits? Shakespear? The moon landing? Are we going to re-create Japanese culture to be inclusive (aka less-Japanese)? Or is this strictly directed towards Whites?

I think there are better ways to have diversity without it involving taking something away from one group or shitting on them, then celebrating it. Politics divides people, but using a group of people to abuse the other group pisses everyone off. Then again, there's nothing diverse about us all being the same.

I say, leave Group X alone. They are not incapable. They don't need help from Group Y. Stop thinking they are helpless. If they want to create their own stories, I'm all for it.

The problem with that isn't that there are no Native Americans who want to act but a lot of time minorities are told that their isn't enough roles for them to be apart of. The few who decide to pursue it anyway then find that there are only a few roles a year for their ethnicity so then they have to fight 100 or so people for one role.

I mean a lot of people like to say that Hollywood is going completely left. That they are are just trying to please the SJW crowd and all that jazz. However, most hollywood movies still to this day are mostly white actors. Be that female or male. Look at the cast for every Marvel Movie or TV show that was announced today. It was probably the most diverse line up yet. Still mostly people who are white.
