What I'm sort of befuddled by is how it is that you believe Blizzard is saying, "f*ck white guys" simply for asking people to tie Twitch & Battle.Net accounts together? Is cussing and abusive spamming of a Twitch channel the sole domain of caucasian males? O.o

That said, if you really want your voice to be heard, it won't be here. You need to call Blizzard HQ or the Overwatch League offices or Activision-Blizzard headquarters. Or write a letter to the same. Believe me when I tell you that MMORPG.com is far below Blizzard's notice. :D
To my knowledge, Activision wants to police naughty words and emojis. EA employees are the ones on social media saying "F*** White males" and "don't buy our game". You're aware they said those things, yes? It was all over the internet. It's a typical double standard from that group of people.

The video and the article has helped me reach the following conclusions.

    1. The policy will reflect a leftist approved agenda.

    2. This partnership will not end there, other companies will adopt it and punish accounts for wrong think posted on Twitch or other platforms.

    3. The average person that doesn't keep up with "current year" Wrong Think, can't navigate through that minefield. So, how many accounts are studios willing to ban to feel good about themselves?

Look, I don't need anyone's agenda in every aspect of my life. I'd rather not participate or be lectured by anybody once I'm off the clock.

Can I just play games to get away from my problems and yours? Seriously. There's a few feet of snow on the ground and the lakes are frozen. I can't hike, camp, hunt, or fish right now. Can I just play games without being lectured on 1st-World problems?

I promise, if I ever change my mind, I'll move back to a city in an over-populated State and care about those social issues. I just don't want a game studio to decide that for me.

So quit and move on. Why do people insist on telling people they re leaving a game for any reason. Really, who the fuck cares.
For the same reason you made this post. To be heard. It isn't like their opinion is any less valid than yours.
It is a huge mistake to believe all opinions are equally valid.

I assure you  mine are much more informed than most, and therefore more valid.

I think moderation could be better but not like this. I don't like linking my gaming accounts with other services. When I watch Twitch, which is only occasionally, i don't even log in so chat is completely irrelevant to me. However, if I do take the time to log in it's to follow the streamer then log out and keep watching.
I made a Twitch account to get free ESO loot boxes. I put the streamer on mute and minimize the window. That's it.

You say you do but you obviously don't.

You're leaving a game you play not because of anything that game did or didn't do but because the company did something in the real world that rubs you the wrong way... and on the way out the door you want to lecture them.

Sounds to me like you bring your own real world problems into games not the other way around.
I agree. I explained just that in my OP.

This thread is a hair's breadth away from closure. It's been relatively apolitical, though the underpinnings of the entire thing are decidedly skewed in that direction. We'll be monitoring this pretty closely so keep it civil and as far away from deeper political discourse than is currently here.

I don't see the OPs point. Seems as if they are attempting to moderate people's behavior to try and reduce bad behaviors.

If so, I'm all for it, if not, someone please explain the problem.

Video was terrible btw, typical streamer drivel which confirmed why I rarely watch them.

My take away from the video: The guy says 'this is really about control'. Yep, the ability for a privately owned company to control the public image of their product. Where the rest of his rant seems fairly libertarian, he forgot the first rule - it's their game, you don't have a right to dictate its terms.  You have a right to unsub and not give them money. At the end of the day here is the guys real complaint: I don't want to have to pay and I'm upset I can't act like an asshat anymore. This is not about freedom vs. big brother - for God's sakes its video games. This is capitalism working as intended by looking for new sources of revenue and to ensure their public image attracts the widest possible audience. I'm no prude, I don't mind 'salty' jokes; but this is about keeping ecoterrorists and nazi propagandists from ruining the experience that I am paying for just as much as you - and I don't want to hear that b.s. I don't want to hear some adolescent jerry springer-esque iamverybadass chat domination either. You guys are the reason I don't join those chat rooms. And looks like Blizzard ran the numbers and it turns out there are more people not participating because of you than those dominating the participation. They don't want to ingrain this insane culture any further into our games. You've had your free speech. Here is ours back: Shut the hell up, it ain't your game and they aren't the government. Talk about first world problems.

