They have internet "cafes" all over the place. Almost any business you go into, any restaurant, any hotel/motel has wi-fi connectivity. And there are "traditional" internet cafes as well. Go to Starbucks or any number of other coffee shops and there you go.
No, free wifi at starbucks is not the same as a gaming internet cafe.
I love the atmosphere of a bunch of people playing hardcore viseo games together. Playing a computer game in starbucks, which ive done a lot, feels lame and out of place, i should be doing some kind of work sipping an overpriced drink if i am there.
I mean a place with music, keyboards, shitty food offered, red bull vending machines, teenagers looking at porn, type of place where i like watching the other people play their games as much as i like playing my own.
I could do without the smoking though, holy crap, it is bad.

Internet cafees were popular 96-05 over most of the world. Today most people have access to internet both from home and in their phone so they are mainly popular in places where not everyone have internet access and some in certain tourist places.
Now, gaming cafees are still around here and there, where a bunch of people can go and play team games but there are fewer of them every year (at least here in Sweden) as well.
Today most cafees just offer free wireless internet access from you Ipad or laptop.
The American dream is now all about becoming your own island. Nobody plays outside anymore. Nobody just visits another person without calling them first.
Social media / ability to buy anything Online and get it the next day / naughty material...

It's sad.
That's pretty much how every developed country is going while the rest of the world desperately tries to catch up to our isolation.
I thought about opening one up, the problem is you can't really make a lot of money with them unless you franchise it. The other problem is that as a general statement, millennials don't really understand what it means to make money and almost always there is a millennial who will open up another one down the street and no charge anything for the services.. which drive both you and them out of business. That's the main reason why you don't see a lot of them in the US.
I recently saw a documentary on internet cafe's in Japan. Actually it was about the homeless in Japan. Apparently some internet cafes run 24 hours and never close. The rates are so reasonable that people actually live there, sleeping on the floor at night. The rooms are completely enclosed but it's like a tall cubicle because the rooms are open at the top. One guy had lost his high paying job. One lady was a escort. So mostly just a lot of people struggling to get by.

Why leave the house to do something I can do at home where it's comfortable and quiet?
wouldn't it be great if all jobs were like that?
Ahh I think we will see more work from home jobs. Why pay to rent office space or to build a building when you can rent a conference room once week/month/quarter to have a face to face meeting and then let everyone work from home. Not only that but taking thousands of vehicles off the roads will help reduce pollution, reduce the stress on roadways, etc. The benefits are myriad.
One thing I have seen more of is "generic" offices set up for just this reason. Companies that operate completely without a dedicated office can have meetings and then go back to their 'home office' and do their work.
With the various different methods of sharing ideas, transferring files, and online collaboration, I think this is a trend we will see more and more. Bussiness trends tend to back this up as well.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

Internet cafes were around, but they are largely unnecessary. For free internet access, you have libraries. For gaming, you have gaming centers, we have at least 2 of them here where they have game nights setup for both PCs and Consoles. The only way they make any money are on contests and LAN parties.

Aren't gaming centers just a type of internet cafe?
Also, I don't think they are everywhere. Having said that I did actually find one here in Boston! Surprise surprise!

Well, not really. In internet cafes generally allow you to do whatever you want on the PCs, in the gaming centers, you're generally focused on whatever games they have going on.
I might be wrong in that, I've only been to them during play sessions, but at one of them I went to I wasn't even allowed to check my email from a gaming computer, they had it locked down, the guy said it was because they don't want people downloading anything that could slow the systems.
I think most big cities these days will have some kind of gaming center around. If you're into that kinda thing, they certainly need your support.
I remember when I was traveling in vancouver a year or so back there was a restaurant where you signed up to play games competitively in between courses.

I went during a smash brothers night, it was fun, the food was awful though.
I was getting psyched up there gaming and food for a night out. And then you said the food was awful.
Well, it's "awful" in the sense that its bar/diner food that's edible. Basically you go there for the atmosphere, they have stuff on the menu like the "triforce" burger and "commander shepherds" pie, but the burgers were overcooked. I'd still go back for the novelty and games, if you're ever in vancouver it's worth a visit, just order something fried.

Awesome! Will do! I have family there so I visit every year or so.
I will expect a report back from Cryomatrix on how P2W it is. Do you get a choice of male or female avatar when you order a Commander Shepard pie and so on.
Try google dense american city and internet cafe. I think the reason internet cafe is more popular in korea because of how dense and accessible internet cafe is.

YMCAs can occasionally be good for consoles. Though they normally end up in the tween/teen rooms.
