(Skyrim, Fallout 4) Creation Club

TheScavengerTheScavenger Member EpicPosts: 3,321
So for months people have been making a big deal about the Creation Club, vowing to never use it, uninstall the games and never play a Bethesda product again.

Wait...but Skyrim has survival mode for free on Creation Club. Early reports from a dev on twitter is its immensely popular...but...I thought people didn't like the creation club? That they'd never use it and they'd remove Skyrim and never play it again?

That tells me that there is no issue with Creation Club. Some things need price changing to be a more in line with the original DLCs. But the real problem is...like DLC content for other games (like Ark that gets hated on because of DLC OR Black Desert Online's cosmetic cash shop), people are huge fat ass free loaders that expect 100% of everything to be free and all games should never cost a single penny. They are really just trolls that want everything free and hate paying for products or content.

Since the Survival Mode is so popular, that proves there was never an issue with the Creation Club. It also proves people just complain because they have to pay to unlock some content...like they complain about Ark DLC and every DLC for every game to come out. If Creation Club was the problem, people wouldn't use it to get the Survival Mode that is currently up for free. That proves that despite all the trolls, they actually have no issue with the Creation Club, but the fact oh no, gotta pay. Otherwise they'd just not use it at all and get "free" mods that are nowhere near the same quality.

...but...I thought people didn't like the creation club?
Why because a few people on a forum said so?

Sort of like Black Desert and all these people complaining about the karma system. So ... Daum adds a server that has no karma system and .... well it's been reported that there aren't a lot of people there.

Don't ... listen ... to Forums ... to gauge the feeling of communities.

And as I've said before, we are not a club. We are people who share the same love of this hobby and that's pretty much where it ends.

    Yup. This.

So many complained about BDO karma system, and I even posted a thread that the no karma server was pretty dead. So it was really just a very loud small group of people making a bunch of noise. The creation club is pretty much the same thing.

I am not opposed to the creation club, but here are my future concerns. Lets start with the mod Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch by Arthmoor. Arthmoor would like to be paid for his works. And, should he be? Certainly. He's put a lot of time and effort into this mod. BUT. This mod is a bug fix. It's pretty essential for stable game play and has been installed on every game play (or it's 32 bit version) I ever start. So what's the problem? This mod corrects issues that Bathesda chooses not to but should. These breaks in the game. In some cases, can completely break the game altogether. So Why should I pay Bathesda for a broken game only to need to turn around and pay someone else to be able to play it? So Should Arthmoor be paid for this mod? Yes! but not by me. He should get a piece from Bathesda. Or they need to deliverer what we pay for.

OK so what about mods that are not bug fixes but exist to enhance the game play for optional play only? OK, sure, I am not opposed to mod developers who want to create such mods and be compensated. But the community MUST take care not to splinter the crative pool of shared knowlege. Oldrim mods were build off of Oldrim mods making it the most modded and creatively modded game in history. But no one person or team contributed significantly. Not without the help of others. Throwing a paycheck into the mix can drive wedges into this pool.

3rd and lastly. Lets look at Beyond Skyrim - Bruma. It's a huge mod from a huge project by a team of creators. Should this mod make money? NOPE! It's unplayable and breaks my (32 bit) game. Even the creators admit the mod has a memory leak in 32 bit Skyrim. Why should they make money for that? I can't play the mod, eventually I am forced to uninstall it. and now I don't even want to know. Even in SSE, meh......

I am not opposed to paying for an enhanced game experience. But this...........idunno, I guess we have to wait and see how things work out. For now, Survival mode looks great. But given the history of player created content, it's not going to take log before players get hit with dud after dud. Nexus has over 50000 mods for Skyrim......all but a hundred or 2 are just shit. Evewn then, you only need a dozen or two to have a fully modded game. The rest...........as I said......Shit.

Dunno why even bother since you can get similar mods for free. Its not like Bethesda is actually making the mods themselves, they're getting modders to do it, so its the same thing.
