Final Fantasy XV News - Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV has sold over six million units worldwide. The statistic includes both retail and digital units sold across PlayStation 4 and XBox One.

    Grats to them for doing so well, even if I don't play the game myself. An incredible achievement for sure.

    It's also worth noting that FFXIV sold like ~1mil copies back in 2010. After A Realm Reborn released 3 years later, it sold ~5mil copies in the next 3.5 years (2013-16). Awesome turnaround.

    How this compares with other similar MMOs?

    - GW2 sold 5mil copies in 3 years (2012-2015).
    - While ESO reached 7mil copies sold in just 2 years (2014-2016).

    I'm not sure if any other MMORPG sold more than 5mil copies worldwide (excluding WoW). Perhaps SWTOR, but couldn't find any data on that one.

    Square must be mightily relieved to see that sales figure build up after the huge expense of rebuilding FFXIV.

    Congrats to them, it was all worth it !

    No kidding. I'm really hoping they bring it to PC soon. I have a PS4, but my kids are always playing it. For a game I know I'll sink a ton of hours into, I just don't feel like fighting them for the PS4 everytime I want to play.

    It's not like these are even close to the worst character designs Final Fantasy has put out.

    when you have to compare to the worst, just to make it look half decent, you know it's pretty average at best.
    just my taste i guess. obviously many others are loving it. good on them.

    FF is across all platforms - that includes consoles while GW2 is only on PC. I say that is not a big deal.

    Purchased a PS4 refurb over the holidays just for this reason. Bought the game, haven't started yet lol, been busy with FFXIV which I now own on PC and PS4... so go figure :-)

    Awesome achievement.
    Personally loving this game, as a long time FF fan.
    It's flawed, but amazing fun nonetheless :)

    As a true FF fan, you wouldnt play anything after FF9 or FFX.
