Are we still doing General Gaming here?
I get your point.  But if you wanna look for who to blame for politics in your gaming site, I'd be asking the folks who conjure up these shitstorm based on misinformation in the first place.  That's who injected the gender politics into a 5 year old Total War title to the point CA actually had to release a counter-statement.
No offense mate, you know I how much I respect ya <3 but right now I am blaming you for dragging it in here. Because in my humble opinion, this ain't the place for it.

If the site's wants to discuss politics, they should add a forum for it and moderate every post from other unrelated forums. If this continues, I'd just stop visiting here--the very last gaming forums that I like.
No offense from me either, but it's an issue within gaming that's been featured multiple times on this site.  No one forces a user to read the thread, and the title is very clear about what the reviewer claimed and the end result.
I'm not saying the issue doesn't exist.

Either remove this rule and let's go free-for-all, or create a new forum for politics, or respect the rules.

"No one forces a user to read the thread" This statement is just so wrong. So it is fine if I create a racist post and whenever somebody objected then I would just make the same excuse?
Racism hasn't been an issue featured multiple times by the site staff.  Specifically not promoting racism.

This is just some liberal #metoo garbage. There are no Female Generals, and they can't rewrite history to accommodate people. Take your political socialist agenda and shove it where the sun does not shine...
This is the an example of the retardation of the World.
    • Retard didn't read article
    • Retard spews ideological tribal foolery
    • Retard pulls pendulum to extremity
    • Retard bemoans the pendulum hitting the opposite extremity

Stop being idiots and realize YOU ALL have more to lose (civilization wise) than anybody else, and the only way to survive is by not being a retard on an extremity.

P.S. I mean "retard" in the dictionary term, not as a slight to mentally dis... f#$% that I mean it how you take it.
Your whole post is retarded. Go see a psychiatrist and get on some medication. People have different opinions deal with that. Look at what your wrote. You are a perfect example of a liberal hack.
    1. Can't refute any claims
    2. Won't substantiate or expound on any inflammatory statements
    3. Tribalism
At least I had the decency to point out exactly what you did (and am doing it again).

You're an idiot on an extremity. I don't know if it's permanent. That's on you. You can still join the reasonable folks in the center to discuss with some logic and parameters. That goes for any of your ilk.

This is twice now you've posted here clearly showing you haven't read a damn thing, either in the OP or in the replies.  GG.
I read everything and it makes me sick. This crap doesn't belong in the forums. I can't stand overly sensitive wise asses like you.
Then do tell why you decided to post completely erroneous bullshit on the thread twice?

Or just keep throwing tantrums and be ignored.  It makes no difference to me.
Everyone is tired of your opinions. Do us all a favor and quit injecting political nonsense in the forums. You look like a fool right now to everyone.
Boo fucking hoo.  Take your butthurt elsewhere.
Frenchie furthermore you assume my posts are directed at you. My original 2 posts had nothing to do with your opinions. I was directing my post to other people. For some reason you think everyone is talking to you. Get over yourself.
No, I don't give a shit whether or not you were talking to me, your posts were still erroneous bullshit indicating you had little to no idea what the reality of the situation was.

If you wanna shoot a message to a specific person and receive only a response from that person, here's a tip: PM them.
You must have some issues in life because you projecting your hatred at people. Do me a favor stop quoting me. You are like a little kid that wants attention. You think your observations are so witty and precise, but actually you are the one who is spewing erroneous bullshit. Get over yourself because you are wearing the dunce cap and we didn't let you out of the Dunces Corner yet.

So Total War Rome 2 is getting review bombed on Steam due to female generals being a feature.  The most popular negative review cited that half his Roman generals are now female, and the normal bitching you've come to expect in this day and age has started.

Interestingly enough, that review is completely false and straight up lies about the game to try and push its narrative of (and I cannot make this up) bitching about Creative Assembly pushing a narrative.  Here's the quote from an article regarding the data mined chance to get female generals:

"YouTuber RepublicOfPlay posted a video of his findings, pointing out that only certain cultures—Romans not among them—can even have women generals, and there’s a 65 per cent chance characters will be born male, and only a 35 per cent chance they’ll be female."

So man bitches about half his Roman generals being female in an attempt to push a narrative, datamining determines he's fabricating the essence of his claim in criticizing the game.  This is reality, and it's fucking pathetic.

    EDIT- The review I mentioned:

"Why are suddenly half my ROMAN (known for being a predominantly patriarchal society) generals women? You know I wouldn't have a problem with that if I could disable and enable this "content" patch at will. But you just really want to forcefeed historical revisionism to your customers. Very disrespectful and generally not a good business practice (look what happened to EA).
Not to mention that this game is still buggy and badly optimized after all these years. It seems that CA has stopped caring about making actually good games like Medieval 2 and Shogun, and now are only looking to pander to an audience that THEY ARE NEVER GOING TO ATTAIN BECAUSE THAT AUDIENCE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT HISTORICAL STRATEGY GAMES.
All this pandering comes at the cost of the established, core audience. Not to mention the whole Red Shell incident. So yeah, don't buy this game, or any CA games for that matter, until CA gets its act together and starts respecting its customers."

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/214950/Total_War_ROME_II__Emperor_Edition/

To recap: The Roman faction in the game does not allow female generals.  At all.

EDIT2- PCGamer updated with statement from CA:

    "
Creative Assembly has released a statement clarifying that spawn rates for female generals have not been changed, and the system is basically working as intended. "There have been no changes to recruitable female general spawn rates. But with the addition of the family tree feature and the new gameplay options it brings, playable factions may gain more female family members via marriage."

