It has been a couple of weeks since the Conqueror’s Blade House CBT downed swords and we all limped back to lick our wounds. While the battlefield remains relatively peaceful for now, the team behind My.com’s newest MMORPG are not away on R&R. Instead, they’ve been busily working on internal tests and processing the data they gathered over an intensive testing run, over the start of this year. While we had the chance, we sat down and spoke to Xi Wang from Booming Games, the blacksmiths forging this brand-new experience.

The hero combat is arcadey and nothing at all like mount & blade or tiger knight which ruins it for me.
I don't know what happens, but it seems to me that developers have become dumb since 2009 or so. Guess I will blame these "digital game class" that were supposed to graduate good developers but instead they only teach how to look at the market and steal money from players.
agreed. something happened after 2009, everything went to oblivion.
The game is more about sieges and open world battles. I can't say that hero combat is arcadey, but, you know, everybody's got their own opinion.
The hero combat is just like elderscrolls online and gw2, you click a key and perform a skill. And each weapon has a different skill type. There is no directional attack/blocking, click lmb gets a generic 1 direction swing. That seems pretty arcade to me.
The dual daggers you can go invisible pop in and attack stun enemy run off and go invisible again before the guy you stunned can catch you.
The open world part is just like M&B Warband except you get to see other players in it. If they had did what Tiger Knight EW did and made the combat more akin to Warband's skill based directional combat without flashy moves I would play this game non stop but as it is the combat is what makes me not want to play it. But thats my personal opinion.
Mount & Blade Bannerlord is all about seiges and open world battles too. And whatever multiplayer aspects it lacks I am sure a modder will add.
Dude i like tiger knight but no one plays it or wants to play it because of its fighting system like for hornor. The european servers have about 14 players playing it, u cant play against players just bots because there are no players. the game will probably gonna be desactivated.
I also got a vague feeling of Kingdom Under Fire, y'know before Circle of Doom (Heralding the downfall of KuF ironically).
and as you see now is old build used to test server (NA/RU?EU) they new build used (china and internal test rigth now) is full new game , new smooth experience i so please with this game
Yes i recomend
The game is fantastic. It doesn't have directional combat, it has action combat. Something similar to what dark souls, or other action 3rd person games would have. While it is missing the directional blocking of Tigerknight or Mount and Blade, it is still a very fun combat system that requires good strategy.
If you just button mash in combat you will be crushed.
I'm guessing due to the massive scale of the battles it would be difficult to do directional combat. While in general I prefer directional combat, for whatever reason I don't mind it missing in this game.
I have played the crap out of all the beta tests and I haven't had this much fun in years.
Any game where you as a individual are able to make a significant or even critical impact on a battle, without doing so because you are over-powered in some way, is a great one in my opinion. The game manages to make conflict at all levels of scale work well and feel engaging - from a 1v1, General VS General fight, to groups of units or whole armies in the open world. It has surprising depth without being too complex, a health amount of customization potential for your General and your units but doesn't go overboard or become unrealistic, and in it's current form at least, respects that some of us have family or work commitments and doesn't require people to be online to protect their holdings 24/7 in the territorial conquest area of the game. It's not perfect, but it has a good understanding of what perfect is.
Regarding the action combat as compared to the directional mechanics in Mount & Blade; while the latter is more satisfying in some respects, given the specific context combat in Conqueror's Blade takes place within, and the diversity of both weapon types and attacks, it is understandable they have chosen or perhaps been restricted to this type of combat so as to ensure good performance. Mount & Blade fills this need very well, I don't need SB to emulate it in this regard.
Last comment of a less favorable nature - I agree with those above who disliked the stealth mechanic. While it is true stealth is a thing in many an MMO, the way it is implemented here in combination with the high tendency to be stun-locked, does not feel good if you are not the one doing the stealthing. I feel the game's combat would be better overall without it.
Looking forward to being able to play CB again soon, and I highly recommend anyone who thinks the game might interest them give it a try during the next test - there is a good chance you will enjoy it.
Great interview Ed BTW, thank-you for helping get the word out on what is, in my opinion, an underappreciated game in development. Mr. Xi's passion and good sense comes through as clearly in this piece as it does in the videos he has appeared in. Well done.
