Dauntless News - The Dauntless site has been updated with a new blog post that reveals the "shifting chaos" of the playable locations that come and go over time. At any given moment, there are three islands visible and playable on the map. One, Dyadic Drift, is a permanent resident and remains in place. The other two are "rotating islands" that are available for a specific period of time before leaving the rotation until an indistinct point in the future.

Never forget that this game has had no real content in 6 months [when they added Rezakiri and Shrowd] and will only add 1 behemoth and 1 new weapon in 2 months.

Unfortunately, it seems that the game won't make it out of beta state before PC release of Monster Hunter. They couldn't even balance behemoths and weapons yet, let alone make the game enjoyable. A player disconnected and another one uses spear? "Enjoy" 25minutes long fight or a wipe cuz spear deal 25% less DPS and mobs' hp does not scale to people leaving - so you have to carry whole group.

    Thank you for your time!

This is my concern. They need to hit the ground running if they are to survive the short term and provide viable long term competition to MH.

But they haven't hit the ground running. Their first content update is coming a whopping 10 weeks after the start of the open beta, and consists of far too little to be worth the wait, unless "1 weapon and 1 behemoth" is only the surface level addition with an unexpected new mode to break up the pace.

It doesn't help that their regular patches have been embarassingly sparse. This game still has major problem bugs. Hitboxes in this game are a complete joke, especially with the Rezakiri's body parts. Dodges still feel broken, with invincibility frames being too few and poorly placed. These are major issues that need to be fixed or at least acknowledged in the first few months.

Boring. Bad combat. Bad movement. Content lacking. 1 zone for 1 mob = LOL!

I actually made a reddit post listing off my issues with the game and actually got a response from someone who works there. Of course it was a pretty broad and basic one, but it's good to see they at least seem to be listening. Unfortunately people here are right, its still very buggy, terribly optimized, lacks content, not well balanced in multiple aspects, has a pointless momentum movement system, locks 2/5 weapons at the start, full of reskins (especially the maps you fight on...its embarrassing how little effort went into them, they all look the same but with weather skins) among other things. There is potential here, but it's got SOO much work to do, this should still be in alpha or early beta at most, not open.

This game will suffer badly when people spend a while away from it for MHW with them having to hope people will come back looking for more like it and not either get burned out or quite quickly when they realize how much better they had it with MH.
