Why no triple A subscription based MMO coming out? Read now. You won't believe what I find out!

I know there are indie MMOs coming out. But all of them are either buy to play or free to play with cash shops or...they are indie titles.

Are there any actual MMOs in development that are triple A titles that include a forced subscription?

The problem I have with cash shops is I have a bad habit of seeing a shiny and wanting to buy it. This is true for GW2 and BDO.

Sure that benefits the company, but is bad for a gambling addict like I am.

The last big subscription title is FFXIV. Every other ones are optional subs but heavily cash shopped.

Currently I play WoW...but surely there has to be other big companies still wanting to make sub based MMOs and don't want to take advantage of gambling addicts?

Or is WoW/FFXIV the last big subscription based MMOs?

    It's kinda hard to get people to spend a sub for the "joy of accessing the game" when they can get other games for free.

    Well, that is why trials and stuff. Plus most people that complain about subscriptions go on to pay 100s or 1000s of dollars on cash shops every month.

    its like someone who will drive 20 extra miles to pay for cheaper gas, but actually its more expensive because you just paid more to get to that gas station.

    And people still pay for subs...FFXIV is doing really well, and WoW is still top #1 MMO.

    FFXIV was free when I played it (which wasnt long)...I wouldnt pay $1 a month for that game.

    Guess so. And people think they are free. Its like going farther to get cheap gas, but you pay more for that gas you just used to drive to a cheaper gas station than one close by.

    There are people that will drive far farther than they should, just to get cheaper gas. But they are actually paying more for it.

    Devs got to witness cheaply made games making the same or better profits than the robust more riskier games,so why aim for the risk when you can make 10 flops and still only need one to succeed.

    A AAA title could be anywhere from 100-300 mil,a cheap flop might cost a mil tops.

    Even someone like Rockstar who has a lot of money would just copy/utilize what they already have going for an engine,so the game would just be a basic GTA type game but have a login screen to utilize a long term cash shop.

    Also we have seen some devs tel us straight up that their publisher and investors want loot boxes/cash shops because they want to maximize their profits.

    So what the chances we run into a NON greedy developer with the know how to build an amazing robust AAA mmorpg....not very likely.IMO Square Enix is the last of it's kind but i see the changes coming,they have released a lot of garbage of late and have been releasing some half assed ,less effort content in their present day games.Blizzard the other giant is to me lol,they could't build a really good mmorpg if they wanted to.
