I hope this signals the advent of raising the entry bar for players. I think that is risky for developers wanting mass appeal, but I also think it's best for the industry and players overall. The problem is I don't have a lot of confidence pvp players can or will keep a game afloat, but that is a systemic issue and not a problem with Bless alone.

Mandatory pvp and the pve pill system. It's great that they're actually listening and trying to accomodate fans interested in the game. I don't think that system is going to work well or be a long term solution.

I'm a pve player. Say I buy the game, the only outlook I see for the future is an endless money hole of pve pills. That's not an attractive feature than inspires me to purchase the game. It's also clunky to manage in the long run. It's a pvp game and they should stand on that or make adjustments. It's futile for them to hope pve players will become enlightened and want to pvp. The same way it's not realistic for players to expect the game to eventually change and become pve while still retaining its core design.

Neowiz still has a mass appeal mindset but their game and revenue system work for more niche games.
The game does have raids and dungeons so that "should" work for pve players. As long as they continue to add that content I don't necessarily see a problem.
Because without the pill you're flagged. Up until you hit level cap it's just an in game gold sink. After that it becomes a constant trip to the cash shop for them. I'm a pve player and jumping through those hoops to play my mmo how I like is a problem. I doubt I'm alone in that.

What I wouldn't ask them to do is change their game. I do think they should hear that while I think their idea is thinking in the right direction, it won't likely work for this pve player.

So having dungeons and raid instances aren't a pve selling point to me. That's not pve mmo gameplay for me. To me those are like the reductive and somewhat perverted distillation of mmo pve gameplay in a tiny little instanced package. For me that is akin to trying fine art with 4 colors and a paint-by-numbers canvas. It might be fun for a one off experience but it's not where I'd want to spend my creative energies.

I'm not the mainstream mmo gamer type either. I'm the kind that creates characters and personas that inhabit virtual worlds, not the person who makes toons to grind dailes. Maybe for them this will work great. For my type of antiquated dinosaur it probably won't.
I think players like you are actually the majority, or close to it. I'm in that boat as well.

I don't mind the B2P as it will give them funds to work with out pushing everyone into the cash shop,,, But the one thing I really do not like is the idea that at end game if you do not want to PVP you have to buy a pill from the CASH SHOP.. I don't mind to have to buy it from a in game shop but the cash shop!!!! That's a bit to far, but then again we have no idea how much and such but still... I don't like that it's almost a deal breaker for me, because I don't PVP!!

Once again I'd wait and see what they actually cost before overreacting.  They've said cash shop currency can still be earned in game, for buying them at end game.

I hope they are not tradeable though, or they become another means to trade real cash for in game currency that can concievably buy in game gear.  That is the definition of p2w.

They say they really want to avoid pay to win, and that better mean that no cash shop item of any value is tradeable or they are lying through their teeth.  I am not holding my breath on this one, developers seem to have a hard time making the simple connection between tradeable cash shop items and P2W, or they know exactly what they are doing.

When already in the presentation they will have so many consumables and boosts then you know the game will be P2W . Imagine how many extra things they will add after. They make him B2P with normal P2W shop.

Tab target, with less flashy animations than BDO.  Still a bit too flashy, but much more tolerable.

idk, i got burned by BTP game before, which was BDO in my case, it still ended up being PTW after a while when they added cosmetic item with stats on them, and for insane prices at that

Thanks for the buy to play model, If i were free to play i would not touch it.

It appears to be bdo all over again- meaning it's a f2p cash shop game that monetizes inconvenience, And you get to pay an entrance fee. Enjoy.

When I was checking in Bless Online I always felt the game is a BDO wannabe, and even the cash store question hits the very same drama, the only thing that saves Bless from BDO is more care for PvE I'd say, the rest is not that attractive I still prefer BDO combat it's quite something requiring you to master it.

What a weird way to do what is essentially a run of the mill PVP flagging system.

It's not weird at all because it isn't a pvp flagging system.

A pvp flagging system means you can be one or the other. They don't want this as they aren't interested in a pve game.

They want players to eventually move to pvp. And for those who never want this they will then make money off them.

But 10 minutes? This is not worth it. It means that every 10 minutes you need to stop and activate another peace dove item. That's very disruptive to play. Even if it doesn't cost that much.

It's almost like they want their game to fail hard with mainstream MMO players. Even BDO isn't that annoying.

Hardly... Wow PVP servers are very popular, always have been, and they don't offer this easy out. You don't lose anything when you die for crap sake.

You all are all thinking the worst case scenario for the no-pvp pots also. It's a faction based game. In all likelyhood you wont have to pop one every 10 minutes. If it was me I'd play without until I see a red (or whatever) enemy faction player, then keep an eye out. I'd bet that you'd have plenty of time to activate the pot after you are actually attacked. Treat it like a very strong protection potion or heal pot. I'm sure there are plenty of areas that will be controlled by your faction.

