According to Reddit, a former Daybreak Game Company employee has dished a bunch of inside information about what was...or is...in development at the troubled studio. According to the now-deleted (but reposted) rumor, EverQuest 3 and PlanetSide 3 are said to be in development.

    Well, consolidating all of the teams into three main projects with skeleton crews on the ones that will ultimately sunset in the near future seems plausible. I guess we'll see but I ain't holdin' my breath. :D

    Ehh, Everquest 3 battle royale?  wtf?  I checked the date 3 times to be sure this wasn't April 1. 

    But sure if they can make a modern "classic" mmo using EQ's assets, then go for it.  I would check it out.

    Awesome! So they will kill off those old and sad EQ games, or better, put them in maintenance mode to slowly rot away, and they will infuse the new EQ with lots of battle royale gameplay. This must be EXACTLY the news all EQ fans have been waiting for.....

    Daybreak making terrible choices and being a crap-tier company? How did I not see this coming?! Oh, wait. Never mind. I remember that time they bank rolled some of their funding off of lies and had people purchase Landmark for a game that would ultimately never come out. Then went ahead and killed Landmark too. Good riddance if Daybreak goes away.

    How does a EQ3 PvP Battle Royal focused game can be prepped to compete with Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen? Have I missed something about Pantheon PvE focused design being drastically altered recently?

    That bit of information doesn't even seem to make good sense in the environment.

    It's focusing on battle royale elements to compete with Pantheon? Pantheon has zero BR elements, that's about as far from Pantheon as you can get.

    What even... I don't know if I believe that former employee. Maybe they were disgruntled so they gave out fake info to make them look worse.

    Planetside being a BR game? That wouldn't work at all. Planetside has always been about territorial control, unless somehow they made each sub zone 100v100 and your side winning kept the zone. But I just feel like a BR game can't be added into every single game mode. At least when MOBAs got hot they didn't make one out of every IP ever.

    EQ having an emphasis on BR? What the hell? Are they mixing up RvR with a BR? Even then, when has EQ ever had a focus on PvP? Sure there have been PvP servers but in general most of my experience with EQ has been PVE. I don't actually know anyone who played it for the PvP.

    This has to be a joke or some way to smear a company they got fired from.

    Totally agree with all the BR nonsense this "rumored" development dish seems to indicate. The only way they could conceivably do it in an MMO like EQ3 would be to somehow tailor aspects of battle royale into GvG or multi-faction territory control with "disputed lands". Maybe? 

    Either way, seems to lack credibility....though who'd have figured 2 years ago that BR would have ever taken off as it has? :D Someone's got to iterate on battle royale so...maybe? :D

    I can see the magical Elven bus now, with a mage holding reins on the top casting slow fall on every player as they bail out the back. :D

    Then they can't call it EverQuest 3. People will expect a new RPG MMO then, not a Battle Royale game.

    Call it "Battle for Norrath" or "Norrath: Battle Royale" or something....hell "EverQuest: Battle Royale".

    Anything but EverQuest 3.

Sort of like Cyrodiil in Elder Scrolls Online but "battle royale".

    That doesn't eliminate the idea that a full blown MMORPG is also part of that mix.

    Though, if this is true it just feels like jumping on the bandwagon and not in time because "Battle Royale" is so "now" and not a few years from now when an mmorpg could even be released.

    I agree with JeroKane. If you are going to call something a part 3 then it needs to follow the other games as an RPG. I know all of this is just hot air because daybreak is most likely going to disappear in a couple months from now which will kill off a lot of major IP's unless they are sold. A battle royal is in no way shape or form an RPG, it is a pvp centered lobby game at best.

    I agree with JeroKane. If you are going to call something a part 3 then it needs to follow the other games as an RPG.     Yeah but this is neither here nor there simply because the IP belongs to someone else.

    If they want to create an rpg and incorporate a themed tetris type game as part of it, they will.

    Just becuase players think it should be x, y and z doesn't mean it will be.

    Like all the Elder Scrolls players who say Elder Scrolls online isn't an Elder Scrolls game. Well, it is whether people like it or not.

    Well unless DCUO was impacted by the layoffs they still put out regular content with a "Death of Superman" event coming:

    Yeah, it is kind of weird seeing the DCUO article just below this one, seeing "Plenty of New Content" etc and then see the rest of their games pretty much sunsetting.
