I think that's where I'm the opposite, I love long "time to kill" games (I am assuming that's what that means?).

I loved killing Bams in Tera with just my lancer. The battles feel more epic which is something I miss from most mmorpg's.

I wonder if we are about to get the wave of MH clones? 5 millions copies sold in 3 days says there is a high demand for games of the same genre.

And I'd gladly welcome any clone of MHW if it was available on PC right now - especially in sci-fi environment.

(I have Dragon's Dogma - but its storyline is too emotional to replay it for more than couple times)

The monsters are pretty lame, their tendency to flare up and yell or stand with chest out is pretty silly. I know there are mechanics, but in a fight why would one ever lay off the gas pedal and just stand there while someone beats on them with a giant hammer.

Man i felt the same way watching the streams. I just didn't get the hype over what i saw. You just grind on monsters. Its like a raid with every encounter.

I think it needs to be put in perspective. What was space invaders but clearing a screen of very pixelated enemies only to do it again and again and again but each time slightly different?

Come to think of it, same with a lot of arcade games. Yet it was fun as heck.

What is a doom game, even the latest one, but going from room to room blowing away monsters?

I'm unsure of the game, but I will pick it up when it is cheap. That is usually what I do with games that are not must buys for me. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised hehe.

Actually, the Monster Hunter series has created an entire genre over the last decade resulting in games like:

Toukiden
Soul Sacrifice
God Eater
Freedom Wars

I find it funny when people call the current MH 'just hype.' This series has a long history and huge following, most who bought it knew exactly what they were getting. To add, the series has sold 45 million copies total over 14 years.

I don't particularly like these kinds of games.. and the ridiculously large weapons kind of turn me off.. but apparently the gameplay is very good and that's what matters.

It was not unleashed on the "world". Less than half the Worlds gamers might be playing this since it's only on Console. If you want the "World" to play it, release it for the PC which is more than half of the gaming community.

That's really just a turn of phrase isn't it? Besides, one can choose to play it on console or not. Just because someone plays on pc doesn't mean they can't just get a console.

Also, console games sell more than pc games. And "yes" I'm a pc player.

This differentiation between "pc/console" seems silly. Bordering on childish.

It's Monster Hunter, it's been around since 2004 and this is the most awesome one to date.

It's hilarious seeing old weenies complaining about the depth of it, go find a text based MUD and chill TF out.

What are you going to complain about next? Double Dragon? Strider? Space Harrier?

Im really enjoying this game and its not the genre i usually enjoy. Something about this game scratches my MMO itch despite not being one. I think the biggest thing for me is the monsters themselves, In a game with oversized sometimes silly looking weapons and fighting companion cats the monsters are the real stars. The animation, sound,setting all so immersive.
