Darkfall Rise of Agon team compromise the future of Darkfall

Big Picture Games, one of the two companies to purchase a license to release a custom Darkfall server, has suffered a breach after rushing out their test server. The breach has been said to be so significant, both companies may need to "throw most of Darkfall's code in the trash can and start fresh."

Ub3rgames, the other company to purchase a Darkfall license, talked about the situation further here. They, along with Aventurine, apparently attempted to help BPG out of the mess since the problem posed a threat to them as well, yet they "reopened without waiting on any approval, with an archive that is still defective." As a result, Ub3rgames, plans to have "hacking weeks" during their test phase. The plan sounds desperate as it will rely wholly on players doing the honorable thing and coming forth with their knowledge and hacks of the compromised client.

I can't see how this won't end in legal action as this could not only sabotage Ub3rgames' version of Darkfall New Dawn, but devalues the original games code in the event that Aventurine wanted to sell further licenses.

    So basically Big Picture Games messed up, big time!

    Meanwhile Darkfall Unholy Wars is down... I really hope this has nothing to do with it.

    This really is upsetting... its like someone just came around and decided to take a big dump on the whole thing!

    I hate hackers. Good games are hard.. hacks are for easymode idiots. Let's purge them. Round them up and make them wear armbands. I'm so sick of them ruining my playtime. If you are using hacks please come forward and help, I guess the plan is . .. but seriously stop this knife from going into the community.

    AV has always been good in the past, whenever I dealt with them, about hackers. Go to them if there is anything fishy. I haven't dealt with the new guys yet but seems they have been careless.

    Darkfall code is not trash... start fresh my ass. I'd rather just have to report cheaters instead of waiting for them to redo the code.

    Darkfall code is not trash... start fresh my ass. I'd rather just have to report cheaters instead of waiting for them to redo the code.

    A lot of people would disagree. Its one thing to create hacks for a game based on your limited knowledge of the game client and server. Its a whole different thing when they know exactly where the vulnerabilities are.

    Looks like ROA will be using Easyanticheat as their anti-hack software. This is the same software that Rust, Reign of Kings, 7 Days to Die, and Combat Arms uses. 

    If you didn't know already, they're all hackfests.

    I've never had problems with hackers before really.. I've heard about them though but I've been playing since the beginning. The ones that I was sure of were banned from the game.. if they still exist it doesn't seem to effect my experience. Saying that this game is a hackfest is just wrong. I have come across them before but was not a big deal really. Developed characters are stupid to take such a risk and its not like a newer account can harm you much. I've played for 8 years now? I only recall coming across hacker problems directly twice. Once I was sticky back with someone floating behind me hitting me with starter weapons... was no biggy I just did whirlwind a couple times and the noob account was off of me and probably banned soon after. The other time was a person that was speed hacking back in 2010? He was kicked right away. Actually I do remember a third time.. which was most annoying... someone had used a radar hack to track me down for awhile. Happened only once though and I did not die.
