    Congratulations to CDPR!

And seeing Witcher 3 top a Steam awards category four years after release is really impressive. It also speaks volumes about the state of the gaming industry.

Skyrim VR as VR GoTY? Thats surprising given how little it differs from every other version of Skyrim, how little the VR adds to the experience, and the fact that there are some great VR games right now delivering some amazingly immersive experiences. Oh well, only thing thatll stop Skyrim from winning awards is Elder Scrolls 6 I guess.

I think it’s an amazing vr experience. It differs because it’s vr. Doesn’t have to be anything else.

I love CDPR as much as the next guy but what exactly did they do in 2018 to win this award? Release a trailer and footage of a game without a release date still?

    Gwent / Thronebreaker?

With Apex Legends now growing like wildfire, hard to imagine that PUBG will even be around much longer, i think this is going to be a fight between Fortnite and Apex, wonder who will win ;)

I voted No Man's Sky for Labor of Love, I think...the game's not for everyone, but they sure did keep at it with the meaningful updates.

As for GotY, 2018 was definitely the year of the console exclusives.

The entire awards lists was rather disappointing, but this one the most. I didn't expect them to win, but I really wanted to be wrong.

This result shows me how out of touch I am with mainstream PC gaming. It's convinced me I should move to consoles as my primary gaming. It's cheaper for me to save up for a Switch than replace my GTX970 or build a new system. And I'd rather play the thirty-hundredth version of Mario Kart than I would wade through the pc market chasing battle royale and games as a service money. Plus, I only have to deal with one store front and library and no worries about whether it's compatible or not.

I never thought that would be me. I never owned a console until Chrostmas of 2017 when I bought my Daughters a PS4 Pro. I picked up the games they wanted which were the SP exclusives and tried them out myself and was hooked.

Last year I bought one game for PC (BFA expansion) and 14 games for PS4 all of them SP and all of them fantastic games. Half of those exclusives. Just waiting for The last of us 2 now.

I know it was called STEAM awards but why would ANYONE care about ONE app and THEIR business?

When you start tossing around words like BEST OF...and AWARDS that is normally considered in the world even though it was titled STEAM.

Or about what they have NOT done:
    - Not being absolute $h1tbags telling their customer to F OFF like Blizzard did;
    - As above, like EA did
    - As above, like Bethesda did
    - Not releasing (paid) early access utter crap packed with bugs and paid-for-DLC
    - Not having an unethical digital store rigged with spyware like Origin
    - Not siphoning hundreds of millions of crowdfunding without releasing a Minimum Viable Product..

List could go on, just read news, press releases.

There's millions of reasons why CDPR is not only the dev of the year, but of the decade, and also why they will be leading the charge for the gaming industry to go back to the art form it used to be (back in the 90s)

Someone forgot about their reaction to piracy of The Witcher 2...sending letters to suspected pirates of the game trying to extort as much as $10k to avoid legal action? Definitely a suitable reaction, that one...

The only thing it really says about the industry is that most of the best games made since the Witcher 3 have been console exclusives.