Spawn rates do differ by faction, however. They have a ten to 15 percent chance of spawning for most factions, bar "the Greek states, Rome, Carthage and some eastern factions, which have a 0% chance." Kush has a 50 percent chance. "This is to broadly represent the cultural differences in those factions during the time the game is set.""

Completely made up outrage over a conspiracy theory-lie.  Wonder where those folks are taking their cues from?
One thing you should always consider in this day and age are the possible ulterior motives behind this posters actions. Never take them at face value. Its quite likely this person is just stirring up shit for the luls to set both factions chasing their tails and cause chaos.

True enough.  It has even taken hold here, with posters assuming the claim made by the reviewer is true in spite of my OP explicitly including CA's statement and independent data-mining showing it was false.

    Twilight Zone level shit.

EDIT- hell, it was clear by the title the reviewer was wrong.  Fucking mind-blowing.
matters little at this point if the review is true or not, if it was a bug or not and it happened to him, or if it did have a ulterior motive,

its was enough to make a news outlet make a article about it, and someone was buthurt enough about the review to make a post here and not on steam.

What the fuck is your problem with a gamer sharing a news article about gaming on a forum dedicated to gaming?

Specifically regarding an issue that's been part of multiple features posted by the site itself.

If you're that distraught over my sharing the story, back button's top left, slick.

Without it, I wouldn't be able to make heads or tails of Torval's opinion of microtransactions being removed in Belgium from GW2, for instance.  Or, at least, I wouldn't have the additional context for his posts that I do have from interacting with him or reading his posts in the past.

This is the reason Suzie generally avoids posting 'news' stories like this on this site. They tend to bring out the worst in people. Best to just let it go and move on to other conversations about...well....mmorpgs I guess. Leave these topics to say a Kotaku or IGN
Suzie has been in this thread repeatedly.  At the time, of course, it hadn't devolved from folks shitposting without even reading the OP.

Problem is you have no idea what my political alignment is, what are my thoughts about such issues, what kind of person I am, what sort of problems I see in the world and what kind of hardships I have to endure and so on but you already see me as an enemy because I believe it is better to keep a gaming forum clear from politics on a site which has clearly made it as a rule.

But it always does. Which is why threads like this always turn into this kind of thread regardless of their intension. You can't post political articles on an online forum and then wonder why they turn into a crap posting thread. They always will.
Since this thread is spiraling into locked realm any way, lets examine some things vigorously before it happens.

When threads get out of hand, what is the typical style of $#!% post that precedes the lock?

If you all are concerned with the direction of the thread, you can petition @mikeb to see if he thinks it needs closure. He's the man with the tape, nails, soldering iron, Yale lock, deadbolt and all that good stuff.

    From MMORPG.com User Agreement: https://www.mmorpg.com/disclaimers.cfm#conduct

    "Religion and Politics
MMORPG.com is a site to discuss massively multiplayer online roleplay gaming. While users are encouraged and permitted to use our Off-Topic forum to discuss real life and non-MMORPG gaming, threads concerning sensitive subjects such as religion, politics, or ethics are forbidden."

Please don't dodge the issue. I am not here to advocate racism. That was an example of how your statement "no one forces a user to read the thread" is not valid. When there are rules you can't break them then ask others to ignore you.

And I am addressing this part to the site's management, not you. Is this rule still valid or not? It's simple as that.
What rules are broken? The guy brought up a topic in gaming. Is this issue not about Rome Total War 2? Is that not a game? Has this exact thing not happened with other games?

I'm confused on why dudes are attacking him for bringing up a issue in gaming? He pointed it out, raised awareness to it. All the other stuff came from people agreeing or disagreeing with the take.

Furthermore why does it bother you so much? What's the issue? Is your life going to change now because he posted that stuff? Did you lose money or something? Either you want to be part of the conversation or you dont. If you dont keep it moving, no sleep lost.
I have listed the rule which was broken. I am not here to enforce it, I am merely observing. This is what happens when you post something online, other people might state their opinions.

Comments on his posts are less about gaming and more about politics.

I have already stated why it does bother me, on this post and other similar ones. Why does it bother you that I have an opinion? Why do you think you need to shut me up? Are you losing money or sleep?

Problem is you have no idea what my political alignment is, what are my thoughts about such issues, what kind of person I am, what sort of problems I see in the world and what kind of hardships I have to endure and so on but you already see me as an enemy because I believe it is better to keep a gaming forum clear from politics on a site which has clearly made it as a rule.

If you still can't see the problem here then I cannot help you. Because unlike you, I don't care to correct every individual on the net.
Where did I say you were an enemy? I said either you want to be part of the conversation or you don't. I asked how it affects you in real life, a random person posting something in a thread. I never once said you were a enemy. I asked several questions. I never accused you of anything. I can accuse you now of lack of reading comprehension because clearly you missed something if you think I accused you of anything.

Edit: please don't continue to be passive aggressive by using my words. There are other ways to be passive aggressive. Originality counts!

    See.

The problem is this. No more happy discussions anywhere even when politics are excluded because "they" are burning civilization around us.

Then again I get your point. I don't visit many gaming sites, Steam, or even here as much anymore. The level of anarchy is crazy. Ignorance is bliss, but the box has been opened.
I was about to post something similar.  Politics have been brought into these realms, and it sure as heck wasn't brought here by forum goers sharing news articles on the issue (the very fact of a post sharing articles dictates as much).

You can ignore it, but doing so (at least here in America today) is more akin to trying to play the role of Bubble Boy than it is merely avoiding a sensitive topic.
