I would say what a emulator is, is a translation of code, so i assume you use windows. It is a way windows can understand what amiga code means, so it can do what the original code told a computer to do. Look at it like getting some one to translate english to russian. Since computers only work based off of 1 and 0, and it is logic based on that, all code is just translating 1 and 0 into something easier for humans to understand. So at the very core of all code, it is either 1 or 0, if you understand how windows reads 1 and 0, and you understand how amgia reads 1 and 0, you can make windows code to understand how amgia reads 1 and 0, so it can do what the original did. That is why if you run say a nintendo emulator on a pc, it requires more cpu power than the original nintendo did to understand nintendo code.

As far as something on the internet being safe, basically just always look for forums, generally it comes out if something is a horrid program designed to brake your computer. If you have worries about braking copy write law which i don't really care about that, than you would have to research more. I have no idea who holds the copy write law on that, and the reason I wouldn't care about copy write law is because all copy write law is designed to stop people from taking something and claiming it as their own, and trying to either profit from it or lay claim they came up with it. I have no desire to make profit, nor do i have a desire to take some ones stuff and claim it is mine.

So even if it is technically against the law to say have a nintendo emulator, and a bunch of roms you dont own. Just do not tell any one first, and b if they do find out just tell them you use it to teach about how computers read code and that ends that.

Here is a website with roms.

Remember now, you are using it to educate your self in the ways of computer code :)

O and thanks, i totally forgot about most of these old games i use to play like.

I think there's a difference between Nintendo and Commodore, in regards that the latter is mostly belongs to the category abandonware. But of course you should check with your own region's regulations, here for example (khm, just noticed... location Westfarthing... yep, Shire is pretty good with copyright handling  ) you can use abandonware since neither the hardware (the actual Amiga or 64 or +4 etc.) nor the software are available on the market for well-over a decade now.

hateful, you don't need the hassle with roms if you're in the need of Kyrandia, Westwood made those for DOS as well. I mean, https://www.gog.com/game/legend_of_kyrandia    I think at the last big adventure sale the three books were sold in a bundle for around 5 bucks.

You might not find the games you want here but it is worth a try:  https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_msdos?&sort=-downloads&page=1

You should install dosbox to play ancient games.

There are quite a few games released between 1986 and 1990 that saw their "best" versions (as in best graphics/sound combo) on the Commodore Amiga.  After 1990 and the rise of VGA, then the best ports were almost always for MS-DOS on the PC, but before VGA the Amiga was king of computer gaming.

I had this guy back in the day bragging about his $6000 Apple and F16 Falcon. I payed him a visit and was greeted by a very small B&W screen which left me less than impressed. My $2500 Amiga  kicked his $6000 Apples ass as far as F16 Falcon was concerned.

    I loved my Amiga :)

I miss my commodore 64 and Amiga.  Was a fun time.  We didn't expect super duper graphics because things weren't as evolved.  Because of this, everything seemed new and exciting.

I'm hoping to get some of that feeling when I finally dive into VR.  Still waiting a bit, possibly for next or next next gen.  Can't wait!