Nobody has all the info here either. The pots could be very cheap, who knows? I can't see them being made very expensive. If you can earn them with in game actions after level cap I'd think that it's very likely a simple thing to keep yourself in pots with a little thought into where you hunt and how much time you spend in pvp hotspots.

Besides that yall just need to quit being pansies and buck up a little. Your shinies in game cant get scratched.
That's cool and I'm happy you think you are so informed. WoW also offers PvE servers; and lets compare numbers on those PvP servers to those on PvE servers. All I'm saying is that there should be a better option for those who are gonna want to opt out or we are gonna have a repeat of BDO till they fix it like they eventually did in BDO.

Yeah, I'll probably hold off and wait for reviews and the eventual Mystic release. No rush to buy it now since the healer class isn't going to be in until later.

Once again why force PVP on those who dont want it? So many of us just want a great PVE game and we get PVP after PVP.

Once again, they aren't forcing pvp on those who don't want it. They created a pvp game for those people who want a pvp game.

This a 1000 times. Essentially, they are allowing a PvE experience for the sole purpose of convincing PvE players to play PvP. It is not a PvE game.

This is fine. I just wish developers of PvP games would simply say so, instead of pretending that there's a future in the game for PvE players. Gets to the point where you have to read between the lines and realize that the words "sandbox", "open world" and "challenging" have all been co-opted to be code for OW FFA PvP.

B2P. I will just wait for Crowfall

So you are going to wait for a game that has almost nothing in common with Bless. That is such a cool story, tell another !?

Bless is persistant // Crowfall is not

Bless is an open World full fledge mmorpg // Crowfall is not

Bless has a rich art style // Crowfall does not

Bless is an mmo // Crowfall is not

I really didn't want to reply to the comment quoted but it was so delusional a caveman could do it.

What do you mean Bless is persistant // Crowfall is not?
"Rich art style" is an opinion
How is Crowfall not an MMO?

There was nothing delusional about his post. YOURS on the other hand...
Glad somebody noticed. It seems most people don't have a clue about what Crowfall really is. Which is really amazing since it has NO NDA so everything is out there.

As long as the entry price is not ridiculous, I'll be picking this one up. I'm not the biggest fan of 24/7 PvP, but I do like PvP in smaller doses. I'll probably alternate pill and no pill all of the way to the cap. As long as the the cost of the 'level cap pill' does not exceed $15 a month in accordance with how I play the game, then I will be fine with that. Since that is the cost of most subs, I think that is a fair price to pay.

They oughtta consider an ESO system, where the sub costs you the same as just buying the same amount of cash shop currency as you get via subbing, but gives you some desirable perks. Access to the Wyvern and Flying Dragon area included? Making the PvP/ PvE thing a switch with a one hour timer? This type of system drives up your average income over just depending on a cash shop that is not P2W.

The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!

I'm not sure why your all arguing about pvp vs pve, its obvious the endgame is pvp, if you can't handle that simply find another game to play.
Instead of going into the game expecting pve experience all the way, thats just setting yourself up for dissapointment the first time you get killed but weren't expecting it to happen

Remember that steam offers refunds for under 2 hours played time.

Yeah it's a good get out clause, but I'm really looking forward to it. The JPN version was decent enough to get me interested so I doubt i'll be refunding. A player can't judge the game on the basis of just 2 hours anyway.

    no

Combat is the least of Bless problems.

The game could be really amazing if they had money, more devs and a couple of more years of work.
Dude, can I take your crystal ball out on the town, I want to play the lottery.

    1. you don't know what the fuck Bless is so stop pretending you do
    2. The game had poor reviews in Korea, BRO, IT'S KOREA
    3. Almost everything bad in Korea has had much better success in the broader market even Archage
4.The game was redesigned specifically for the broader market.
    5. Let me say it on more time real slow

Not much. According to them the "biggest new features players will find is localization, including a full voice over for English and a new combat system."

But, like someone already said, the combat was always the least of Bless' problems.

Well I think that a possibility is, if the game is really good, people are going to cluster in servers dominated by one of the factions.

This happens to WoW. The servers with more pve progression are pvp servers ridiculously dominated by one faction.
  • MardukkMardukk Member RarePosts: 2,222
I suppose if the game is really good I could suck it up and let myself be killed occasionally in PvP.  It's not like you are going lose much if killed.  I'm skeptical that this game is gonna have enough things for sheep to do other than pvp.  The ten minute pvp free idea is pretty stupid.  I just hope they don't follow bdo as far as gearing up and time to be mildly viable in PvP.  I don't I could be geared for PvP in that game...ever.
