Astellia is an upcoming MMORPG being prepped for release in North America from Barunson Studio. It’s due out in CBT in Korea next month, and due to release in the beginning of 2018 overseas. While we’re looking at the end of 2018 for its North American release from Nexon, we wanted to chat with Barunson Studio now to find out what we can expect.

Well it looks pretty enough....although considering its origins, the fact that it's being published by Nexon, and from the sheer amount of garbage that's been shoveled onto us over the past 5 years, I am quite certain the Cash Shop will be the most powerful element of the game.....lol

    More korean grind MMOs.

Like DMKano said, do they not understand yet that, in the west, PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE THAT? "The Korean version is Free to Play, but we are considering Pay to Play model to meet the NA gamers’ expectations" Yep, that's gonna work wonders. It will certainly not be DoA like Revelation Online.

I feel like this is what PWE will be going for with their MtG MMO as well.

Well, it's been said, but, yup, looks like another game with gorgeous graphics but the same old pre-set, formulaic gameplay. Yawn.

I feel the reason their games keep coming out the same is because their market just want spam like combat, what we over here call ARPG's.

When you have spam combat it removes so much more that a game can do and really too bad because for certain the KR market is huge but quantity over quality.
Even though a market is dominant in one direction i still find it odd that no one else aims for the market share that the rest are not all fighting for.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

An interview like this is potentially the worst way to introduce a Korean game to the NA Market. The guy's language skills are not robust. Heck, he doesn't even explain what an Astell is! Is it a pet, a weapon, what exactly? "We are considering a Pay to Play model..." Oh boy, here we go again.

You lost me at "Of course."
What every dev/pub should stand behind: "We're committed to creating a fair playing field for all players. You cannot gain gameplay advantage by spending real money in [INSERT GAME NAME]."

It's not even an exaggeration to say this looks like almost literally every other fantasy MMORPG to come out of the East for the last several years. Same art style, same types of envrionments, same combat styles/animations/effects... Even some of the mounts look like they could be out of numerous other MMOs I've already seen or played going back a decade. They're not even trying to pretend that they're trying to be original anymore.

The actual gameplay looks really boring.

The same exact target combat you've seen a million times with the one and only "innovation" being that you can summon these little helper people that fight with you.

And they want to release this is 2018? It would have been a toss away garbage MMO even in 2008.

Why is it with these Korean mmo's that you press one skill button and you screen explodes in a massive array of pyroteknik animations?
After watching that vid I need to lay down in a dark room for a while i feel a migraine coming on.....

I was first excited to see a unique fantasy MMO to come out until I realized that all the characters are locked to a certain look/gender... I don't really mind that in things like Magic or WarHammer, but not in MMOs like these.

I watched a couple of gameplay footage and I found out that it isn't completely open-world, as well as the UI looking a lot like those Chinese MMORPGs with the "bonus" boxes cluttering your view.

Over-all, I thought it would of been more unique than this... to me this looks like another MOBA with a flexible camera. I wish companies would stop being so light with their work and let all players to play in a fantasy world where they can make their own story... I've had enough of this, "be this pre-made character, follow this pre-made questline set out for you to become that pre-planned hero once you hit LV 50".

And just like that, any interest I might have had in the game was immediately obliterated by one single word: "Korean".

It's a shame too because I love other aspects of Korean culture. I've studied some Hapkido and I could eat kimchi every day of the week, but their games? They're abominations.

When I read "Warrior (Tanker), Rogue (Melee dealer), Archer (Range dealer), Mage (Range dealer), Scalar (Healer)" I instantly got bored and lost all interested whatsoever. It's the same nonsense over and over since decades. No thanks.

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Do you have to go to the conflict zone? Can it be avoided all together or must you engage in PvP ?

If it follows the standard Korean template, then endgame is all PVP. The gear upgrades required to stay competitive usually leads to the Cash Shop in one way or another.

Can they stop making these crap MMO's they look good and feel like crap. This is going to be like all the rest of the Korean MMO's, 15 different currencies, flashy moves, million different tasks and 20 years to get to a end game content.
The style it self feels so much like a child's game with goofy characters like moogles and just the way they present them self that its just dumb. for the love of god can any of these kick starters like Crowfall just hurry up and finish so we have a quality MMO?
