Is there any grouping at all? I don't mind a grind as long as it's not solo.

    Kano explained it pretty well.
    You can group for guild bosses and scrolls as well, and a handful of other things. But for the most part you'll definitely be soloing. It's not like WoW, SWTOR, FFXIV or other games where on most days you'll be doing group content.

    There is some grouping in the harder portions of the game, and to kill whales and such on boats.  There are also going to be quite a few more group monsters coming soon when the next area is released. 

    While it is a mostly soloable game, if you want to group there are reasons to do it, and it doesn't generally hurt you in many places where most players are soloing.
