  It's sad that I get more entertainment from failed / unfinished MMOs and the drama around them than from playing those which are currently available.

  Yeah, no doubt. That whole post was cringy af and obviously him opening a door for another disaster.
  
  This guy is like a mosquito, he just keeps coming back and humiliating himself, some people never learn I guess, smh.

  If he actually does refund those kickstarter backers I will be surprised and might be inclined to change my opinion about him a bit.

  Best case scenario? He does what he says he will do. That at least shows a little integrity.
  
  IF this is just a way to "hopefully" ingratiate himself but he doesn't have the money then he can hang himself with the rope he wanted.

  Oh I don't disagree and that was the very first thing I thought when I read this. BUT if he manages, through kickstarter, to reimburse people then all the better. If no reimbursement ever happens then he's doubly screwed as far as his reputation.
  
  So, self promotion aside, let's see if people actually get their money back.

  The guy is one of those people who, after telling themself something three times, believes it to be true!
  
  Would be nice if he paid back some of those folks.   Looking back at his career though, you'd be loony to count on it.

  Is it really a new scam if he isn't asking for anyone to give him any money?  If he is asking for money, someone please correct me, but I didn't see it anywhere.
  
  At most, if he isn't taking money from anyone, and if he does nothing after this, this is "Much ado about nothing" instead of a new scam, I'd think.

  I think what people are pointing out is that instead of saying:
  
  "hey all, I've done better for myself so I now have the ability to reimburse people for their contributions"
  
  he is saying
  
  hey all, I've done better for myself by turning my friends' money into larger pots of money, 3k into 90k in such a short amount of time. I've doubled another friend's money and it looks like it could even be 9x his intitial investment! Since I've been able to do the same for myself I've decided I now have the ability to reimburse people for their contributions"
  
  The only thing he leaves out is "I can do the same for you!"
  
  One could jump to the conclusion that he wants people to say "wait a minute, if you can do that for your friends and for yourself can you do it for me?!?!?!"
  
  But on another level "who cares". We're all adults and should have developed or are in the process of developing good habits with how we use our money so it doesn't matter what he does in the spare time.
  
  As long as he honors that promise "as is" then that is all that matters.
  
  Of course, the other side of that coin is him coming back and saying "I thought I was going to be able to give everyone's money back but wasn't able to raise the cash I thought I could make.
  
  I have issue with his approach as all he needed to do was say "hey, I'm in a better place financially and I'm going to start reimbursing as many people as possible with the goal of paying back all the money."
  
  Or even better? He could have raised the entirety of the money and then stated that he would now reimburse everyone and left it at that.

  Or even better, he could have reimbursed the money and then made huge announcements about how all the backers have been paid back thanks to his profitable business.
  
  Only that would have required him to have actual money instead of ability to lie.
