The equipment loadouts instead of real character development seems pretty weak. It wouldn't be bad if there was both an equipment system and a decent character development system. I was hoping for a lot more. Oh well, I figured I wasn't really part of their target market. I just wish these big devs threw us peons that like adult-oriented rpgs and not games designed with seven year olds in mind a bone once in a while.

I assume following the storyline unlocks more game content. Anything about interactions with other players not on your team? During freeplay will I run into other players? They said you can solo, can you complete the main story solo? What's the penalty for death?

    The harsh reality is this:

The success of this game will be dependent on the filthy casuals. If they buy, play, and enjoy the game, then it's a success.

World of Warcraft was successful not because of Ultima Online players, or Everquest players. WoW was successful because of the masses that never played a MMORPG liked and enjoyed the game.

The masses that complained 40 man raid is too hard. Blizzard made it easier.
The masses that complained 25 man raid is too hard. Blizzard made it easier.
The masses that complained raiding with a guild is too hard. Blizzard made it easier.
    Etc etc etc.

So the question is. Are you a filthy casual? If not, then your opinion doesn't matter. Life is unfair.

They didn't show the character development in the video, just the Javelin loadouts/customization.
Javelin gets all the abilities because it's hardware. The character development is more pilot related.

    In order of sentences:
    1. dev talked being able to get the story spoiled by joining missions before you reached that point but the game warning you about it. It might only happen if you join a friend that is that far into the story though.
    2. you either talk to people on your Origin/console friendlist or let the game matchmake you with 3 randoms who you can then talk to. They said there was no global chat (or text chat).
    3. Maybe. Freeplay is limited to public session so the game might put other players (max 3) into your session via matchmaking.
    4. You can solo content that doesn't require a full squad to get into (like Strongholds) because content scale to party size. If you are capable of doing it will probably depends on what difficulty you are playing vs your skills at the game.
    5. No idea.

I wish this made me feel better but the fact they completely left out and didn't even mention the chacater development in a video with this title/focus doesn't fill me with hope.

I'll check it out since I am spending all the money I usually spend on new games from Steam on other platforms in protest to their authoritarian anti-free speach bullshit, and it seems I get it for free for having the Origin membership I just picked up recently.  I just don't have high hopes I'm in their target market or that game values what I do.  But, at least according to you, they do have a character development system so I'll go into it with an open mind and give an honest go of it.

I will say that the marketing machine is in full swing for this title. I guess it has to be though since they basically sacrificed MEA for this and put all their eggs in the Anthem basket. It's sink or swim with this one.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

A game can be garbage but people will still buy into the hype (Fallout 76). These things are like gravity, the more people playing the greater the pull.

I really wish all of you ,,, NO NO NO <<< how dare you want to make MONEY>>>> people would get off of that horse!!

ANY and I mean ANY company that spends money on what ever widget they make HAS TOO make at lest 33% over what they spent just to break even; let alone make any profit to post on their P&L statement, if they don't they will end up closing their doors!! And guess what ,,, NO MORE WIDGETS,,,, i,e, game in this case!

Now on this game,,,, for some reason it does not say play me to me,,, not sure what it is about it, but it just doesn't excite me. I just hope it works out for Bio-ware and EA.

Count me in, definitely more of a filthy casual these days.

Life's too short to spend much time struggling in a game.

Doesn't mean I'm not up for a good challenge,  but I can definitely do without an excess of tedious and time wasting activites during the journey.

I'm worried that this game is going to run like shit. That would probably be the biggest issue I'd have with the game.
