I remember there were always reports about them being deep in the reds and now they want to expand?
    I don't understand what's going on.

If they have money to spend I would have prefered it if they gave us a real expansion for Secret World Legends and not this 1 hour storyline with a cheap tiny zone to play in.

Funcom usually has great ideas that are poorly implemented.

I think they did well with the latest Conan game.

Sovrath nailed it. Conan Exiles has been a gold mine for them.

So yeah, them being in the red is OLD news by now.

I'm happy to see them doing so well. They're one of the few MMO companies that isn't afraid to try new things. Doesn't always work out for them, but at least they try. And I generally enjoy their games at least for a while.

So much so that like many other development houses they are now focusing their resources on less expensive games which are likely to sell well rather than large scale MMOs.

I don't think that's ever going to happen.

Besides, if "re-do it properly" means "Go back more to how it used to be", they're not going to revert to something that failed for them.

I guess good for them. I think they SHOULD make single player games. The idea of an open world Conan game similar to an elder scrolls game (similar mind you) would be amazing. It would sell very well and not be so much of a risk like an mmo.

I wouldn't call secret world legends a success with though....

Funcom did well with Conan Exiles. So it is good they are expanding in my opinion.

In other news, my PoE character died as usual, so I reinstalled Conan Exiles :).

They excessively monetize their MMOs which I think holds them back. SWL is a great game essentially ruined by horrible monetization. They just can't get that right.

Conan Exiles is monetized a lot less heavily and is a more popular format. It seems logical they would ditch cost heavy MMOs for cheaper more accessible games.

Monetization wasn't the problem. Gameplay/skill selection is so little few, it gets bored after a while. I couldn't do Tokyo because of it and i was subscribed for three months.
