I have been a member here since 2005 and I have seen many changes. But in particular I wanted to mention that the level of civility on these boards, while not perfect, has vastly improved over the years.
There had been a time in the past when you couldn't say "good morning" here without being flamed. That isn't the case anymore. I credit the mods for creating an environment where you can discuss things (usually) without it becoming toxic.
Also I am glad to have posters to hang out with who make interesting observations and keep the site fresh.
Thanks to all.

J/k, the boards are fun, the moderating is good, and the no lifers, ahh, i mean regulars are a blast. Overall, ive been on the boards for over a decade but have done the majority of my posting in the past year.

So its good to hear that someone thinks MMORPG is getting better, I think so to, but hard to judge the extent of that.

But the reason its better here is because a lot of the old posters I saw seem to be banned, that or maybe some quit the forums. The forums aren't very active like they used to be here. So its like a popular MMO that used to have a junk community (age of conan for example) and now because the community killed itself and the community is so small that the community seems a lot better but really its because it isn't as popular as it used to be.
And small communities are usually better than they used to be because they are small and small communities are always "better" than large communities, with the downside that everything becomes an echo chamber and extremism kicks in. Like going to a tiny town some place and the tiny town of 30 people are super religious and then kick you out if you aren't religious or not the same type of religion they are ((and yes these places exist outside of movies).
So in my example above, if someone says they think destiny is an MMO, the echo chamber of oldschool MMO extremism kicks in and they get banned/warned for it.
Personally, I like reddit a lot more. You can go into the destiny forum and say "is this MMO any good?" and none of the mods warn or ban for it and no one cares...because no one cares what MMOs are or used to be or have changed. Because its a big pile of nothingness that people here take to such extremes (hence oldschool MMO extremism) they'll mass harrass any thread/post/user.
But yes, this forum is still better than /r/mmorpg, that subreddit is a cesspool.
I pretty much stopped coming here except occasionally. But I remember even a couple years back that the forums would have new posts/threads almost every page refresh. Even late at night US time the forums were lively. So this forum is kinda dead, dunno how the actual site is for visitors though. But like I said, small populations tend to be a lot friendlier and better than big huge communities.
Like besides my post I made, that one guy that called everything an MMO was banned because he went against the oldschool MMO extremism and was not welcomed here. Like a religious small town of 30 people or whatever, hidden away in the boondocks with a dirt road going in. I'm sure those 30 people are super friendly with each other because they all agree.

Heck, if that was true they'd have to perma ban most of the staff here, being some of the more egregious offenders.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
I'll have to start upping the ante.
Plastic wrap on toilet seats. Approval of Star Citizen. An evil Bill Murphy mask with a big curly mustache. I might even call Fortnite an MMO. You guys can't stop me!
Still never banned. Still don't have a warning flag. Don't have much fodder today since most debate here attacks the subject instead of the person. I do still find the occasional complete lack of reasoning to pick at.
