That new race is meh, almost naked human women with bunny ears, due to costumes my first thought was that it has to do something with Tera online due to how scarce female outfits are there. Could have added something more to make them more unique.

I hope it IS. I mean, AST and DRK were in HW and the game needs another tank and another healer. SB was two DPS jobs, so I would really be surprised if DNC wasn't a healer.

I hope Dancer plays like old Fistweaver from WoW, kinda how they do in XI. I'm worried they're recycling current MCH into GUN, MCH is such a disaster by design. Let's hope that if DNC is a healer, that they aren't WHM tier.

I may just hop back in. Been over a year since I played, but I like what has been shown so far in the new exp.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I've considered it but then I remember the core endgame loop is the same and that's the reason I quit.  When content comes out every quarter than invalidates the previous it's hard for me to care about progression.

Edit: To be specific, I want meaningful long-term progression instead of an ilvl treadmill every few months while older content becomes literal NPC fodder.

^^^ This sums it up for me as well, it's a very nice game but progression has you completely trash all your hard work for new grind which will also be trashed before you know it.

I really tried to like this game but with forced dungeons included in the story line, I lost interest. I doubt it's changed?
They're adding in an NPC system so you can "solo" them.  All the MSQ is still mandatory though.....unfortunately.

That's the other problem with the game, thousands of fetch quests (there are a few that are more fun, but only a handful at most) that are mandatory instead of optional.

Still no character customization/specs eh? Everyone of the same job still have the same stats and abilities? Still a ridiculously long GCD? Moving right along...

Ppiper, FFXIV is story driven. So if you have problem with that, fine. Otherwise I would not like them to change the main thrust of the game. Also I don't think you will be missed.

You realize you can still enjoy the story even if he isn't forced to right?  What a stupid comment.

Actually, his statement makes more logic than yours does.

The core of the game is the actual story. They want you to play the story so you can see the character evolve, how the world changes and how you become the "warrior of light".

The "gem" of the game is the actual story, if you dislike that "gem" the game isn't for you.

That's what single player games are for, not mmorpgs.....It isn't the job of the developer to force feed you story whether you like it or not. Everyone plays mmorpgs for different reasons. Depending on a person's taste, ESO/GW2/SWOTR/WoW/BnS/heck even FFXI all are 'better' story-heavy, yet get you some form of in-game work around (i.e. actually going back through earlier story content to make it 'easier' to digest) for newer players. Its very off-putting especially with the degree of 'fluff' quests in the beginning arc of the game that you have to force yourself through in order to engage in later parts when you reach appropriate level. Instead of fixing this, they choose to sell you different types of skips when they could easily make each section optional and unlock when you reach the appropriate level, even FFXI did this and its 10 years older.

The game is pretty and the fights can be challenging but other elements lack forethought or are just lazy. This is just general criticism you'll see everyday on their forums.

This game really needs another tank and healer class.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

"That's what single player games are for, not mmorpgs"

Why? Because wow, didn't do it this way?

This is how they sell this particular mmorpg. Not every mmo has to be the way "mmorpgs are meant to be".

"Instead of fixing this, they choose to sell you different types of skips "

Not all they did, you can level up with double experience for any under 60 characters. This way you can skip all the "fluff" quests. All you do is play the main story. No more side story quests.

"This is just general criticism you'll see everyday on their forums."

I disagree. The only complaints related to the story is the ARR story being bad from multiple reasons. Too many dungeons, annoying character(s) and lack of skills to name a few.

Everything related to the game story after ARR is amazing and probably the main reason a lot of us resub every time they drop an expansion.

the MSQ is skippable up to the current expac stormblood

its true that MSQ has tons of fetch quest (more in the 1-50 ) however playing FFXIV and not doing the MSQ is a HUGE MISTAKE

What it really needs is the ability to play different classes/jobs in different roles. I enjoy the plate wearing dps role in my MMORPG's. Why can i still not do that with Warrior or Dark Knight? Those were my two most played and enjoyed jobs in FFXI.

That aspect is the largest deterrent for me returning since the game relaunched with ARR.

Ive never understood why companies do this, just because someone lives in the 3rd world doesnt mean they should get some magical discount.

I live in the USA but am nowhere near wealthy, why dont i get a discount too?

Yes and no. Because I think he does have a point though crudely phrased. A game isn’t magically cheaper when you live somewhere else, anywhere. Unless of course it was made in said country for a lower price as well. These games aren’t made locally though so these prices reflect their, more expensive, origin.

Is that fair? I guess not, but its not unreasonable. Games becoming ridiculously expensive theough weird conversions though? Makes no sense.
