The only person who can be held accountable for an NDA is the person who signed it, so report away.

If you don't, then someone else will beat you to it and steal your advertising clicks.  Any game company that held that against you as a journalist are morons.

Just make sure you heavily preface your article with "While we don't condone breaking NDA's, as it's a bad practice all around, it is being reported that..."
    Your compass is broken....

    Unsurprising.
Lets put this in perspective.  It's an NDA on a video game.  Hardly the end of the world.

If it were to be the end of the world, then there wouldn't be a closed beta at all and only people with TS/SCI clearances and a current CI polygraph (like myself) would be allowed into them.  My 16 year old son got into a couple of closed betas with NDA's.  You might as well let Edward Snowden into your closed beta if you're going to hand it out to kids with no real concept of what it means.
If one does not understand that right and wrong is not a matter of degree, but more of a binary concept which does not depend on the amount of harm it causes, then they have not learned a key element in life.

Scares me that you have security clearance.   :p
That is plain down right wrong.  If a site does not have an NDA agreement, they can report on it and it is in now way wrong.  You can argue it is bad taste or something of that sort, but it is not a wrongulf act, as they never agreed to the NDA.  The site should not be held accountable for what other people do.  Reporting on things that someone else has done is not a violation of anything.  It is actually there job.

News is News and the agreement between two parties being broken has no bearing on what they do.

This will not even hurt them with the company.  Reporting in and of it self is not biased or incorrect.  Thinking it is...............well that is the first step to totalitarianism.

I have no clue what happened in this instance (the one linked earlier).  Since this thread is about a general act, I see nothing wrong with it.

Lastly, anyone who says there are no degrees of right and wrong lives in a fantasy world.  There are most certainly degrees and very few things are completely black and white.  People who think the word is black and white are most certainly not the type of people I would ever seek information or ideas from in any way shape or form.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Yeah, well I've had one for close to two decades and never broken my oath to my country or leaked any information.  Again, reading comprehension.  I wouldn't break my oath, but did reporters run with what Edward Snowden leaked?  Of fucking course they did.
His comments are ignorant; don't worry about it.

To me, it's honourable to report and tell the citizens how their elected governments are fucking them over.

Who really pays the bills anyways?

Too many seem to forget that here in our so called free world, our government is supposed to be working for the people.

This comes down to basically the following:

Two parties had an agreement.  One party broke the agreement and it was newsworthy.  A news outlet reported on it.

    Is that wrong?

No, that is what they get paid to do.  Report on news that is newsworthy.

Now if they planted the article so they could write about it, that would be incorrect.  Since we are using this as a general question of correctness, I am going to assume that all parties are separate.

Like stated previously, it's extremely bad form, but could affect the relationship with the specific company.  In addition, if the site were to become known as 'suspect,' other companies might also begin to avoid providing info to it.

    Potentially bad... all around.

Wow, we really disagree. Right and wrong is completely subjective and almost never binary. Building one's own moral compass is an important part of becoming a fully realized adult. Believing that things are binary, that they are black and white, is the worldview of a child.

    I don't think so.

Leaks should only be noticed with context to what's going on, misinforming is a strong thing because part of leaks that we see is on the rumor tier and that might or might not happen.

I then stated that once the hole is in the dam, it's stupid to stand there as a journalist and say "Nope, that information isn't really out there.  Just gonna ignore it".  Once it's out, it's out.
Just out of curiosity: If someone release a sex video of you online, do you think Facebook and major porn websites should keep it online, with your name, because once it's out it's out.

I think the situation is more complex than that. Whether information is out is one question. Whether you're allowed to distribute is a separate question.

Sure, let 'em post what they want.  They know it will be taken down anyway with little to no consequences.  Look at the guy who found the prototype iPhone left in the bar.  Everyone carried that story.  News is all about the hype.

You continue to show nativity. Priceless.

Certainly there are grey areas in life while others are pretty much universal truths.

When you make an agreement with another man you'd better have a damn fine reason (that most would agree with) to not to honor it.

Definitely not the case here and do remember moral standards can be high or low.

To keep things to a gaming context, your way of thinking leads to hacking, gold selling/buying, griefing others, cheating etc.

All just following their own moral compass right?

    They are just games afterall.

    Utter nonsense.
