You don't have a firm grasp on reality do you.

You're apparently just pulling crap out your ass because nowhere did I ever make anything remotely close to a claim nor assumption of Overwatch being "a shitty casual version of TF2".

It honestly would appear you aren't actually reading anything I've written and are ad-libbing crap in place of anything true. Try going back and actually reading what I wrote before responding again, because as it presently stands none of what you just said actually applies to anything I've written.

I mean honestly, how can you be that far off?
You keep complaining about hitboxes and shit.  Otherwise, what is your problem with Overwatch exactly?

You're also a really nasty little dude.  It's hard to tell wtf you're talking about in between all the veiled and not-so-veiled insults you toss around constantly.

Basically all I can really make out is you're sad that Overwatch isn't TF3.  Noted.  I disagree and think it's good that hero shooters are not relegated to niche status anymore.

I would refer you again to my amended post. And again would refer you to go back and actually read the posts.

I'm "sad" because of the trends that I can see repeating itself across yet another genre. If "TF3" had been in place of Overwatch I'd still be in pretty much the same scenario because it's not about which game made such a runaway success, but what it means for the genre itself and how it's going to affect future titles.

All it takes to understand that is basic English literacy because I have said as much multiple times now. I never disparaged the game itself, and I always framed my explanations in a broader context only using specific titles as examples to a more general issue.

You, on the other hand, seem to have ignored everything that was actually written to take someone sharing any form of lament as an attack on the game. Which is utterly inane.

So please, for all that is unholy, stop the stupid whining, read that actual damn text and, god willing, you might actually get the point.

Didn't it already beat smite lol?

Smite the game with 38 limited skins that can never be obtained again, and no role selection, at least in Over Watch there isn't much toxicity at all compared to smite );...

    Erm its not just reddit...

How can I possibly understand your points if I can't read?  But here let me sift through your unprovoked jabs yet again and try to communicate with you.

" If "TF3" had been in place of Overwatch I'd still be in pretty much the same scenario because it's not about which game made such a runaway success, but what it means for the genre itself and how it's going to affect future titles."

I think you're trying to say that Overwatch is going to have a WoW-effect on hero shooters like WoW did on MMORPGs, meaning they're all going to suck from now on.  I disagree.  There was only one hero shooter before Overwatch, and it wasn't exactly going places.  It had its niche, but it wasn't comparable to the audience pre-WoW MMORPGs had.

I think Overwatch opens up the genre of hero shooters and allows a game like TF3 to be made.  We already have the WoW-clone equilivalant of Overwatch in Paladins, and it's not doing great.  I don't think many Devs are going to be rushing to make more Paladins.

But they may think about making a TF3 in the newly opened hero shooter genre, or something else that focuses on skill or map-making etc., which I'm assuming you would like, whereas before Overwatch they would not because it did not seem profitable because TF2 just sat around for 10 years.

tl:dr; (so I can reach your insanely advanced English mastery and hope to communicate), I don't think it's at all sad that Overwatch is going gangbusters in an age of p2w, poor quality, and a languishing hero-shooter genre that formally consisted of basically 1 whole game.  I think it encourages a lot of good things for game-development, not to mention the game is incredibly fun.

Oh dear god, there was not only one her shooter before Overwatch! I even mentioned a couple of the other ones that have come along in-between TF2 and Overwatch in that post!

And you just countered your own argument by pointing out how the exact problem I said was going to be a problem is already forming as a problem by way of Paladins.

Don't even attempt to claim "unprovoked jabs" when I only got hostile on you after you resorted to making up complete bullshit.

To answer your fist question there, you obviously can't.

Also, since you singled out the hitboxes comment previously.

Hitboxes do not scale based on different characters. What's happening is that character's with projectile weapons like Hanzo and Phara actually use larger collision models on the projectiles. The other weapons in the game that use hitscan bypass that size issue.

To compensate in general however Blizzard did two things. One, they made the hitboxes on the models themselves rather large, two, the servers prioritize attack registry over movement.

As it relates to the hitboxes, they actually are rather large. The 2x size applies directly to the head, while the body is smaller and more proportionate to the avatars. This is noticeable by using a character like McCree and gauging the shots so that you are always aiming with the circle part of the reticule just outside the target's head (as in the circle is basically touching the edge of the face at closest, with the center dot aiming past the target) You sill find that McCree lands every shot on the head, but have to aim slightly closer if you attempt the same on the body.

Blizzard did actually reduce these for a while, but they ended up getting a lot of complaints and reverting it back to larger hitboxes. 2x headsize for the hitbox is actually the norm in OW as a result.

Blizz cheesed it on many abilities when it comes to collision boxes too, like the shape for Roadhog's hook is actually a standing rectangle, making it easier to catch targets vertically than horizontally. Also, Genji's blade deflection skill utilizes the same collision model as Reinhardt's shield even though his blade deflection is visually much smaller. This is why you get some pretty strange visual quirks occasionally and why Hanzo can technically snipe people through walls if they stand close enough to it.

"Holy crap how is this stuff so hard for you to understand?"

You suck at communicating, you don't try to understand what I'm saying, and you pepper everything with insults.

Also I'm pretty sure you don't have a point to begin with.

"Basically it's unfortunate it took what it did to get attention to the genre, and unfortunate that the attention is so wound around one game when this style of play has existed for at least a decade now, but it's not unexpected that such is the case given the nature of the average gamer."

In my first direct response to you, the point which I have restated several times now and explained random bits of further even.

Understanding you is simple, you say things incongruent with reality and you get offended if people don't agree.

I did not insult you at all for several lengthy posts until you resorted to outright lying, so that's another thing.
