Nexon has been a failure for many years in many ways part of the problem is the reputation from Combat Arms, Law Breakewrs could be great but it needs many improvements, and more heroes / maps and objectives.
Mobile games are not for me. Not MMO's and not any other game on a mobile device. For years the "thing" was to get the best graphics on the biggest monitor you could. With mobile, everything is going the wrong way.

I'm guessing the target audience is a completely different crowd.....Mobile MMOs are much easier and much cheaper to make....They make a quick game, make their millions, and move on to the next one.
I hated MMOs on Mobile until I tried Lineage 2 Revolution. Not for everyone obviously, but I am absolutely hooked.
I'm very excited to see what they come up with for FFXI mobile.
Hooked is the appropriate word. Designed to tickle that dopamine affect like every other feature on cell phones these days.
I mean, yea. Why do you think you like the things you do? Activities we enjoy trigger those chemicals in the brain. I'm not sure what you are getting at with that statement.
I absolutely hate mobile games. The phone is what connects us to the real world, e.g., calls, texting, family, friends, job, co-workers, social media, etc etc etc etc etc.
When I play my games, I like to completely escape everyone and do my thing. Not a fan of using the most social device ever to play games.

A PC is no different than a smartphone at this point in technology. They are both highly social platforms and the only reason your smartphone connects you to things like social media is because it's basically a mini computer.
"Way back in the day" before smartphones we used PCs for AOL Messenger, ICQ, MSN Chat, etc. But to each their own. I also hated mobile games until I gave them a fair shake.

I understand that and figured someone would chime in on such. Yes. They are both computers. However, they both have completely different auras and you know that :P
Except a couple things to note,FFXI mobile will not be cheap to make and will not have bad graphics.
The issue will be the screen size as i suspect most will find a way to play it not on mobile but through some emulator. So will we be able to stretch fit onto pc screen or will it be a thin area of the screen,we will have to see.
Fact that Nexon partnered up tells me they will likely spam it with cash shop ideas which will completely remove it from any small radar i have for the game.It really is too bad that mobile being a LESSER of in quality and graphics seems to think it warrants such invasive cash shops.
I can't believe people will actually spend 150-200+ bucks on their phone packages to possibly have enough data to play a mmorpg online,it is ridiculous to me.Then on top fo that if the game is as i suspect likely going to cost another 40-50 a month to play it fully.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
I enjoy mobile games. What I do not enjoy is the extreme P2W culture of most mobile games. But there are a few quality games out there that you can play entirely for free - or at a very reasonable cost(100s a month is not reasonable).
As long as decent companies like Nexon continue making games on mobile, the quality should improve. The problem with mobile gaming stemmed from the same issues pc mmo gaming suffered from a bit ago. Every basement dwelling startup thought they could snap some assets together using a free engine and throw a price on it for a quick buck.

Looks like it would have made a killer VR game though.
Let's party like it is 1863!

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I wouldn't expect that from Nexon.
