I told people he wouldn't get life in prision, he will also likely get out before 20 years or at 20 if good behavior and remorse is shown.

I've been swatted once IRL by some racist idiots calling in phony pranks to the police so I know what that is like, but it leads me to concerns.

The only reason this idiot was caught is because he did it from home, and talked to other people about doing it so assume that a person doesn't let anyone else they are doing it, and instead does the swatting call from a "Bruner Phone" using "Public IP address" and Spoofing methods that cannot be traced to the user done once and then destroyed after, there is nothing to trace the calls back except "Voice Matching, and CCTV Footage but that can be avoided."

Look at Ice Poseidon though how people frame him using his IP address to do things by hacking into his equipment and stuff to leave fake threats on a persons twitter account think it was a mayor.

Obviously I don't beleive he did anything but because it came from his IP Address they took all his equipment even though he did nothing.

Also California forcing anyone to get a film license who records videos in public is insane even if its just from your phone or go-pro as a biker for example its just dumb.

Why the fuck did they shoot him? If the police didnt shoot somebody, the guy wouldn’t be doing 20 years.

Police shooting someone on such an incident, one knows without checking it must have happened in the USA.

    *actually checks*

    Correct, it happened in Kansas.

    *sigh*

I think 20 years is quite plenty for this. He would be 46 when he gets out again. His best years will be over. If I was the victim I wouldnt feel I need to haunt the judge from the afterlife for being too soft.

Please set a sig so I can read your posting even if somebody "agreed" etc with it. Thanks.

I don't want to read it because i don't want to hear about some innocent victim being killed by law enforcement.
Guns don't kill people, telephone calls don't kill people, people kill people and seems the older we become as a race the less we respect human life.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Of course, it happened in the U.S. The United States is one of the very few countries where you can outright disrespect a Law Officer and expect to get away with it. I saw first hand what happens in Germany when you get mouthy with a cop, you eat pavement. Same in Austria, sadly I fucked up when I was in England and I got roughed up a bit. So no shit our cops shoot more people in a day than most countries do in a decade, never mind we are one of the largest countries we also do more to handicap our cops than most countries. Anywhere I went in Europe, Asia, shit even Mexico no one wanted to cross the cops because if you do, they are going to contain the situation immediately. They do not have to negotiate with anyone to do their jobs, and this leads to far fewer shooting. In my case, I didn't get shot but by the time they got their point across I was thinking that might have been a better option.

Now to your next bout of genius, 20 years WOULD be enough if this was a one-time thing. But the perpetrator had a history of doing this kind of thing and should have been smacked a lot harder in my opinion. As a matter of fact, were I the family I would find out which gang was working in his prison and make a sizable donation to someone's canteen to ensure the fuckead that caused my loved on to be killed never saw daylight again.

At 46 your "best years are behind you" is highly subjective.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

Those countries also have an extreme amount of corruption with their legal system.  If you ever think you aren't getting a fair shake in the US.. travel down to Mexico where they basically hold you hostage and you have to pay bribes.  You go through that a couple of times and I doubt you will criticize the US anymore.

Also, you guys need to put yourselves in the officer's shoes.. you get a call about a hostile situation that is potentially deadly.  These guys are human too, that is not the kind of call they want to get.  They are going into a situation not knowing if they are going to see their family tomorrow.. so yes, they are going to be trigger happy.. as you would be too in that situation.  At the end of the day it's whoever is in that house vs you.. and pretty much every single person on the planet is going to pick themselves first.

The problem is not the cops, it's the people who are swatting, they are setting up a deadly situation and this guy deserves every year he gets.  And think about this, this is the type of bullshit that cops have to deal with:

This might be fun in a video game, but in real life getting shot at is an entirely different ballgame.

I have been to all the continents save Antarctica and shit ton of countries. I have been locked up in Mexico, the U.K., and Kenya. Drunken brawling, nothing too serious. I have first-hand knowledge of what I am speaking about. Thanks.

As far as corruption, even though it has exactly nothing to do with my previous comment, the United States is pretty famous for having corrupt cops. You are familiar with New Orleans right? How about D.C.? I can name others my point is, throwing "they are tough on idiots" out there because of corruption is not a well thought out assertion.

The actual point is: don't mess with cops in a lot of foreign countries as they will gain control of the situation as fast as possible.

In this case, had one of the officers that actually approached the victim put him on his face and cuffed him, the guy would be alive right now to sue the shit out of the City. He would be alive, a bit roughed up sure, but alive. Which I assure you, his family would much prefer.

Before this kicks off another debate, I am in no way condoning this guy getting killed, nor police brutality, but honestly, you can see a hundred examples on youtube of people going out of their way to just be an ass to cops, when if they would have done as the officer asked they would have been on their way in a few minutes.

I don't know what scares me more about Swatting.  The fact that there are psycho's out there who want to see your life get ended on camera if possible or the fact that heavily armed police will simply kick down your door and start shooting at the insistence of complete and total strangers.

Let's role play for a moment.

I'm Sheriff Tom in Smalltownfieldville Iowa and I've known Bob my whole life.  Bob is an upstanding member of the community and an avid gamer.  Bob calls up one day and says "Hey, I was watching this stream online and a kid in our county is threatening to kill his whole family while loading a gun."  Well, I'd be pretty inclined to race to the scene and probably even kick a door down ready to start shooting.

I've got a good tip from a reliable source that I know and trust.

Now I'm Sheriff Tom again, except this time I get a phone call from a payphone in New York and some young sounding kid on the other end is telling me that a kid in my county is on a stream threatening to kill his whole family and is loading a gun on camera.  I'd be a heck of a lot less inclined to start kicking doors down and shooting.

Maybe it's just because I worked in the Intelligence Community for so long that I'm used to looking for deception around every corner, but there's a huge difference between intelligence from trusted sources and utter bullshit that someone is throwing at the wall to see if it will stick.

You worked in intelligence, I worked in crisis response as a bomb technician. When you are doing this type of work you don't have the luxury of being cautious when you get a threat like that. Again, no need to go in guns blazing, but you certainly need to do everything you can to protect yourself, your team, and the civilians around the scene.

You all seem to act like the Police Officers have all the time in the world to investigate, question, etc. They don't, it is a crisis response for a reason and it is sad some fucking idiots figured out how to abuse the system but they did.

Before the fire department rolls should they question the neighbors and make sure it is credible? Or better yet, Yeah I need at least two neighbors to call me and verify this emergency before I roll this ambulance out to handle your heart attack. Then you would all be bitching about how slow emergency services is to respond.

Also, it wasn't the entry team that shot this guy, it was an officer that thought he saw suspect behavior, so in reality, the Swat team wasn't the culprits here.

Anyway, this conversation is about as useful as trying to push a rope uphill.

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

Blame the cop if you want.  I don't.  That punk was the impetus for the whole thing.
Yep, that jerk got what he had coming.

Hopefully it'll be a warning for the other immature kiddies that pull this sort of crap.
