This has been a big problem for some time, it was only a matter of time before some company tried to turn a AAA game into a full on casino. Lootboxes need to die, get this shit out of our games.
I wish people would start to notice that for the most part indies do it for the love of the game, so called AAA firms do it to fuck you.

I have known this for years

I wish people had good enough taste in games to realize indies make the good ones and the AAA ones can barely be called games.

But this is true of any medium.  Tyranny of the masses ensures little kids with poor taste control how popular anything is.  That is why the most popular music is horrible (thanks little girls!).  I have poor taste in movies and love the super hero blockbusters, but at least I am honest enough with myself to know I have poor taste in movies.  Little kids with no life experience, no taste at all, no grasp of mechanics or systems beyond the superficial, etc, decide what games are super hits.

This, to me, is a great flaw in capitalism and free economies.   You don't see this crap going on in N. Korea or the in other communist countries. In those countries, current or prior, adults with poor taste decide what music and movies are or were popular and there are no video games to sully the minds of the young.

What I love about this: Cash Shops became prevalent first in the orient, so you could get the idea everyone there loves them right? NO! :D

I started MMORPGing in 2004 with RuneScape.

I was a Pre-Teen Child when the Original Head-To-Head Football Handheld Portable Video Game came out; and, I grew up playing the alot of the Groundbreaking Video Games prior to the internet; such as, Pong and Space Invaders.

In 2004, World Of Warcraft was "The Game" to play and own; and, was "The Standard" that all other Video Games were measured; and, World Of Warcraft had held that title for a number of years.

In 2004, World Of Warcraft was an Adult-Only Video Game that required a Credit Card for Identity Verification, and Monthly Membership Payments, to play; otherwise, World Of Warcraft was wasted Computer Memory Space on your Desktop Computer.

In 2004, World Of Warcraft also required State-Of-The-Art Desktop Computer Systems to play; and, Laptop Computer Systems couldn't handle that kind of Computer Processing.

I started playing RuneScape in 2004; because, I had walked into a Public Library to do some Personal Project Research; and, noticed that the Library's 20-50 Desktop Computers were all occupied by Pre-Teens & Tweens & Young Teenagers; and, that they all were playing RuneScape.

My Home Computer didn't have Internet Access; and, wasn't powerful enough to handle Internet Gaming.

I went to an available Desktop Computer in that Public Library and checked out RuneScape for myself. Even though, I was in my 30s; and, I have alot of Video Gaming Experience prior to 2004, I am not a very good Video Game Player; because, I am not a Hardcore Video Player. I am a Hardcore Pencil-N-Paper RPGer.

    I played RuneScape from 2004 thru 2012.

Between 2004 and 2006, the RuneScape Players were generally friendly and helpful. In Al Kharid, there were 2 Giant Scorpions that guarded the fishing holes. It was common for one Player to fish while another Player fought off the Giant Scorpions; and, the Defended Players paying the Defender Player something for the Service. By the time JAGEX removed one of the Giant Scorpions from Al Kharid, there was no such Player Cooperation.

Between 2004 and 2006, I was very vocal in glorifying RuneScape as an excellent MMORPG for Children; and, for Inexperienced Adult Video Gamers like myself.

In 2006, when JAGEX removed one of the Giant Scorpions from Al Kharid, JAGEX also introduced the General Exchange. This marked my 2006 thru 2008 Gameplay Era with RuneScape. JAGEX also had created the FunOrb Website during this time period.

I found playing RuneScape was less enjoyable due to Player Hostility towards my Avatars. I had like 10 FTP Avatars and 1 PTP Avatar; and, my 2005 PTP Avatar was mostly fixated on Player-Owned Housing Construction; and, Seasonal Events. In 2006, all of my FTP Avatars were under Combat Level-20; and, my PTP Avatar was under Combat Level-30; because, my RuneScape MMORPG Gameplay Activities weren't centered around Questing and PvP Combat and battling NPCs.

Between 2008 and 2012, I was in my 40s; and, I was wanting more Adult-Only Content for my Video Game Experience; and, RuneScape's Kid-Friendly Combat Mechanics were no longer matching my Video Game Combat Skill & Video Game Combat Mechanics Interests. In 2012 my Pay-To-Play Avatar was no longer playable; and, Player Interaction with all of my RuneScape Avatars were 100% hostile; thus, I quit RuneScape alotogether.

It is interesting to note the Video Game Industry changes in Game System Models during the 2004 and 2012 time period; and, from 2012 to now. All of these changes were supposed to be Video Game Player Demands. However, Computer Hacking and Multi-Accounting and Account Trading has always been prevalent with all Internet Game Systems; therefore, there is no genuinely accurate measure for Player Support Demands based on MMOG Forums.

One factor has always been true from 2004 thru 2018, The Video Game Industry are constantly Creating New Video Games, and Updating Existing Video Games, to be CPU Hogs. Most of the CPU Hogging is due to Visual Graphics.

In 2004, World Of Warcraft required the Top-Of-The-Line Computer Systems to handle the Video Graphics and the Audio Output.
    - If you didn't have a Top-Of-The-Line Computer System; then, your World Of Warcraft gaming would experience Game Lag.
    - If your Top-Of-The-Line Computer System had World Of Warcraft; and, some other High-End Computer Application, like Video Camera Footage Editor & Still Photo Editor; then, your World Of Warcraft gaming would experience Game Lag.
    - - Game Lag = Avatar Death.
    - - Avatar Death = Lost Avatar Possessions.
    - - Lost Avatar Possessions = Wasted Gameplay Time.
This is also true for the Newest 2018 MMOGs being released as of this writing.

Between 2004 and 2006, there was a High Player Demand for PvP Combat and Player-Owned Guilds and Across Server Player Trading and Across Server Player-To-Player Communication.

Between 2006 and 2008, The Video Game Industry was noting Loss of Profit and Low Game System Purchases due to Players seeking Free-To-Player Game System Models. Thus, Pay-To-Win Gameplay Features were introduced into Internet Video Games. Video Game Graphics was geared towards simulating Real Life Imagery; especially, with Console Sports Games.

Between 2008 and 2012, The Video Game Industry moved towards Cross-Platform Internet Gaming Models. X-Box acquired Internet Access; and, other Console Systems followed.

P2P & P2W Loot Boxes were introduced to entice Players to put money into Video Games.

In the end, the issue is that The Video Game Industry are generating Video Games that are basically copies of RuneScape and/or World Of Warcraft in Gameplay Mechanics; but, are Desktop Computer System Hogs that prevent Desktop Computer Owners from adequately playing/experiencing the New Video Games; as well as, the Internet Video Game Player Base are Hackers who try to overload the Internet Gaming Servers; as well as, use Internet Games for Hacking Activities.

The Video Game Industry isn't going to regulate itself for the benefit of Client-Customer-Gamer Rights.
