Overwatch News - The Overwatch League team Dallas Fuel has announced that it has released controversial team member Felix "xQc" Lengyel after he was suspended by the League for a second time. The first 4-game suspension came after Lengyel made homophobic remarks on a livestream. The second, more recent, suspension "repeatedly used an emote in a racially disparaging manner on the league's stream and on social media and used disparaging language against Overwatch League casters" and fellow players".

    how is this news ?

It is "news", stop being a child. You might have a legitimate point if you questioned why an MMO website is reporting on it.

I can picture his next job interview...

What was your last job? - i played video games.

Why did you quit? - i got fired from Overwatch.

I could see this coming. His fanbase is extremely racist all the time and toxic as hell. It's not surprising he acts the same way.

Honestly, I hope they clamp down hard on this type of behavior. It's bad enough that the OW community in general is toxic and Blizz has to spend copious amounts of time dealing with it, but it's a whole 'nother thing when the "professionals" act like spoiled, entitled, offensive human beings.

Per his Twitter feed response and the comment regarding his fanbase in this article, it seems like he certainly took away the right lesson: if you don't want to be held responsible for being a little shit, the only folks you can work with are other little shits.

Pfft it is not only the community,Blizzard is 100% selling their products to surround the $$$ market of Esports.
has their ever in the history of man been a pvp sport where two are happy with each other?

Football there is cheap hits,Hockey fighting, basketball even has fighting, coaches screaming at refs, commissioner's and execs going over disciplinary situations etc etc.

I can simply point at some of the biggest money making streamers. They sit there and think it is cool to swear every sentence and talk like they are gangsters from the hood.Guess what, these streamers that act like immature 12 year olds have 20...50..100k followers, many giving them money to act like asshats.

You got chicks sitting in front of a cam with their cleavage hanging out,the entire community surrounding the internet is toxic.
Do  i need to also bring in Reddit and twitter? Was it not Chris Robert's wife who stopped going on social media because there was too much flaming of her?

Long winded point,is there are bad people on BOTH sides of the fence, many feeding the toxicity and the gamer's viewers feeding on it.

We have to realize this is the way the world is,you can't hide underneath a rock,it will guarantee to get worse. You have governments leeching money from taxpayers, tax payers get angry, bills are too high, inflation is too high, price of buying a house is retarded,so yeah there are people FEEDING the problem and people joining the problem,it is EVERYWHERE.

I'm so sick of adults whining like children and screeching toxic toxic at everything that hurts their feelings. OW, isn't that bad.. CS has a pretty annoying user base.
So racist and homophobic remarks are OK in your book? OK, gotcha.

Blizzard and Riot Games crack down on it, but DOTA 2, and Smite do not, I've posted on Smite's forums how Toxic Trolls abuse the reporting system to get players who don't even talk suspended from the game, and what a joke Smite is to be an Esports title, have yet to hear from them on any fixes to the game... Meanwhile the players who abuse the reporting system talk toxic stuff in chat and get away with it.

As it is when I play Overwatch I usually just turn off text, and voice entirely because its usually just a bunch of kids who argue when playing with randoms I relaly could careless if all 4 other players go AFK they can do whatever they want if I am going to take it seriously I queue as 5.

You know, there is a difference between adults whining about the smallest little slight and someone complaining about remarks that pretty much disparage/belittles large groups of people simply because of who they are.

Why should these poisonous people be suffered?

You get paid good money to play a game as a professional .. here is a wild idea .. ACT Like a professional. I think things like this (being fired) is a good thing. You should be working toward a healthy game environment.
Even in the NHL, sure fighting exists, but it happens when both want it to happen, you do not have some defense man ganking a center, and if it does happen you know there will be consequences.

That is the thing: some folks don't see those people as poisonous.  They seem them as right.  Easy to get offended when your own personality flaws are pointed out in others.  It doesn't make him right, and his spiel about everyone making everything offensive is just a defense mechanic to deflect from the fact that he doesn't mind homophobia and racism and is, himself, offended that folks are pointing it out.

This streamer isn't a stand up comedian.  He isn't making awesome satire to help us face the parts of our society we don't like talking about through comedy.  He's just spreading drivel.  He should be treated as such.

No offense, but Esports isn't even a profession. The fact they've titled it as such is hilarious. Professional gamers is below golf and badminton as far as I'm concerned. Who would of expected a 22 year gamer to be politically incorrect on a stream. I know, I know. He's a professional, lol.
Well, if golf can be a profession (sigh) then it's really not much of leap for video games to be "a profession".

It's as silly as silly can be but anything that people pay for can in fact be a profession.

    to be fair...

He has an impulse issue... Stress and pressure seems to make it worse... That is a bad mix.

But on that same note it seems that there is a management issue as my question is.. Why did nobody stop him and forced him to.. you know... chill and get some professional help by the way of impulse management and perhaps some light therapy...

Anyway, it is mostly growing pains.

You clearly aren't the target demographic (me either btw). But the 13-25 crowd isn't nearly as interested in "real" sports like basketball, football, baseball and hockey. It's why EVERY single one of these professional organizations are now embracing esports -- to stay relevant and to bring in the next generation of customers.

Most of the Overwatch teams are owned by the same people who own major NBA/NFL/MLB/NHL teams as well as those who are forward-thinkers moving into a new territory of what is considered a sport.

I am old enough to remember when skateboarders and snowboarders were considered a fad, and mostly just for kids. No one took them seriously. Now those are both Olympic sports with big endorsements, etc. So as much as I may think "e-sports" are nonsense, I have learned to keep an open mind.

As for the bad behavior, all you can do is boot the bigots whenever and wherever you find them.

So .... They promote an atmosphere of competitive, winning is everything, gladiatorial arena supported by ridiculous swagger and fanfare and somehow people are shocked when this venue manages to draw a few assholes into the fray.
I wouldn't say I'm shocked at anything other than how the guy could've thought he could spew such messages so publicly without consequence.

Would you prefer he get physically disciplined at an event or when he's outside of his digital social bubble? If so I agree.

It's cool to be sick of whining until the alternative is presented. Then it's "that wasn't necessary" "that wasn't right".
