I was going to try Rift but then i changed my mind after i was searching info about the game.
I wanted to play cleric but apparently they aren't the best healers in game at the moment which seems strange since they're clerics and apparently the class hasn't had any changes for nearly a year.
I don't know how the classes work but seems like every class can do different roles, I read some where that Rogues are good at healing at the moment. lol
I was also put off with every time i was looking for a build people kept talking about macros like you needed to use them to play a class to it's full potential and i won't use them just because it's associated with botting.
The other thing was because i hadn't played the game before and it seems they have this yearly plan, I just thought they would be adding new content to quickly for someone who hadn't played the game before.
I am pretty sure cleric is the most powerful healer at this stage of the game on the Prime server. In fact, if Prime is anything like vanilla in terms of balance, Clerics will be very overpowered. Rogues won't have access to the healing soul until someone can save up the planerite to unlock it, same for warriors.
Also the macro thing is not like in other games, it is actually built into the Rift ui (its really cool).
I will have the rogue physician soonish!
Got a "cute" dragon whelp from todays daily reward:
I think this is super cool. I think these kinds of servers are the future of MMOs, after they have proven their worth by staying around for a few years/expansions.
I can make 10 slots bag, if you send mats I can make it for you!
You are way ahead of the rest of us it seems, but shoot me a friend invite to my Warlock, Jessup. I might take you up on the bags, and I'm always down for having folks from MMORPG.com on my friend's list.
Ruvan - Eth Mage. I'm in Stonefield right now.
I queued up for a dungeon last night and DD popped and that didn't go well. Boos 1 cleaved through the tank like they were a squishy. I might have to go healer just to get a decent queue time.
Warriors are a bit gimped right now. All the other tanks I have talked to have been complaining. Yet I guess that is expected (balancing I mean) Yet right now we are struggling a bit lol
Brasse announced in chat that the devs had no intent to try balancing in Prime. They were looking forward to seeing what combinations/builds the players came up with. I'm not quite sure that means that warrior tanks are out of luck but it's been a long time since Trion really had sufficient developer body count to sufficiently cover Rift (example: Starfall Prophey's amazing dearth of launch content ran out well before level cap even if you ran every quest, rift you came across, and did daily crafting quests for the XP).

I had feeling souls won't be balance as there to many souls and combiantions. If they nerf soul a other souls will takes it place as op king never ends.
Excluded a large portion of the launch/possible returning player-base when they decided to only have a one pve server. I know several dozen pvper's, myself included, that would have loved a second server with open world pvp and conquest to go along with this. Even if it comes at a later time, it's likely some of the prime "hype" will have died down and there will also be better pvp titles available. This was a great time for something like this because of the lack of mmo's or pvp titles releasing/in playable beta's atm.
Btw (not sure if bugged or intended) you can flag for pvp and kill unflagged (other faction) players.
If they don't balance classes and tune content people will leave. It's really fun right now but as people get higher in level, especially at cap, they will expect more when paying a sub.

It's TRION we are talking about here. They just cash in as long as they can with minimal effort. That has been their standard work ethic for years now.

I get the feeling the devs love prime and want the game to be solidly about challenge and rewards through play, but obviously they don't get to decide on pay to win, cash grabs, etc.
I'm hoping that Trion will put proper effort into Prime and build it up, but for sure it's easier to throw in lootboxes, pay to win, no effort and grab whales as they do in archeage.

Hard part too, it is on Trion part to make sure the a high % player base don't leave. Other is up to the players to stay if they want a sub to come back as other company may look at this even XL game. Then we'll see sub coming from other games that people feel that it should had a sub model.
They using that hyped to make a few bucks before the game really dies...
Really??? I haven't talked to anyone whose logged into Prime that isn't having fun. I think they are testing other avenues of making a Prime membership more worthwhile!
If they want to make the membership more worthwhile they should include a proper permanent Prime server as being forced onto live after the server shuts down in a year is not appealing due to the cash shop. This is the main reason I decided to sit on the fence and see what happens.
I'm glad to see Prime is popular at least initially and if it continues there's at least hope for future servers.
They said that if things are going well it would stay open. Kind of amazing people are worried about something a year out. It’s entertainment. Geez
I wasn't aware they'd said that so that's good news. I hope it's permanent. I hopped in unexpectedly on Tuesday after not thinking about let alone playing this game since pre-F2P days. But now I'm finding it hard to log out, just wanting to keep on playing. I'm having a blast and didn't expect it at all.
Prime server is trying to re-sell me the turtle mount in the "limited cash shop" that I got by buying the collector's edition of the game when it came out. That's how greedy they are but it really did not surprise me.
Anyone paying $15 a month for Prime for TWO classes should really think about what they can get on the live server for the same amount of money. For a $15 one time fee on live you can buy the primalist pack that has like 6 classes you can play whenever you like cause there's no sub required.
Do yourself a favor and play on the main server cause in 2-3months or less prime server will be empty and your character(s) will be stuck there. If you don't like the cash shop on main just ignore it like I've done for many years.
They had some good reasons for limiting it to 2 character slots on Prime and so far I like it this way. I think it was a good decision and I say that as someone whose usually an altaholic.
I played Vanilla Rift. Not interested in F2P/P2W Rift. When I heard about this prime I was happy. But then I saw it will only last 1 year and then transfer to F2P/P2W Rift that I dont play. So no Thx.
Dont understand why they must move my char to non prime server afterwards? So stupid.

I'd say that if you love MMOs and have never really gotten into Rift, give it a shot. I played it heavily back at release, for about 1-2 years, and had such a great time. It has a really weird flavor, that world - very unique. I think the art style put people off, but you sort of get used to it.
It's true, there is a lot of confusion about what classes are viable and what are not. The truth is that always in MMOs people go on about the most optimal classes, but my memory of Rift is that there's just a lot of flexibility with their souls system.
I've been out of the game for a long time and tried to re-capture the itch once about a year ago, but stepping into an existing server just didn't hook me. I think that I might give it a go again now, while New World devs sort out their giant mess of spaghetti code.
