only one thing, 2020, why I think the game will nor survive that long on 2020?
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

I honestly really like PSO2, I've played the JP servers for a while. I would go in and out of playing it though due to the fact that there was always some translation errors or things that weren't translated that I wanted to be able to read and that would just completely make me not want to play for some reason.

Hopefully this isn't too late, I'll play however long it stays up in the West though.

I played this on a Japanese account, yeah creating the account was one hell of a thing. It was pretty linear but the skills and classes were interesting. It was a pity I had to stop because I kept getting frozen in place every few minutes making it a chore to play.

I've been asking for this for a long time, I even commented on it not just 2 weeks ago...

For those that haven't ever played a Phantasy Star Online game, it IS an action combat game, and always has been.

Phantasy Star Online was my first "mmo" way back on dreamcast where it was largely hub based.  In missions, battles were similar to a lot of recent action combat MMOs out now, like Tera.

Zones were fairly linear, and it had components of being repetitive.  Phantasy Star Universe was a huge upgrade from that.

There were great things that phantasy star did.  The Symbol chat was just fun, the combat was excellent, the community was definitely on par with the nicest I have ever been a part of.  You had Mags that you could feed and eventually they would battle with you. You could setup player shops to sell your own stuff.

It was a great game. I never wanted to go through the trouble of figuring out how to get a japanese account, it wouldn't be the same.  Now that PSO2 is coming... I might have a new MMO for a while. I hope some of you will reach out and come join me when the time comes :)

The reason it was so late is because Sega wanted Sony to translated and port it to the west, Sony declined. Microsoft told them they'd do it. Though, I question why they are doing so now so late into the games life.

Because it is still insanely popular. There are tons of westerners playing this with an English patch.

PSO2 is exactly what you described in PSO.  Hub-based, tiny zones, etc etc.  BUT it will be free, might as well try it.

I know what to expect from the series, I think people just expect it to be more of a traditional MMO.  I'm excited to play it.. for no other reason than nostalgia for me, but I feel it will have greater appeal than just that.

One thing I used to love, and I don't know if they have it in PSO2 was the casino.  We used to have groups just hanging out in the casino playing roulette. It was a neat meeting hub where you could win stuff.  The good ol' days :D

Yeah i missed the PC part,i was right off working hard so i was likely very tired.
Makes a big difference if on PC but still i don't want an ARPG,i still might take a look,if the combat is more in tune with a rpg,i might get it.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Phantasy Star franchise has been near and dear to me from childhood.

All they do with each "online" iteration of this game is butcher it further.

Imagine if someone took a Lovecraft book and turned it into some teenie bopper Twilight thing. That would encompass how I feel about the game. SEGA falling back on bringing this stateside eased my pain. Now it's going to get ripped to shreds over and over.

The whole game is super arcadey (worse than it's ever been), and I mean that in the 1990s cabinet way, and the story is convoluted loli foolery.

    No, unacceptable low class. *scoffs*

Everything looks great....except one word..."ACTION" combat,NO THANKS,i do not like action combat or how it is delivered in any rpg.

This seems to be Xbox only anyhow,i am not buying or playing any console games.

I also notice a bit of deceptive marketing here, the mention of FAIR and FREE to play >>"package"

Why on earth would you need to throw in the term "package",it is not simple enough to just say FREE/FAIR with a purchase price?

I get the feeling this is not going to be sold as marketed,i sense there will be some added cash shop but they are avoiding the mention of it right now.

"COSMETIC" NO p2W yep i can see it coming.

Wizardry, you're a freaking meme at this point in MMORPG's comment sections.