Well, I don't expect you to have read every reply I made to others. But, I stated that I respect their right to do whatever they want. I'm just sharing my thoughts. Is that ok?

You could always use the ignore feature they provide. *shrugs* If I participated in chat, that would be my logical solution.

Let's use what you said as an example. What is an ecoterrorist?

And what thoughts do they have on Twitch, that should result in a ban with Activision? It's a serious question, because people will get banned. Please explain.

Could someone please explain what this thread is about?  Has Blizzard actually banned anyone from WoW for what they said on some other platform completely unrelated to WoW?  The start of the video is some stupid rant about nothing in particular, and I don't want to watch a whole 10 minute video only to find out that it didn't have a point.

I get that there are people out there trying to censor things that they don't like, but what does that have to do with Blizzard?

OP, I'm sure you posted this on the official forums right? Where I'm sure more fk's are given there than here (well probably not, but yea...).

Seriously though, what is the deal with this younger generation of gamers. Within the past decade, people seem to think others care when you stop playing something. All these "why I'm not playing...." threads and even youtube videos, its like get real....So many special snowflakes in a snow storm I guess.

Well then, did Blizzard ban people from Overwatch for what they said on some other, unrelated platform?  This is the sort of thing that needs some details.  I can't tell if the thread is about:

    1) paranoia that Blizzard might do something outrageous that they haven't done yet
    2) outrage that Blizzard actually has done something outrageous, in which case, you'd better give details, or
    3) manufactured outrage about something that Blizzard did that is completely reasonable given the context

I don't want to get into the "problem" itself, that's not a debate for these forums.

But the method they are using to address this "problem" would solve nothing. They are fighting fire with fire and that would only bring in more fire. If severe punishments alone worked for disciplining people or changing behavior/culture then we'd be still beating the crap out of children, and capital punishment would've stopped all the murders and drug trafficking in the world.

I also have a question; can't you just create a BNet account for free with a fake name and link that to Twitch to do all the "hate speech" you'd want under the sun? Doesn't this make this solution just an inconvenience for people who have done nothing wrong and the sinners are going to keep on sinning without a care in the world!? or am I mistaken?

The 18000 south koreans that were recently banned from overwatch, was for various reasons that included being AFK in matches. I don't think this is related to the twitch thing yet, but in the future i can absolutely see that happening. :/

I don't see the issue here. Unless i'm mistaken this is blizzard basically extending their in game COC to their official twitch Esports page. Please correct me if i have this fundamentally wrong.

I'm sure there are some people who are going to be mad that they can no longer shit post and spam twitch chat but screw them, they aren't worth keeping in a community anyway. That said, I don't play any Blizz games and think twitch is highly overrated, I have no interest in watching a bunch of paid shills act like dancing monkeys for the coins thrown at them by their mindless audiences.  YMMV
You don't have it wrong. However, people against this believe that this won't end there.

The genre is dying according to financials.
People are being divided for stupid reasons that has nothing to do with gaming.
We're allowing corporations the power to dictate was is and is not socially acceptable.
Corporations who run games, can dictate what is and is not acceptable in their games. It's their property to do what they would like with.
And just like corps who run games can dictate their worlds, even though I do not agree with his overall premise, I do agree that it is his prerogative to decide who he patronizes and to voice why he does or doesn't.  While I disagree with his core premise of why and I think his lens is clouded, I respect his opinion and his ability to voice it and vote with his dollars. I know I can turn it off but I want these people to be removed. To be honest I want them to be taught to behave. Yeah you read that correctly I want people to behave properly with respect and to think before they type and speak.

I think there are people in this world who are so consumed Obsessed with current politics and social justice issues that they are incapable of not injecting such issues into every facet of their lives . Whether its the video games they play, the articles they write , they television they watch or the shows they create & the people they share space with. Its all become so tiresome and quite sad to TBH. They are quite sad tbh.
