Its been a while since I did an update on this.
If you use to play D&D and loved pen and paper dungeons the player dungeons are just like them.
Just like graph paper maps you can create your own dungeons and decorate them as you see fit.
you take various crafted halls, intersections and rooms and connect them just like you would on graph paper.
you can go up and down levels with stairs and tunnels , as well add encounter rooms.
You have basic entrance which is the starting point and grow it from there.
The size of the dungeon starts based on your lot size and can be upgraded using gold or Crowns.
Encounter rooms are gathered from bosses and other mobs around the world which drop a recipe which gives you the knowledge to build the room, and a blueprint which is used in crafting to make it along with possible other components.
Halls etc are bought from the NPC book stores in game and are setup the same way a recipe and a blueprint.
once you know a recipe you only need blueprints and the materials to keep making those parts.
Encounter rooms can be upgraded though collecting of essence. example Troll essences 100 of them are used to craft a troll level 1 totem which is used to spawn a low level troll (1 does not = level 1 of the creature but rather the base level of what a normal troll would be) If you craft 6 level 1 totems you can then combine them into a level 2 and once 6 level 2 totems are made you can combine it to level 3 and so on which allows you to make your dungeon harder and harder.
there are future types of upgrades in the works such as making a room do x waves of a mob then spawn a boss, or various other combinations to make each room unique based on how you want the encounter to work (these are still slowing coming out).
There are also deco only rooms which are used to add character to your dungeon. Like fishing holes, various 3x3 rooms, 6x6 etc. in all shapes and sizes.
Currently loot is only from the encounters, however the dungeon plans in the near future include these:
Player Quest NPC's with custom dialogs and quests
Player Keys for doors and chests
Chest rules (loot once only, only open on death of encounter etc)
Traps which can be upgraded like encounters
hidden doors and other triggers for dungeons.
Player quest NPC scripting for emotes and other things
Player items that are bound to trigger (if player has this item you made then they can enter this door)
Wandering Monsters
All these are slated over the next 4 months based on the development roadmap and info provided from the developer twitch streams.
The idea is that you can setup a complete dungeon and story if you choose and not only get loot from encounters but offer rewards you make through your design. If someone makes it all the way through you can have a loot box which they can open if they got the key. That key could be a found item, or perhaps something that is bought from a vendor you setup, or even require them to come see you and maybe do some RP to make a trade for the key... you can publish notes and books in game to help drive your story beyond npc's or offer clues as to where to obtain items to progress deeper into the dungeon.
These are just a few of the things coming this year over the next few months on top of what is already in game now.
There are some large guilds in the game that already have dungeons larger then any zone in the game which is just crazy.
I recommend looking into youtube and twitch streams to see some of what is out there its pretty slick. a dungeon designers dream.
