This mostly seems similar to EQ and WoW. Most games really. The new part is being able to click on another player who may be far, far away to do the trade.

It's just a blog explaining one of the features in the next patch, it's not intended to be anything sensational, lol

Hmm, a bit of a fail, really. Having to travel to a location to facilitate a trade and take possession of the goods is a core feature of a virtual world in my book.

Hmm, this seems to be exactly that. I am not sure on how the market hubs work...but this is talking player to player trades.

And you need to be with the person to trade..and have the room in inventory, for the barter system it sounds like.

This seems a lot like "entropia minus the casino" is it just me?

If you think 50m is "far, far away", then you're correct !

It's just the standard player-to-player trading function that exists in most games, so in addition to actually being able to see the player, there will be range limitations as well. DU is still in early alpha, so the feature has not been implemented until now.

Yeah, I went and read the actual article on the DU site and they do have markets, this just supplements direct player trading.

A bit surprising a system I take for granted these days was considered a notable event and given a fancy name like "barter system.'

This one is right out of the Path of Exiles (and I'm sure a dozen more games) design manual.
