Sir, I don't come here to read about your political views, or issues over race. I come here to read about and discuss games. If I wanted to read a convo like this I would read my twitter feed.
If you actually bothered to read anything, you would know that what you said made no sense. Awesome concern trolling though.

Do you think educational institutions are indoctrination camps?

I mean, I encountered all sorts of opinions I didn't agree with in high school especially but thankfully I had learned critical thinking and when I got to college and beyond I picked up some useful skills like calculus and how to read a balance sheet.  It also sparked a lifelong passion (thus far) for geophysical science which I never knew I had.

I don't need to live in a bubble. I'm not afraid to examine and reject ridiculous ideas and repulsive opinions. They can't harm me in nearly the same way as my own complacency has the potential to.
The only people scared of having their members subjected to outside thought or different, challenging ideas are cultists.  Cultists are also told to hate outside ideas for them being "evil," because it helps members reject non-cult approved ideas because their hate of it is good because they possess the righteous truth.  Cultists are indoctrinated - that is what makes cults different from normal people and free-thinkers and fair minded people who value freedom and diversity of speech, thought, and ideology.  It is documented fact that colleges (students and administrators) engage in shutting down of free speech by shouting down or engaging in violence against non-cult speakers or presenters.   Hateful, small minded, cult activity in the guise of "tolerance" and "goodness."

Is this all college kids?  No.  Certainly not.  I doubt it is anywhere close to a majority.  But it is common, accepted and expected and that, in itself, is very scary.  The place and people that should be the most open-minded and open to free thinking and debate shouldn't be taught to be close minded sycophants.

The free-market place of ideas only works when ideas can be freely presented and debated.  Stalin said something along the lines of "Ideas are more powerful than guns.  We don't let the people have guns; why should we allow them to have ideas?"
You're going to have to support that assertion with a citation or two. If it is a documented fact then where has it been documented? Some links to your sources or references including author and publication date will do.

We agree on what a cult is, but thankfully my college experience has been the complete opposite of this.
Mine too.  As a Poli Sci major, my primary professor didn't indicate support for any particular party or ideology- he set up the issue, asked us to debate it, and interjected to play "Devil's advocate" whenever the whole class seemed to fall on the same side of the issue.  He did it to spur on debate, offer contextual information such as related Supreme Court rulings we were failing to address, and encourage critical thinking about the subject.  Dr. Baxter was awesome like that.

Well I literally laughed out loud. It's all a little funny now isn't it. We've gone over everything neither one of us deciding to agree to disagree, and in many cases, it still seems you fail to even see my point of view.  Not that you haven't had the chance, you just contort whats been said by making baseless analogies.    Not to mention the irony of the situation, as I've explained it several times now.

I think after frenchie and I spent a substantial amount of time getting many of the subject points we mentioned completely skirted or misrepresented, it makes it a lot easier to disassociate from taking this as a serious conversation at this point.
You spent your entire time trying to convince me to look under my bed for NAZIs and blame Valve for it.

Fearmongering, backed by nothing outside of your liberal circle-jerk.

Although i do agree with you regarding why i visit this website He is far from the only one talking politics in this thread, To call him out alone is douchey.

TBH alot of threads seem to be popping up on this site lately that incite political arguments its a shame. When did political activists start posing as journalists ?

Lmao, no offense taken, Poli Sci isn't exactly tailored to a particular career path like, say, an Information Systems type degree (which is actually one of the reasons I'm working toward an additional degree in Database Administration with a minor in Web Applications).

It was, however, the most interesting major (to me) out of the 5-6 I tried in college.  It fit my personality.  I'm a big-issue kind of philosopher, one that constantly seeks more effective and efficient ways to meet society's problems (that's not a compliment to myself, just an observation, as I'm not, like, a policy advisor to a Congressman or anything).

The other side of my personality can best be summed up in one word: abrasive.  I think you've likely noticed both sides of that personality if you've been reading my posts on this thread.

Steam has been a lousy curator of their own store since Greenlight.
It got significantly worse with Steam Direct.
This latest rejection of any and all responsibility towards their customers has taken Steam well down the road from a store filled with trash to becoming a toxic landfill.

It's absolutely crazy to me how mad so many people are over this.  Like don't buy games you don't think are appropriate and STFU.  If you can't manage that then stop using Steam, go to amazon and get a self-help book on self control.  Plus there are a billion other platforms to get games outside of major publishers.  Some of ya'll need to just breathe.

I would say that Valve made the only sensible and pro-gamer choice they could have made. Anything else would mean censorship based on arbitrary political or religious ideologies in a medium that is all about escapism.

I think the most hilarious part is the people claiming it's "not about censorship" seem to have missed the reason this conversation even started. People wanted a game banned because of its dodgy subject matter (school shootings). It is EXACTLY about censorship, and as we have seen in the past, the precedent is set with things we all agree are distasteful, and then makes its way to "offensive or dangerous to those in charge of the mob".

As it has been said a billion times before, freedom of speech is not enshrined to protect popular opinions. Its strength is gauged by how well it protects unpopular ideas.  If you find yourself saying the words "I believe in free speech, BUT....", you don't.

Businesses doing self-censorship has nothing to do with free speech.

You keep telling yourself that. I'm SURE your opinion will NEVER be the one they want to silence....

Odd how these arbitrary rules about the sudden limits to freedom of speech and expression end when a baker doesn't want to make a cake or, for a more contemporary example, some comedian makes a garbage joke on Twitter. Then, it's "Think and say what we want or be ruined".

I suggest you look at the news and see what happens in countries where you aren't allowed free speech and you would understand what freedom of speech entails.  Freedom of speech never has and never will be protection for acting like an idiot though.

That "dispassion" is implicit consent. Don't take Jim Sterling's word for it, take Plato's. That's the dictionary definition of cop out.
Why are we always presented with only two choices? Think about it. Strange, no?
WTF are you going on about now? There are many more choices than two. Make some sense.
That "dispassion" is implicit consent. Where's the other choice?
When you sit on toilet to shit you either shit or you don't shit. You want a 3rd choice for that?

Valve is the store front that sells these games. They're the ones responsible for anything they allow to be sold in their store. If they allow a broken game or outright scam asset flip that is not illegal they can't claim that it's not their fault because it actually is their fucking fault that they allowed that to be sold there even if was just by being lazy and moronically oblivious to it.

Well..... you can go pee. That's the third choice ;)
