The year just started so what better way to do new things for the year than to begin a bi-weekly column on Warframe. Everyone knows about Warframe right? No? Well than, let's start off with an introduction not only to Warframe. I'm Brandedwolf and this is your introduction to being a Space Ninja. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe.

Warframe is a really great experience, especially given it is truly F2P. Many of my friends play Warframe on-and-off as well, and really enjoy that the game does not have a punishing monetization model. Yes, there is a lot of stuff for sale, however, it is all easily accessible by selling items to other players for platinum or by grinding for it and crafting it yourself. It really reminds me of a third-person, sci-fi version of Diablo; its a looter shooter with tons of fun game play combinations and nearly endless horizontal customization/progression.
DE has come a *very* long way from where they've started. They are *constantly* updating the game at a rather quick pace, and take lots of feedback from their community as a whole. This is the biggest reason I've been an avid supporter of Warframe from the beginning.
The biggest gripe I have with Warframe tends to be with the community in general, as it tends to be a bit younger. Other than that, some of the more desirable items can be difficult to grind for, but still attainable none-the-less. However, other than that, I can't think of any reasons to not suggest people giving it a shot.
That barrier of entry is the only reason I don't still return to it, especially with new content being added. I just can't seem to convince people stick with it long enough to understand how it works.
fyi, what you asked for here, was obviously a weapon, and weapons are (at least bascially) not bound to specific warframes
you equip any range weapon, melee weapon and your warframe independed from each other, level them, and slot em and so on.
usualy you try to chose those who have a nice symbiosis tho, but no one forces you.

The warframe in the third picture is Trinity wielding dual scythes. The pet is a kubrow. It's size is slightly exaggerated.
Trinity is an all-around warframe with abilities that focus on healing.
There are no limits as to what combination of warframe, weapons, and pets you use. Don't want a pet? Don't use it.
Most chat comments about archwing space defense missions are negative. I like it and often have high kill counts because I use mostly melee instead of fired weapons trying to hit targets coming from all directions.
You're totally right, haha! Didn't notice the last picture as I wasn't in the article version when I replied. The dual-wielded scythes are Dual Kamas Prime, for reference.
Approximately half of the gaming population is female. I have never heard a woman state they refuse to play a game because there are only male avatars. They don't like that limitation but they have accepted that the artificial avatars are not representative of who they are. Can you do the same?
Agree. Which is a topic I want to cover later on. Having played it off and on myself, whenever they did a major combat update it felt hard to get back into. There have been time's I've considered making a new account to try to relearn some things. But I'm not getting rid of all the junk I have on my main account.

I'd say playing through the tutorial helps plenty. Get Rhino as soon as can, it really is a good all around frame in beginning, very forgiving.
Try not to get overwhelmed with all the mods/weapons. YOu don't need everything.
Thank you for the clarification. I haven't played very much and I was thinking the weapons came with the warframes.
Secondly, as soon as you gear up your first warframe, start farming relics to collect prime sets to sell for platinum. You can also sell them for Ducats to buy rare stuff from the merchant who lands in game every 2-3 weeks.
Also Increase your slots for new warframes and weapons as much as you can.
Also, joining a clan(guild) that has everything unlocked in their Dojo(guild house) is vital. There are very good crafting blueprints only obtainable inside dojos.
Lastly, make a Smeeta Kavat as soon as you can. Kavats are the cats of Warframe, and the Smeeta type has a special ability that acts as a loot drop booster, giving you a chance to duplicate any rare loot you pick up while the buff is active.
EDIT: gearing up the Ember warframe as soon as you can will help you breeze through the whole game.
Do newbies still get paired in matches with veteran players? I heard that was a big negative for many- running through missions trying to keep up with vet players with powerful weapons clearing content faster than you can even get to it.
THat's one of the main reason i main Ember, so i don't have to worry about people who rush the game. I kill everyone with ease.
Be sure to /listen/ to the narrators Lotus and Ordis. A lot of beginning instruction is first given verbally. Press Esc and explore the menu items. Be sure to look at the Codex for more game play and lore instruction.
I suggest playing mostly Solo at first. Solo or team play can be selected in the upper left corner of the planet system map. The upper right is the listing of missions.
Mission wise, always take missions that reward Orokin Reactor and Catalyst (both are called potatoes by players) blueprints or Nitain Extract. You can only (essentially) get Nitain Extract from missions that occur only 4 times in any 24 hours.
EDIT: you can also earn spectre blueprint from some missions apparently.
I don't mind playing with youngsters, but is the grouping common, quick and easy, or is it more like a solo game unless you get friends to play with you or put in a good bit of effort to gather a team? Most games these days seem like the second to me.
Even twitch viewership is abysmally low.
I think after 6+ years of open beta (etc), the game won't get much better. It'll be an aging game in a year or two and DE will finally be hitting its stride with the game. A shame too.
You can set your game to public and auto match make with people on a planet or mission. Its all instanced, aside from the new PoE zone. All instanced.
