Does Funcom Intend for Larger Servers Come Release?

Agricola1Agricola1 Member UncommonPosts: 4,977
Like the title says, I'm toying with the idea of buying this game (despite the fact I was burnt on Age of Conan) and what would really seal the deal is if Funcom ran larger official servers.

From whatI see of Conan Exiles it's closer to what I'd hoped Age of Conan would be than Age of Conan was, kind of weird but I guess thanks to the fact it's not in a closed beta with an NDA and all you get are crypticly vague statements from Devs I can get a handle on this game before release ... and it looks like fun!

It was originally 70, they reduced to 40 for development. Probably go back to 70.

Larger than that? I've not seen anything.

Hmm, since they claim to be making an MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) I'd have assumed they would have servers much larger than a battlefield game but considering how Funcom burnt me before I assume nothing.

Exiles was always going to be a small server survival game. Unless they're working on another mmo. I haven't heard anything about it though.

They claimed to be making Conan Exiles an mmo? Steam has it under "Massively Multiplayer" but that's Steam.

I don't recall Funcom saying it was an mmo. Maybe they did but I've not seen anything like it and I play the game.

I think you're right. I can't find a refference to MMO on the funcom site but it is listed under MMOs on Steam and is listed on this site, my mistake not Funcom's.

They've been pretty good about not calling this a MMO, nor promising any large sized servers.

What you see is what you will likely get going forward.

You were probably thinking about Snail Games with Dark and Light who did say multiple times that they were making a MMO, which just turned out to be another survival game just with in a fantasy setting.

I would still try it. I like it very much (it does have issues but it hasn't launched yet).

I actually had to pull back as my building was a bit overwhelming and I'm trying to finish a mod. Can't do both and have a life.

All just hearsay and speculation. As with any other game (be it early accerss or not) don't expect to get more as already exists. Good way not to be disappointed. So if you don't like the game with its current features I would suggest to not buy it.
