Looking for the worst mmo on the market (no, seriously, I lost a bet!).

Hi all, 

So I lost a bet with my roommate, and my punishment is I must play the crappiest MMORPG on the market for at least 15 hours. I'm looking for what is literally the worst mmorpg on the U.S. market today. Likely a game that is Free to play, but MASSIVELY pay to win, something that is a complete and total grind fest with horrible art style, unimaginative game play, horrid animations, and preferably CazyBus on the Sega Gensis quality music (look it up). Yes, I am looking for quite literally the most abhorrent catastrophe of a game that exists. I was thinking I would go with a game like Dekaron or Requiem Rise of the Reaver. Preferably old school mmo vets could recommend something really bad from the early to mid 2000s when the influx of cheap Korean F2P games really started hitting hard. 

-- Forgot to mention, the game must be playable. It can be laggy, buggy, etc. but it needs to at least run well enough for me to play it for 15 hours on a mid range multimedia PC (AMD R9 380) (i54460) (8GB DDR3).

    A P2W game cannot hurt you in 15 hours. The following statement is to the roommate:

    I'm surprised you haven't gotten an argument yet based on someones suggestion lol.  But I'll take a look tomorrow and see what has been added.  Should at the very least be amusing.

    Actually SB was just a generic, dime-a-dozen member of the SK grinder club. If you scratched off the cheesy (t&a) surface, you found a typical game Aeria used to publish over here, not worse than the average.

    I'd rather apply your thought from the other post, since I agreed with it there too, and it is just as true from this direction as well.
    There's no "best" game and there's no "literally the worst mmorpg on the U.S. market today" either. It's all about a list of preferences, like the ones OP listed (ugly grinder with bad sounds and gfx, unimaginative gameplay) could apply to any lame diablo-clones :smiley:


    For me personally the grind and the handholding defines a "bad" game, that was my issue with SB too for example, not the lore or the fan service, but the massive amount of boring grind underneath the surface.
    With those in mind, I'd drop here my candidate, two piece :wink: I mean One Piece, just a second. Also known as: Handholding Extreme.

    Nah, the 'worst whatever' is always lots of fun, your roommate got it all wrong. What is much worse is completely average, you know, something that sucks the soul right out of you by being so by the numbers your brain just tries to turn itself off. Unfortunately for you that isn't going to happen in the 15 hours ahead of you. Here are 2 games that might meet that criteria:

    -Requiem: Bloodymare
    -League of Angels 2

    'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless. 

    It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

    It is just huge resource waste....'

    I'll offer PWI as an option.  It's most definitely over-reliant on the cash shop, and excessively grindy.  The art is passable, unless you have something against over-sized weapons.  It may not be absolutely dreadful, but the company' reputation behind it (PWE) should help cover up for any perceived lack of defects.

    While I disagree this is the worst ever (different doesn't mean bad) for the purpose of this bet, and I'm guessing these are two younger guys (?) this mmo will suffice.

    I remember making a bet with a friend where, if I saw "Air Bud" he had to see "Good Burger".

    Was grueling for me so I could make his life hell. Yet apparently there are people who like both movies.

    Yes, the notion of "worst" is going to be subjective, so I just defined it in terms of which I thought would be the most unpleasant/not fun game to spend 15 hours in.

    They really messed up the interface on that one. If there was ever an MMO that wanted to be played with just one hand, that one was it. But no, you still need 2 hands to play it.

    I would suggest Forsaken World, it's made by the same company (PWE) that made the aforementioned PWI.  PWI is pretty bad too, but at least the environments and music are passable, plus you can fly.  Forsaken World, though....man.  Last-gen (or more like last-last-gen) graphics, horrid textures, onerously P2W cash shop....oh, and you can bot legally in the game.  Good times!

    I did similar with a housemate. She'd never watched Star Wars and didn't have much interest (not a sci-fi fan) whilst I don't enjoy horror movies. 

    Our deal was I watch The Babadook and she watch A New Hope. Well, I watched Babadook and it sucked balls, was so bored from start to finish and the so called twist was evident after about 20 minutes. She never watched SW......I definitely lost that one!

    This thread is going to be filled with people suggesting mediocre games that aren't actually all that bad. Alganon wasn't an awful game, it was just ran by Derek Smart. It was a WoW clone, and it wasn't all that fun, but it wasn't an AWFUL game. Same with Scarlet Blade. Or the person suggesting Funcom games. Each one of those has a fan base.

    If you want truly awful games, look into playing a clunky awful early 2000's MMO that has no fan base but is still somehow running. Someone recommended Xiah, that game is absolutely 0 fun to play. I remember as a kid I played that game and actually had fun, but I have no idea how. 

    This whole thing is relatively subjective though, because I could suggest games I think are truly awful, but they still have relatively large fanbases. Like Knight Online, that game was a clunky piece of crap, that had no direction or anything fun in it. But somehow it still pulls crazy numbers. Or Dungeon Fighter Online. I feel like that game is not fun, and looks awful, and plays awful but somehow people love it. Or even try RPGMO, that is a runescape/Tibia clone with almost 0 animations, but still somehow people like it.

    You had fun playing Xiah as a kid because "new" is fun. When having a new experience, you have a lot less to compare it against so you're more likely to have fun with it.

    The game is called Conquer Online. I use to play it back in the day, but it truly deserves the title as worst game. The fastest way to move is literally hopping. You can PK anywhere, and people have been playing so long you probably wont make it out of the main city without being killed. The whole game is based around grinding so you can be "reborn" and grind all over again from level 1. Have fun for 15 hours :)
