Disney and Lucas Arts have announced a new mobile arena-based multiplayer PvP mobile game called Star Wars: Rivals. Similar to Overwatch, players can switch out heroes at will during the match. Heroes are unlocked through progression and drops. You'll find iconic characters such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Jyn Erso, Fin, Phasma and more.

    when ever I hear mobile, I instantly think cash grab because that's all a mobile game is for. To suck you in, make you addicted, and wanting more which you can only get by paying real money. It's a great business model, just a shitty one for gamers.

    Its kind of funny that this Star Wars mobile game is coming out given that BF2 was caught trying to implement mobile practices to a full retail title. Even if the publishers aren't related, owners of the franchise should be concerned.

    And to think mobile games are often cast as "cheap" and "simple". This looks to be neither.

    How someone would play it on a phone though? A decent sized tablet though I could see working.

    This looks horrible. I hate these games on mobile, the controls are always horrendous, there is no story, they are always glitchy and unbalanced, and of course a complete cesspool of P2W slimy business practices.

    Welcome to what could be the future of gaming. The player base is the largest there is, has little or no understanding of gaming ethos and seems more inclined to accept every odious cash shop practice thrown at them.

    Yet another game where your abilities are a measure of how deeply you reach into your wallet to pay for them, is it any wonder that the mobile market is such a joke when it comes to games, there are too few good examples compared to all the cash hungry games. :/

    I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

    Just to clear things up EA definitely does have a Star Wars mobile game https://www.ea.com/games/starwars/galaxy-of-heroes.

    As for this one, Star Wars: Rivals, EA isn't responsible for it.

    Nice catch. I saw another Star Wars crappy game that looked like a cash out and thought "of course, this is EA." But you are mostly correct, sir/ma'am, this is not EA. According to the Google Play page, it's being put out straight from Disney. The mouse doesn't want a middleman today! Of course, the "mostly" part is due to the fact that EA did in fact release a SW mobile game. edit for spelling fix!
