$800 Build Help

Greetings!

Awhile back I posted about looking into upgrading my computer and now I'm at the point where my girlfriend's computer simply is just dying. She's had it for years now and it'll randomly turn itself off and we're struggling with it to reboot back up and we're just tired of it. She said I should just go ahead and build one for me and I'll just give her mine. Which I don't mind since we live together. Anyways.. I've been running through pcpartpicker.com and trying to get within budget and I seem to be failing at this very well.

I'm looking to order all the parts from Newegg. With a budget of $800 not trying to go over it. Games I mostly play is just League and WoW. Not looking to get into anything that is really computer intensive. Maybe future MMO's down the road. This build will need to include a operating system as well. Using a 1080p monitor. What I'm wanting is to play games on high/max settings. If anyone could help I would be more than thankful!

Should I go ahead and order it so it'll ship when it's in stock or wait until they do get it in stock?

Cyberpower PC? Ewwww. First off, that's a locked, bottom of the barrel i5 CPU. The motherboard brand isn't listed, so it'll be the cheapest one they could pull off the shelf. The brand RAM isn't listed so it'll be the cheapest brand they could find, probably without heatsinks even.

I stay far far away from that company. You can build a much better PC off of newegg or amazon just by picking parts.

You should order ahead if you decide to get that one. But the problem is that as long as they've got no stock, and no ETA. They might get some more in stock next week, or you might have to wait for 2 months.

The question is, are you prepared to wait for them to get more in stock? If yes, then go ahead and order immediately.

It looks like seller Miami vintage shop has those computers on stock, and only $645 each. But they're a new seller, and that price is so low it's suspicious

Edit: I keep forgetting I need a OS as well.

No you really can not build a much better PC at same price that way. They are using some really poor parts on that CyberPower PC, but even so the price/performance on it is really good.

I got it under $800 by assuming that you can buy a retail version of I5 6500 and use the stock cooler that comes with it. Also changed 480 GB SSD to 240 GB SSD + 1 TB hard disk, and changed the PSU to a cheaper version.

No, don't. Vrika's build is much better, assuming you're willing to assemble it yourself. If you want to stay inside of a strict $800 budget, you can drop from 16 GB of memory to 8 GB.

You want two memory modules, not one. To get 8 GB of memory total, you want a kit with two 4 GB modules, not a single 8 GB module. Only having one memory module cuts your memory bandwidth in half.

At 1080, yes it will. Can maybe save $20 or so on the build dropping to the RX470 - it will still have enough power to run everything at 1080.

*must* have SSD in my opinion.

8G of RAM is more than good enough.

Why are you buying two hard drives and no SSD?

I'd advise against a Core i5-6400. The clock speed is low enough that you're still paying a big price premiumf or Intel, but not getting a big performance advantage.

If you want to fit the previous build under $800, the easy way to do it is to drop from 16 GB of memory to 8 GB. Get a kit with two 4 GB modules, not two 8 GB modules or one 8 GB module.

If are just upgrading and already have a good PSU, Case, and SSD /HDD, and Video Card I would just buy this...

Also have to fit in a customize Liquid Cooler and comes to like $851 here does go a bit over but that $51 does give a lot better performance for the buck, been using this build myself for 3 months now, although you could cut back on the ram I do recommend 32 gigs, 64 gigs if you can afford it although 32 and it will likely last you till you upgrade again anyways...

Also Only buy a Western Digital Hard Drive, and I recommend the Intel SSD's using it for 6 months now no problems, and properly configuring storage options is a must in windows 10 or can have early failure of a SSD and that would suck.

As for buying an i5 sure if you really have to or cant afford it or do have to go AMD I can understand, but I personally like my I7 its way faster and DDR4 3600 Memory well I like the extra memory bandwidth for certain games really improves the performance, I have not really played any game yet with my 750ti that doesn't at least hit 60 FPS at all times except for ARC Survival Evolved with my new build... But this is because my GPU sucks give it 6 months ill buy a new one or two...

If your going i5, the lowest I'd go is 6500. I'm sure someone will come along and say "but you can overclock all Skylakes and ..." and I'll let whomever is buying the parts decide if that's worth it or not.

You spend $20 more, but get 500Mhz more out of it.

And if you can't get that to fit in your budget, that's when you look to AMD. On an $800 budget, you should be able to get a Core i5 in there, but you'll probably have to cut back on storage capacity and GPU speed a bit to get there. Just depends on what is more important to you.

The RX 470 will do what you want. You could even live with the 460 or the gtx 1050.
