Watch in the end they will spend millions on marketing and have a crappy game.

They already have a nice game in my opinion. And it gets better every month.

Those gamers who want a great - and complete - game just can wait until its done.

When is that? When its done ;-)

The truth is if Star Citizen put as many financial resources towards core development as they did their fancy JPG ship selling marketing campaigns they'd probably be working on another system by now if not further. Forbes magazine -a very reputable and respected financial source- recently wrote quite a revealing expose on CIG and the state of Star Citizen. https://www.forbes.com/sites/mattperez/2019/05/01/exclusive-the-saga-of-star-citizen-a-video-game-that-raised-300-millionbut-may-never-be-ready-to-play/#79c87ad05ac9

Can you guys let me know when a Star Citizen backer passes away from old age and the game still isn't released. I'm going to dance on his grave. LOL

Alpha is not a Fully Released game (has limited access not willing to pay to get into that), but rather a bug infused crap sandwich that u eat everyday and wish u were playing freelancer instead. That's what star citizen is to its fans right now. This will only change if it is OFFICIALLY out not alpha not beta not gamma or what ever stage but as a final product with dlc options.

Edit: 7 years of development and $300 mil and it still isn't in a state to release and now they are redoing the net code for it FUDGE ME because it cannot handle rubber banding lag or any sort of latency

I particularly don't want to mention anthem had a rough start to say the least but that still managed to go from nothing to released game in 18 months yeah its kinda lacklustre but the thing is it didnt take long to get to that point with star citizen mind they keep adding "features" which "delays" instead of relaseing the game to the masses (making more money) and doing updates like every other effing game out there like EVE, ELITE DANGEROUS, WARFRAME etc etc

I wonder how long is two long? Ten years? Twenty? No end date and it's done when it's done is a designers idea of heaven. You never have to stop designing and redesigning. I'll be surprised if S42 makes their beta schedule. Not a good track record so far.

Thing is they have made their money from kickstarter and private investors ( wouldnt be surprised if this totalled over $500mil-1bill now) and taking their time will only get them so far with people and investors, now they will be pressured to have a release within the next year because people hate losing money even im losing interest in this game and i love this genre.

Like i said in a previous post it would be better for them to go full retard in the long run and release the game ASAP and then patch for the next 6 months then add features. they only have so much good will with people.

mismanagement of cash and lack of focus is why this game is taking too long.

Edit Calling it now star citizen tap is coming out for mobile devices so they can raise more funds with micro transactions. The hook of this game is if u tap enough u can get a free ingame ship in the main game but getting enough taps is impossible unlesss u buy microtransactions

There is a whole thread on the Forbes thread - a definite suggestion of clickbait but that comes as no surprise when SC is involved.

Poor backers seem content with an alpha after so long. Almighty Lord Roberts could completely drop this game and the cultists would still agree that he released a game.

the only cultists actually defending it are the paid employees disguised as fans/backers. Or backers who are in for the minimum and figure their 20 or 30 bucks or whatever is getting them 'something'.

Now there are probably a few guys with more money than brains who have spent the huge amounts on pixels who are still content, but I suspect the majority of people who have thrown significant amounts of money at this are getting antsy or have already received or tried to receive refunds.

Forbes did not write this article and did not endorsed it either. Author are responsible of what they write.

This article have been clearly pinpointed as lazy (to be nice) and click-bait, with author pretending to have spend 7 months on "investigation"... while it is just a copy/paste of years old "drama" and unrelated information about CR's house.
"journalism" as its worst... backers did not jump in this new attempt to create false news: + 1M$ in a couple weeks :)
    Keep coming naysayers.

But Beta (SQ42) is in 5 quarters not 5 years or never... So you did not yet understood that the big cash involved is coming AFTER release and that current expenses are to create the game(s)? They do incentive to release because it means less development and more cash hence more profit. Think before writing dude.
