For anyone who did not start playing until about ten years ago an 'off tank' is a group role which has mob pick up and tanking duties as needs be. For that matter if you did not start playing MMOs until five years ago a tank is the role who holds the aggro from the main mob or boss.

Now get back to your zerg, the above required some thinking. :)

Works slightly different in FFXIV oddly enough. An off tank tends to just be an extra mitigation to the main tank so the main tank could spend as much time as they could dealer more damage (pretty much why warriors were the go to main tank for almost everything). Since they increased paladins overall damage output in stormblood significantly, Dark Knight just got left in the dust. Even more oddly, after looking at Dark Knight's overall tool kit, they'll honestly still be left in the dust since they dont really add anything comparatively to the others. At this point they should honestly just turn it into a dps. That or significantly gimp warriors; however, if they do that, people will just roll double paladins if they dont already. Only makes things 'worse' too this expansion cause paladin gets a cool down this expansion that pretty much gives them infinite mp for a few seconds, so gg. To be fair though, paladin was kind of 'crapped' on before Stormblood.

I only like expansion openings because I see that random dude that I kind of know log in that hasn't logged in for over a year x 100.
